The appetizer combination from Rangoon (Smithfield, RI).
Robert A.

I've been a Rhode Islander all of my life; I used to frequent the former Coach's Pub located down the street from this establishment. All these years, I never thought to try this place. I regret that I didn't do so earlier. To put it simply, the food at Rangoon is delicious. I ordered the appetizer sampler in which I selected the items of: an egg roll, crab rangoons, boneless ribs, and beef lo-mein. I was a bit nervous that the portion of the dish would be small. After all, it's a sampler; however, I feel they gave me a proper portion for each item. It was well worth the price of $11.99. Additionally, I ordered an ebi roll. The sushi was fresh, and was presented well on its plate. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant down the road. I am currently visiting one Chinese restaurant per week in an attempt to find some good spots. This place is definitely one of the better ones that I've encountered in my travels. It also appears this place has a buffet. Due to COVID, the buffet was not open; however, it is definitely on my list of things to try.

consistent food, warm and welcoming vibes... a go-to takeout spot (and dine-in pre-covid)! love the sushi and chinese food!

I work in Smithfield and was out doing some errands when I searched for nearby lunch restaurants on my Yelp app. Rangoon popped up as nearby and reading some reviews made me hungry for Chinese food. It was just past 11:30, so newly opened for the day, and I was the only person in the restaurant. It was clean, smelled good and I was helped right away to put my to-go order in. I ordered the fried ravioli (6) and an order of fried rice. The raviolis were delicious and large! Nicely fried on two sides. The dipping sauce was a perfect complement. The fried rice was packed with chicken, shrimp and pork. I was surprised because in other Chinese restaurants, you usually have to order those ingredients at a premium price. I give 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. The pork in the fried rice tasted freezer burned. And, the two items came to over $17. So, I'll be back, but not often, lest I break my lunch budget!

I was invited to lunch here by a friend who eats at Rangoon every week. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but is very nice in the inside. There is an adequate parking lot behind the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food arrived fairly quickly. We were a party of six and everyone was pleased with their meal. I arrived first and was seated right away. Without asking, mwater glass was filled and I was presented with a pot of hot tea and a bowl of soup, which was delicious. I ordered from the lunch combo menu and had the General Tao Chicken. For sides, there is a very nice selection of options, rather than the usual pork fried rice and eggroll that I've come to expect from Chinese menus. I had shrimp fried rice and crab Rangoon. Everything was delicious! The sauce on the chicken was just right, offering a nice amount of heat and spice without being overwhelming. I can't wait to return to check out the weekend buffet.

Very small portions in the pupu player. Not very good. Food was over done and hard. I would not recommend this restaurant

Our server, David, made the night even better. He was attentive, upbeat, and genuinely kind; an overall great spirit with a fantastic attitude who elevated the entire dining experience. David even brought us some of their popcorn, which was so delicious and such a fun extra touch. We loved the food, we loved the service, and we will definitely be back; highly recommend.

I've seen on social media that people complained about the new location having mainly street parking - we both found parking easily on the street - quit yer b*tchin' people lol. Besides I believe they have a lot behind the restaurant that we didn't have to use but it's there if needed. We were the only ones there when we first walked in but more patrons came in as the night went on. Made our way to the bar and orders were flowing - one warning if you're sitting at the bar, it is an open kitchen so there will be alot of aromas flowing through and may get on your clothes but really it'll just remind you of how good the food was. Also, the barstools are not the most comfy - metal stools with no backing so after 2.5 hours, we were feeling a bit achy. We ordered way more than we should've but everything just looked so good! We got the croquettes (our absolute fave), the cauliflower, the pizza du jour (I think it had spinach, pepperoni, ricotta and garlic) and for entrees we got the fish tacos and the Orecchiette. Not one complaint - everything was divine. Croquettes were melty, smoky little nuggets of heaven and our favorites bites of the night. The pizza had a great balance of flavors and the crust was thin and crispy. We were so full but had a few bites of the fish tacos and pasta - the fish was cooked to perfection and the aioli it came with topped it perfectly. Pasta was different - had a scallion cream sauce that was a nice change up from your typical Alfredo. Don't sleep on this place - the street is busy being on a main road but so well worth the visit, I didn't catch our bartender's name but he and a few other servers were super personable and friendly - gave us just enough time in between meals and personal space to not hover. Absolutely will return!

I didn't get the guys name who runs it but he's super cool and chill... he def needs a food truck or to expand. Lots of retro decor (think Slimer from Ghostbusters, Hulk Hogan pillow buddies, etc). The walls are lined with arcade games... bring your quarters! Whole variety of seating, from tables and chairs to circular booths, and the like. The perfect space to settle in for a bit, especially on a rainy weekend evening. We were greeted immediately and provided with a number of menus... and what a menu! Lots of comfort food options ranging from apps to entrees, and a number of sandwiches and burgers. I was vacillating between the hot dogs and a couple of the chicken sandwich's and ultimately selected the Cool Ranch Ray with grilled chicken, cheddar, bacon, and Ranch dressing. It was delicious! Unfortunately, the fries left something to be desired as they were fairly dried out and a bit tough to get down. Perhaps a bit less time in the fryer could have fixed that. Dessert was a nice cap to the meal with Nutella empanadas. Yum! PB & Jealous drink... divine. Our waiter Chris was moving and grooving... never seeming to stop for a second and always finding time to check in with us. Pretty certain he was behind the bar AND waiting tables and kept up with it all. Bravo! Fun evening, great food. Will definitely be back.
