Went in to purchase ammunition. There was only one cashier, who was helping people check in to the range and that took a long time because none of them had eyewear, hearing protection, etc. I waited in line behind them 5+ minutes. In the meantime, two other employees were in the corner, behind the counter, apparently doing nothing: one was leaning on the counter and on his cell phone, the other was on the computer; and they were chatting between themselves as well. Neither offered to help me while I waited in line. When it was finally my turn, I asked the cashier if they would price match Bass Pro's ammunition price. I'd just come from there and they were out of stock, and it was a $5 difference in price. The cashier asked one of the guys in the corner, who said no. I said never mind, then I don't want to purchase the two boxes any longer. I then approached the two guys in the corner to ask which one was the manager, and they pointed at each other. I asked why they pointed at each other, and they said they're both managers. I asked what their price match policy was, and they said they offer price matches, but it has to be in stock at the other store being matched. I asked if I called if a different Bass Pro location and they had it, then would they would price match it? Then they added a new condition, it has to be "local", whatever that definition means. I asked where I could find their price match policy in writing, perhaps on a sign or on the website, and one of them flippantly responded, "You'll have to find it on our website." I left unhappy and without purchasing anything. After being unable to find the price match policy on their website as promised, I contacted corporate customer service to inquire and share my store experience. In response, they said they do not offer price matches at all, so the employees apparently misrepresented everything they told me. read more

Booked a 2hr Private Lesson for practical instruction and firearm selection assistance. Julie, our instructor was an awesome source of information, safety and guidance. She was ready to get us started as soon as we walked in. We covered basic firearm safety first; then delved into review of the parts and functions of various firearms. Julie was easy to talk to and get questions answered and it really took away the intimidating factor of being a beginner. My daughter and I were able to good assistance on the range with our form and accuracy as well as fire at least five firearms. Today's instructions made me comfortable with my grip, stance, weight of a firearm and get more adjusted to it's kickback-- many range elements that you don't have the luxury of getting one-on-one assistance with when you just book range time. Had a really positive experience purchasing my first firearm here; Sabrina was very helpful and very knowledgeable. She helped me find exactly what I was looking for and listened to what I wasn't interested in. I would definitely come back and look forward to be helped by her or Brandon. Both of these employees were very personable and had great customer service skills. Jacob needs to work on his; he had very little to say other than announce what he needed from me. He also walked away with my purchase and passed me off to Brandon without explaining what was happening, and then interrupted Brandon to call his attention elsewhere in the middle of him explaining paperwork to me. Ordered a new handgun and safe from shoot pointblank.com. After 2 weeks it still hadn't arrived(even though the store called to say it was in) When I went to pick it up, the manager said it was not in but they had one set aside for me. Cool. When I purchased it online I used their finance option through Cordova. The manger suggested to cancel the online order altogether and purchase the gun in store. Sounds great! Now cordova is saying I owe THEM the money and it's showing on my credit report. Cordova tells me spb needs to cancel the contract Spb says it's a corporate "issue" Corporate is unable to contact! No number, no email responses. These managers(1 specifically) needs some lessons in how to be a manager. read more

I have a membership, and I reserved a lane. When I got to the Naperville location on 12/30/22 it was crazy house. The line was 20+ people deep and everyone was being directed to the membership line, even non-members. One girl was working the register and she looked totally lost. Needless to say I missed my reservation and I left. It was a total waste of my time. There should have been six people working that counter, and there should be an exclusive line for members with reservations. Very poor planning. If I owned a gun range in the western suburbs (*cough* JR's *cough*), I'd be super nervous about Point Blank opening up nearby as the difference is simply night and day. First off, their gun rental policies are phenomenal. Other ranges if you want to rent a gun, you pay a rental fee for *each one* which they try to rationalize by saying, "Well, we have to clean them after every use." (Hilariously enough, the ranges that claim this consistently have the dirtiest rental guns, go figure.) Here, you pay one rental fee and you can swap out as many times as you want. The catch is, you need to buy their ammo, but that's pretty standard. The actual range itself is clean, well lit, and they have this soundproofing baffling material on each of the shooting lanes which goes a *long* way in mitigating concussive blasts that come from the dude next to you shooting some hand cannon. I've been to ranges without this, and particularly if you're in the last stall next to the wall it's a straight up miserable experience. This is not the case at all at Point Blank. The Range Safety Officer is always lurking around making sure no one is doing anything dumb, which also makes me feel good about shooting here. I haven't bought anything here myself aside from ammo, but every encounter I've had with employees has been friendly- Another nice change from a lot of ranges that are typically staffed by know it alls. Definitely looking forward to spending more time here in the future! read more

Been to many ranges- Not like this! For 50 years, I've shot at dozens, worked at a few, seen a bunch more. So I came with preconceptions I've earned the right to expect, but Point Blank blew me out of the saddle. Very personable staff from the front door on back to the RSO's. They actually know the peculiar gun laws of Illinois versus other shops going far beyond and overboard. The floor stock included a nice rental fleet at a flat rate, also a broad selection of guns from annoying pink plastic .380's with lasers.....to real-deal ZEV exotica. Range fees were absurdly low' they have available various discount programs, notably for Vets or any number of other qualifiers" State of the art ranges with equal air exchange technology. Perfectly courteous RSO staff and quite communicative. Highly recommended. read more

Went in for the Glock sale on a Friday afternoon. Went to purchase a gun. My drivers license address did not match my foid card. I apologized and asked if they would honor the price if I returned with the corrected license. The manager Daniel stated yes and gave me his card. He said come back in soon don't make it three weeks. I reminded him that DMV hours can be tricky but will come back in ASAP. DMV offices are closed on mondays so came in the following Tuesday straight from the DMV. Daniel was not around so I needed to give the card from Daniel to a new manager and explained the scenario. The new manager called Daniel. Daniel told the new manager that I had to return on Monday to receive the price. I reminded him that the dmv office was closed on Monday just as I had told Daniel on Friday so there was no way I could get back in there The new manager refused to go call Daniel again to remind him of the exact conversation I just had on Friday with Him. Therefore they would not honor the price and No more biz from me. Too bad. Place does look nice. But common sense and service don't seem to be of highest priority read more

Don't count on point blank to work effectively and efficiently during these times. Over selling items on their website and then canceling your order over 2 weeks later. Even before that, they stopped all customer calls so you had to physically go there and ask for an update on your order. Shoot Point Blank is a really solid gun shop and range, and a great place to take training. I signed up to take the Low Light Shooting class and missed the part where it said Advanced Handgun class was a prerequisite which I had not yet taken. Fortunately, there was only one other person signed up for the class and he hadn't taken it either. At first the instructor was just going to refund us for the fee but the store manager (great guy by the way, see below) suggested the instructor instead teach us the Advanced Handgun course so we could take Low Light another time. It was a great suggestion and Carlos the instructor was outstanding. He is a great teacher and the course (which included a ton of live firing) was safe, informative, and fun. I've also taken courses at other locations and had good experiences so I think the level of instruction at SPB is just generally very good. The range at SPB is also excellent. It is a relatively new business in this area and the range is state of the art. The ventilation system ensures you are not inhaling lead, the booths are separated by bulletproof steel and glass, there is sound baffling so it does not get too loud, and the range is well marked with 5, 7, 10, 15, and 25 yard lines so you can accurately practice at various distances. In terms of the gun shop itself, they have a good selection of the all of the most popular brands in the main calibers, and have pistols, rifles, and shotguns. They also have a good selection of ammo, as well as various accessories (cleaning kits, magazines, holsters, lights, shooting bags, etc.). They mainly sell new firearms but also have a small selection of used guns as well. The stores are clean and bright and the staff are more than happy to let you actually handle the firearms you are considering. They have sales all the time on the various things in the store (sign up for the email to see what's on sale). I was in there shooting with a buddy of mine and afterwards we stopped by the case to check out pistol recently release, that happen to be on sale. My buddy could not decide if he wanted it so we left. A week later we are back in there and of course the sale is over, but the store manager remembered us looking at it the week prior and said he'd give him the sale price and now he has a sweet new gun and saved some money to buy ammo to shoot it with. SPB also have a good selection of rental guns so you can actually shoot before you buy, which is key when you are considering a few different options. One of my favorite aspects of SPB is the range membership, and I think it is an excellent value. Range time at any range is something like $20 per hour, but you can join the range at SPB for only $19.95 per month for the basic tier and have unlimited range time during the week. For a slight bit more, they have higher tiers that give you unlimited weekend shooting, free guests, free classes, free rentals, etc. To me the membership pays for itself if you shoot more than once a month or are shopping for a new gun and want to shoot it before you buy. I elected to get the top tier membership because I try to shoot a couple of times per month and really appreciate the free classes that level includes. It is also great to bring guests out to shoot, and as a veteran they give you a 25% discount on membership prices, so that is an added benefit. Overall I am very happy to have found SPB! read more

Overall a great place to shoot or buy a gun. Went shooting there and the prices were incredibly reasonable! They were also having a sale on ammo so we were able to shoot even longer. For an hour it was under $20! The previous range we went to charged for everything so it was nice that everything here was affordable. I started coming here about a year ago. I have purchased handguns, ammo and other supplies, and took the CCW class. Handgun prices were excellent and ammo was reasonable. The range is great and the range officers are always there keeping an eye, to be sure safe practices are followed. Everyone is helpful, never rushes you, and if not sure, gets your answer from another employee. The membership is the way to go if you shoot with any regularity, but prices with all the discounts that are available are still excellent. Getting a lane is easy and a lot of rental choices are available. Membership money has been well spent. All in all, a very friendly place. read more

Website doesn't indicate you must have 2 people in order to use range if it's your first time. I called and asked if they carried a specific model and they told me they did. I arrived (1hr drive + rented car) and find out they don't actually carry what I asked about but rather something very similar but not what I wanted. I ordered a handgun from guns.com and it was delivered to shoot point blank on the 17th of December and I have still not received information on doing a background check. This was a x mas present and I have purchased another handgun and had it in my possession within 5 days. Very unsatisfied with the turn around rate for a simple transfer. Seems outrageous to have so many transfers that it cannot be completed within 2 weeks and another shooting range accomplished this same day the firearm was delivered and I had it in my possession 3 days after the background check. I now cannot return on a satisfaction guarantee as 15 days has passed and now I can no longer return it to the vendor for what I paid. This is a huge inconvenience to me especially over a holiday and seeing as it was a gift for Christmas and I was traveling out of town to gift it. read more

Overpriced and staff isn't the most knowledgeable. purchased an rmrcc for $631 for my pistol due to Misinformation from the employee I was told with my specific gun I would be able to mount the red dot with factory plate and it would fit seamlessly with no extra work involved. long story short go to places like law and weapons supply in Naperville (same rmrcc for $550) for any of your needs other than a range and JR shooting has a great range up the street and is cheaper n better staff. read more

Poorly Managed, Improperly Trained Personnel, makes for a disrespectful, potentially dangerous experience on the range. The buying experience can be troublesome as well, base on a lack of process knowledge. I've purchased firearms and frequently shot at Shoot Point Blank for the pass 7 months and purchased their "All Access Pass", which I discontinued. I think the above is caused by a few bad apples, but this is all it takes to create a confusing buying experience and dangerous conditions on the firing range. This is continued and exasperated by management's unwillingness to correct improper behavior, or standardize location rules and policy. Rules of the range is subject to member is conducting range safety duty - barking irrational, inconsistent "rules", particular to a given guy. Inexperienced buyers are allowed to fan gun barrels passed other customers as they evaluate their first purchase. I'm positive the gun is made safe, but still unsettling and a bad practice. I'm disappointed that this location has not lived up to it's potential. I express my opinion with my dollars. So I've discontinued my monthly membership and will not spend another dime with Shoot Point Blank. If you choose to patronize Shoot Point Blank, I hope you get one of the good guys and will not find yourself in a position of working with rational thinking and bad practice exercised by the nitwit members of this location. read more

Awesome Night at SPB Merrillville. It's great to be welcomed when entering the store, and acknowledged when leaving.
