I've stopped by Ichiraku a few times now and have always had a decent meal. The most recent time was this past Saturday. We arrived around 7:30 without a reservation and I was nervous there wouldn't be an opening- thankfully no wait though! The restaurant itself is decorated nicely, spacious, and has a great bar where you can watch the chefs cook. I always like being able to see the chefs work their magic and this was no different. There are numerous options on the menu and they have a large sushi list as well. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. I ended up ordering the hibachi scallop while my significant other had a sushi roll. The food came out quickly and prepared nicely. I always like their hibachi as it comes with a lot of different food items. The salad was okay, a little wilted but their dressing is always wonderful. The meal itself was good- a generous portion of scallops, lots of zucchini which are my favorite, and the fried rice was good as well. A little clumpy when I'm used to kernels but not bad at all. If you're looking for a good hibachi dinner I highly recommend trying this place! It's not perfect but definitely has its qualities. read more

I like Ichiraku as a lunch option in this area. I typically get the 2 roll sushi lunch special, and have no complaints! The lunch special is a little pricier than other sushi restaurants in the area, but nothing crazy. I love their spicy Kani hand roll. Not many people know this but they have an AYCE option on Monday and Tuesday for $35. It's a really good deal and you can pretty much choose from whatever - sushi or not! The service has been good when I visited. I have noticed it is sometimes slow, so plan some time if you're going there. The drinks are pretty good as well. First time here. Maybe it was their off day... the place had a few people for a late afternoon but felt dead. I was in the neighborhood for something different than regular Italian or Mexican. So this place seems to fit the bill. Their tag like is Ramen and Fusion. But, their Menu is mostly Chinese food with some Japanese inspired food and ramen. The menu is extensive. Actually it was my first time anywhere there are two types of Tonkotsu ramen - shio (clear broth) or shoyu (soy sauce or dark sauce). The noodles were slightly undercooked, and clumped together in tue bowl. I like salty food but I thought the broth was way too salty. I don't mean to nit pick, but the subtle things matter in ramen. Anyways, it was a nice decor and atmosphere in a small strip by Douglas Pike. If you are not paying attention, you may miss the sign. Since this place is the only ramen place within 20 minute drive, so I am glad it was at least was an acceptable choice for ramen. read more

Very disappointing experience. There were empty seats when we arrived, but no one cleaned them, so we had to wait at the door for a long time. During the meal, a female server actually took my used napkin to wipe her own hands and left it on the table, which was extremely unhygienic. She also dropped the bill on our table without saying anything while we were still eating, clearly trying to rush us. On top of that, she removed our plates before we finished, without asking. This Japanese restaurant belies its nondescript location between a gas station and a Dunkin Donuts but don't let its modest appearance put you off - It's terrific! There's seating at the sushi bar and a number of tables as well as outdoor seating if the weather is clement. Service is friendly and attentive. We started off with some delicious pan-fried (and thankfully not deep-fried) gyoza with crisped-up skin and tasty pork filling; as well as a deliciously decadent salt-broiled bone marrow served with toast slices and frisée greens. My wife had a salmon and tuna poke bowl and she loved it cuz it was full of fresh greens and wasn't piled upon a super-big mound of rice. The accompanying yuzu sauce went perfectly with the bowl. My daughter and I both had the shio tonkatsu ramen ... wow. Deeply flavorful and rich broth with a hint of smokiness; fatty and unctuous slices of generously cut cha siu; thin straight noodles that soaked up the broth very well. Been to this little spot on several occasions. The sushi is what drew me in, but several friends suggested I come back for the ramen. The sushi was good. Standard. That ramen though! Came back and tried it one time...hooked me!! The proteins are so good. Tender and stand alone before you even add the broth. It is clear they put a lot of effort into the food and layer the flavors. Loud, dark and slow are three adjectives that could apply to this venue, cool would be a good 4th adjective, but not in a positive way, as the shumai was barely warm when it arrived, resulting in an unappetizing appetizer (is that an oxymoron). This place is nicer than I expected and I was happy to eat here. I had the seafood ramen, which was more than I could eat. I was happy to find a scallop. The Pastene sauce was a bit thick, but I'm no pastene expert either. Otherwise that was quite tasty as well. The waitress was very social and attended to us well. The sticky bun was ok, the ramen was a little chewy, and the sushi was completely average. Glad they had ramune! The highlight was the smiling and chatty staff, and as we were leaving, someone in our party mentioned that it was like we knew the server for our whole lives :) Typcial ambiance, have some ramen on the walls (painted), and a bunch of TVs if the date isnt working out ;;) Maybe we'll try them again when we're in the area and hope for a different cook. read more

We stopped here because we were in the area and needed lunch so that we could finish our errands and were pleasantly surprised. There were only one or two tables occupied at lunchtime which kind of made me leery but we decided to try it anyway. The server tried to seat us right next to another table of guests and we asked to be moved to a table that was not so close. I wish that people would understand that during Covid particularly and even at other times I guests do not want to be seated next to others. A little privacy and space is a nice thing. Mike ordered the Ramen and it was beautiful and so full of different ingredients. He did not eat the soy egg but I did and it was amazing. I had a sushi roll and it was nice and fresh and tasty. Sushi pizza. It was so fresh and delicious. I've gotten takeout twice so far and both times were delicious. My mother doesn't like the thought of eating raw fish, but the sushi pizza was so fresh and delicious (we had tuna) she had 2 pieces. Their attention to detail is also worth mentioning. They separated the food and gave a bag with the hot food and one with the cold food. I appreciate that extra step to improve the meal, instead of just bagging it and sending it out. It's incredibly hard to find good ramen in Rhode Island and Northern RI isn't where you'd expect to find it but we saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot.
