Great food, great service and decent portion sizes. Still getting used to Indian food, only had it for the first time earlier this year in Singapore. So I may not be the best judge on what's "good Indian food". All I know is this was good FOOD. The other 2-3 Indian places I've been to have really cheated you on the meat you get in curry and Masala. This place gives you a lot of chicken and enough rice to compliment the dish. I got the medium masala, my mom got some shrimp based dish(mild). We both loved our food, tasted fresh and full of flavour. Complimented the mains with a side of garlic naan. The naan was a little burnt and I think had a little too much garlic butter, but still good. Only downside in my opinion is that like most Indian places, there's not going to be any to take home. We have been eyeballing this restaurant for a while since we always go to dairy queen, oakland tea house, and El Fagon. We took the plunge last night and the food is very delicious here. We ordered masala Chai. The ginger comes through deliciously. The milk makes it really creamy. I'm really thankful for the brown rice and roti options, as someone who always over indulges in Naan and basmati rice. It was nice to have healthier fare options! We ordered the palak paneer and the coconut shrimp. Both were delicious! The coconut really is delightful. I wish there were more protein options that included paneer. Paneer was only in the vegetarian section. I would have loved to see some chicken or shrimp dishes that I could have added paneer to. They wouldn't let me add it on unfortunately. The staff are friendly, albeit a bit hard to call over. They seem to huddle in the front portion of the restaurant. They also almost never checked in on us. We have been customers at Rangoli for over 16 years, but that ended for me today. Our order was placed to be picked up at 5:49 pm. I arrived at that time and they said 10 more minutes. No problem. After I waited for 10 minutes in my car, I went back inside. I then waited another 20 minutes. Nothing. I was then told 5 more minutes. I waited 5 more minutes and then someone came out and told me 5 more minutes. I then asked for a manager and they told me "they don't have a manager". Interesting, to say the least. I then asked what was going on, if something was messed up or what the deal was, they would not give me an answer. I then waited for another 15 minutes until my food came out. During that time, they made a complimentary drink, but kept it on a table for 5 minutes until someone gave it to me. I understand things happen. A bit of fail with seating a party behind us at the booths. We asked to move to a back table instead. They have 3 TVs seemingly blaring Indi-pop music, they turned it down some, but not quite enough. I had to move a seat as it felt like it was still right in my ears. We ordered our usual set. Gobi manchurian, Chana masala, bhindi masala, aloo gobi, dosa and added some kachumber salad and tadka dal. They brought us Bhature, but we had to take a pass, gluten. It's been a while so I thought I will update my review. Hubby was craving some good Indian food, so we decided to order @ Rangoli. Very easy online ordering and they also offer curbside pickup. Another positive thing is that you can select between white and brown rice for your main entrée and spice level which I admire a lot at Indian places. We got one appetizer, two main dishes and side of bread. This was the first place where I finally felt like the portion size was correct for the price you pay. Also, the amount of meat and veggies in the dish is impressing. We got so much food that we will definitely have 3 meals out of that. Everything was delicious, well packed and we also got a small soup for free. Careful on the spice level. We had medium and it was pretty spicy. We really enjoy the food here, and the ambiance is nice. Good enough that, for our anniversary dinner, we decided to come here since we had given up meat for Lent and the Indian vegetarian options are great. Our server, Harshi, was very kind and had some good suggestions. We had never gotten south Indian food at Rangoli before, but we thought about trying a dosa, and she said we'd like it. Well, we did like it! They have a thicker dosa we will try next time (rangoli spicy dosa), but we went for the onion chili dosa, which is the regular thinness. Perfectly crisp and not greasy, just as good as any Indian street food place that specializes in them. And the onions in the name are not messing around - there must have been an entire bunch of chopped scallions in there! Loved it. The sambar was good, although I've never been excited by sambar. The tomato chutney and coconut chutney were both great additions. Before I get back to the food, I should mention the live music, which we were not expecting. During dinner, there was Bollywood playing on TVs around the restaurant. I thought it was a nice touch- not too loud, but colorful and pleasant. As we were paying, an Indian man was setting up to play an acoustic guitar. I wanted to leave before he started playing so we wouldn't have to offend him by leaving while he was playing. But he started before my credit card had been processed. I'm glad he did! It was an adaptation of Mr. Tambourine Man - I like it almost as much as the Byrds version. So we stayed and listened for a few more songs. Another Dylan song (with harmonica on a neck holder and everything), then another song or two, a Beatles song, and finally Creedence Clearwater Revival! We had to get home to the babysitter or I would have happily stayed longer. We enjoyed the gobi manchurian, although it wasn't quite as crispy as other variations we've had. Excellent taste. It also didn't have as much sugar and red color as some, which is probably a good thing. We know we like the palak paneer here, and it did not disappoint. Those little cubes of paneer are tremendous. I really liked the baingan bharta. My wife thought the clove flavor was too forward - I'm less sensitive to that taste, so it didn't bother me at all. I loved it. We decided to order something different we ordered the coconut chicken and it did not disappoint. The gravy sauce was so creamy and filled with flavor and the chicken was so tender. We added the 5.99 to get the extra items with the dinner. The Naan bread was perfect and crisp. Derrick asked for a pickle and you could tell it was homemade fabulous!!! Went here tonight with friends before a Meadow Brook concert, and they again screwed up service-wise, so unfortunately I am downgrading my review to two stars. Again, the food here is very good. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and I got the thali side (+$3). I asked if I could have garlic naan instead of regular and they said yes, but it's a $1.50 upcharge. A few of us got that and the waiter brought all of the naan together so I'm not sure how many pieces each person was meant to have. We found out later they did that with the samosas too... Three friends (one couple, one individual) ordered them, and he brought one plate with four samosas. The couple devoured them and later we found out two of the samosas were supposed to be for the other friend... Our waiter did take it off her bill at least. I forgot to tell the waiter that my boyfriend and I were on one bill. The other couple did request to be on one bill and he brought them a separate bill, and for the rest of us (6 people), he asked us to separate it ourselves. We put initials by each of the entrees and drinks we had ordered, and they still screwed it up - I was paying for myself and my boyfriend and they gave me a friend's bill instead. We arrived at the restaurant at 5pm because I was hoping to leave by 615p or 630p for our Meadow Brook concert at 730pm. Instead, we ended up leaving around 640pm because we had to wait for the bills to get straightened out, for the SECOND time. I could maybe overlook all of that if service was otherwise stellar, but it was not. We constantly had to ask for water carafe refills. Their vegetable tikka masala is absolutely delicious, chock full of assorted vegetables and substantial chunks of paneer in a tomato sauce. Paired with some of their cheese kulcha, you can't get much better than this. Today, Hubby got his usual veggie tikka masala. I tried their channa masala and discovered it, too, was very tasty. On complaining to one of the servers, he spoke to some other staff (not sure if it was manager) and came back and told us; "they have been serving this gobi 65 entire day and no one complained about it". Food was good but disappointing management. We ordered 2 curries which were good (as always) and a bread basket which was a little overcooked for us so we asked them to replace it. After a lot of efforts we could get a replacement for it (which is unusual because not everyone eats same level of cooked breads so it should be ok if a person finds it overcooked). Once we were done and got a bill, I saw that we are added a 18% gratuity ($8.29) for 4 people (which is usually on a group of 6). And then later we found out that it was actually a 23% gratuity. Apparently it was their system's problem but it was very misleading and dishonest. At first the waiter said that manager was home but we later saw him near kitchen. Even though manager made an effort to undo the bill later but we were disappointed enough to let it go. Best Indian buffet and naan bread in town! This is a great stop for lunch, but plan to go a little earlier than the noon rush. We usually head over by 11:30 and can get in and out easily. While the buffet menu varies sometimes, I've found a great lamb and chicken dish each time. Today was the butter chicken and lamb curry. It can be a little different from visit to visit (today's lamb curry was a bit on the spicy side), but always delicious. There are two buffet areas, so I'd imagine things move well even after they get more crowded. We love it, and will certainly visit again. read more

This is one of our favorite Indian restaurants and it was recommended to us by former co-worker who just happens to be Indian. As with any ethnic restaurant, you can usually get an idea of how authentic and good it is by observing how many of the customers are from that ethnic group; in the case of Rangoli, it's a definite pass. I always like to order a Shrimp Curry or Vindaloo dish at Indian restaurants, and it is really good here. I also really love their Naan Bread and could easily fill up on that alone. But don't do that because everything I've eaten here has been really tasty. The biggest problem I usually have with Indian restaurants is that I already know going in what I want to eat...but then I see their buffet! I just can't resist their buffet! The food was delicious, and the only real downside was that my Chicken Tikka Masala was a little too runny (like soup) for my taste. I'm used to a more thicker base. Other than that, their Mango Lassie, and Biryani was absolutely great! We ordered the Lamb Biryani, (medium spicy) and it was to die for! I can definitely see myself coming back just for that. Would not recommend this place for family dinner anymore in the future. This place used to have good service and the food taste is not consistent anymore. We ordered entries and naans. Our naan was brought out earlier than the food significantly that the breads got cold. We were also missing an order that had to be placed again last min. This had our family waiting for their food while the rest of us were done eating. In addition we had to wait for our separate order of garlic naans twice. We had three different waiters which causes more confusions on our service across the board. The food itself did not taste the same flavor wise. Everything felt rushed with improper timing of bringing out the dishes to the table.
