The appetizer combination from Rangoon (Smithfield, RI).

I've been a Rhode Islander all of my life; I used to frequent the former Coach's Pub located down the street from this establishment. All these years, I never thought to try this place. I regret that I didn't do so earlier. To put it simply, the food at Rangoon is delicious. I ordered the appetizer sampler in which I selected the items of: an egg roll, crab rangoons, boneless ribs, and beef lo-mein. I was a bit nervous that the portion of the dish would be small. After all, it's a sampler; however, I feel they gave me a proper portion for each item. It was well worth the price of $11.99. Additionally, I ordered an ebi roll. The sushi was fresh, and was presented well on its plate. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant down the road. I am currently visiting one Chinese restaurant per week in an attempt to find some good spots. This place is definitely one of the better ones that I've encountered in my travels. It also appears this place has a buffet. Due to COVID, the buffet was not open; however, it is definitely on my list of things to try.

consistent food, warm and welcoming vibes... a go-to takeout spot (and dine-in pre-covid)! love the sushi and chinese food!

I work in Smithfield and was out doing some errands when I searched for nearby lunch restaurants on my Yelp app. Rangoon popped up as nearby and reading some reviews made me hungry for Chinese food. It was just past 11:30, so newly opened for the day, and I was the only person in the restaurant. It was clean, smelled good and I was helped right away to put my to-go order in. I ordered the fried ravioli (6) and an order of fried rice. The raviolis were delicious and large! Nicely fried on two sides. The dipping sauce was a perfect complement. The fried rice was packed with chicken, shrimp and pork. I was surprised because in other Chinese restaurants, you usually have to order those ingredients at a premium price. I give 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. The pork in the fried rice tasted freezer burned. And, the two items came to over $17. So, I'll be back, but not often, lest I break my lunch budget!

I was invited to lunch here by a friend who eats at Rangoon every week. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but is very nice in the inside. There is an adequate parking lot behind the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food arrived fairly quickly. We were a party of six and everyone was pleased with their meal. I arrived first and was seated right away. Without asking, mwater glass was filled and I was presented with a pot of hot tea and a bowl of soup, which was delicious. I ordered from the lunch combo menu and had the General Tao Chicken. For sides, there is a very nice selection of options, rather than the usual pork fried rice and eggroll that I've come to expect from Chinese menus. I had shrimp fried rice and crab Rangoon. Everything was delicious! The sauce on the chicken was just right, offering a nice amount of heat and spice without being overwhelming. I can't wait to return to check out the weekend buffet.

Very small portions in the pupu player. Not very good. Food was over done and hard. I would not recommend this restaurant

Not happy with their chicken , chewy and no taste , and rangoons are over cooked and there is not much choices on their menu selection

The rice isn't mushy, and it doesn't have a strong vinegar taste like some others I've tried. So tonight, we ordered $125 of takeout and one of the rolls should have been GLUTEN FREE & it was NOT. I called for a CREDIT and they said they can't credit my card. I asked for a Manager and the woman I was speaking with said, "I am the Assistant Manager". I then asked to speak to the General Manager but she told me, "He is BUSY in the kitchen". I said, "I drove 15 mins up and 15 back, but he was too busy for me"? Then she said, "Oh, he just left the building". At 7:55 pm, I am expected to believe the Manager left a busy restaurant - I don't believe that!! At this point, I didn't want the CREDIT, I just won't return. Too bad too, because the other rolls were good - I do have other options and I will exercise those options! ***HEI PLACE ORDER*** Hei Place Roll *Gluten Free French Crunchy Roll Angel Dream Roll Yami Roll Ocean Roll Tuna Maki Roll Pineapple Fried Rice Fried Ravioli ===$125.28. Asia Grille is the same thing except it's a brick and mortar restaurant and they have alcohol. The restaurant itself is located in a nice location at the Lincoln Mall. The interior itself is dated but large and has plenty of seating. The staff are all kind and I've had nice interactions with most of them. I feel bad leaving a three star review because many of them are so pleasant. But, the food is average at best. I've never had something that has wowed me or blown me away. Tonight I did the sweet and sour shrimp. The portion size was great with plenty of rice but they should have put the sweet and sour sauce to the side instead of on top. It almost made the dish too sweat. I also ordered a Mai tai which was good but standard. I will say I did oscillate between a 3 and a 4 because of their pricing. Most of their special combos are no more than $12 and my Mai Tai was $10. With the portion sizes this is a great deal! Plus the food always comes out incredibly quickly. Would I take my friends or boss to Asia Grille? But it is a quick and cheap meal if you're in the area and don't want to cook.

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.
