Rani threads is the best deal for Threading in San Francisco! It's $10 for both upper lip & eye brows. After coming here, I didn't need to do any tweeting with my brows & lip for about a month or so Cuz she's so precise. Also when she does the upper lip, she does the bottom one too so it clean & even. The issue with this place is that since she's famous & cheap, she has a following that makes you wait in line if you come around 4 or 5pm. She says she's best free when it's in mornings or lunchtime which is something I will definitely do someday soon. On a side note, you pay for her fantastic threading skills & not for the ambiance of a salon or fluff like candy. If you're really anal about that stuff then do think twice Cuz you'll be there waiting to get threaded. read more

What can I say about Rani? She did an incredible job on my eyebrows and because I was not prepared with cash (as it is a cash only place) she did not charge me. However, I went back the following day and paid her and tipped her. Rani was amazing it was my first time going to her and she was very nice and really quick too. So, after my lady left my Berkeley threading place, my eyebrows have suffered from broken hairs, ingrown hairs, lopsidedness, and from being too thin.....NO MORE!!! Now that I found Rani, my eyebrows have been rehabilitated! First of all, she is cheaper than anywhere in the Bay...these are like NY prices (even better actually)! Less than $10 got me eyebrows and upper and lower lips threaded (note-these are nice codewords for my lady mustache). She used a magnifying glass! She was super honest and told my my chin hairs weren't ready to be threaded yet, so to wait rather than waste my money! She is fast, she is skilled, she is efficient. Yeah. Rani did a fantastic job and was a real sweetheart about it. Her "shop" is in the dressing room of a clothing store, which threw me off. But all the ladies inside looked like professional 9 - 5ers. There were about 5 people ahead of me, so I had to wait a while but BOY WAS IT WORTH IT! I will def make the trek from Burlingame for her. $5 for eyebrows $3 misstache - no unnecessary hair was plucked, and all the unwanted strays are history! She made my eyebrows are perfectly symmetrical (I thought my eyebrow were different for a VERY long time!) and expertly arched (with a little angle at the end, just how I like them). I have semi-thick eyebrows and I grow them out before getting them done since I always seem to have a bad experience with waxing. Usually my eyebrows come out thinner than I would like or they make my arches round which I feel changes my expression. Also, another thing my past waxers do is make a big fuss off my unkempt eyebrows, but it is only because I am growing them out to get them fixed (honestly!). So, I recommend Rani. Upon my laziness to keep up with my brows, they were in desperate need of some help. New to San Francisco, I decided to Yelp around. I stumbled across Rani's amazing $5 threading for eyebrows, $3 for lip and couldn't pass it up. Let me just say, I've been getting my eyebrows waxed by the same person, at the same place since the first time I was ever allowed to get them done (circa 2009), so you can imagine how sketched out I was getting another person to do my eyebrows atop of threading them for the first time. I visited Rani about a month ago for the first time and let her thin them out just a bit. I was surprised how little it hurt and was even more surprised with the outcome of the amazing shaping she'd done. I was so impressed, I visited her a second time yesterday (Wednesday, Sept. 11). This time I decided to get my lip done along with my eyebrows (a total of $8, not including tip). I have to say, threading my lip hurt like a biznatch! However, it came out as clean and as smooth as a baby's bottom. Rani has been waxing for a little over 28 years and is AMAZING at what she does! First of all, Rani Threads Magic is not a misnomer. Rani DOES work magic on your unruly eyebrows! For $7, you really can't expect a zen-like spa experience in this strip mall outpost, but the value is certainly unbeatable. I walked in off the street on a Saturday afternoon and there was surprisingly no wait. I hopped into the chair, allowed Rani to work her magic and I was out the door in less than 15 minutes. I did not have to give her any direction. She worked her brow artistry efficiently without any preamble. It was a no-nonsense, motherly approach. You can tell she's a perfectionist because she uses a magnifying glass to inspect each brow for stray hairs. Who does that?? Certainly not my previous waxing esthetician! I do wish that she had sanitized her hands BEFORE touching my face, but she did apply aloe after the threading was complete. Rani is meticulous and tries her best. Her prices are insanely cheap. I basically got my entire face done for less than what it would cost elsewhere to do just my upper lip. Her studio is tucked away in a hallway shopping center that I accidentally walked past the first time. Looking at the pictures someone posted helped. Since her place is so small the people waiting to go next are sitting practically less than five feet away from you. By the time I was done the seats were filled and I felt awkward having my face freshly de-haired so close to everyone. If her place didn't make me feel so claustrophobic, I'd go more often. read more

I have been getting threaded for over 10 years now and am usually just content with the service I receive, including those posh/ upscale threading places where I just usually feel like i'm in a factory line. Rani is amazing!! She is precise, focused, and very detail-orientated. She wouldn't let me go until she was completely satisfied with her work and how I looked; no matter how long it took. Despite having many customers waiting for their turn, she takes her time with each and every customer. I never once felt rush to get in and out the door. I admit, the art of eyebrow threading may not be for everyone BUT after experiencing both eyebrow waxing and threading, I can definitely say I prefer the latter. To begin, this place isn't even a threading salon, but a clothing store. I went here around 5:30/6ish on a Monday & NO ONE was there other than Rani & her husband. Like people said, her chair is in this little back room, but she has all the supplies of a pro. Rani is very sleek, patient, & a perfectionist. She asks if you like your eyebrows thick or thin, & then threads carefully & precisely. Afterwards she plucks baby hairs (with a magnifying glass) & scissors off the long hairs. I think what I liked that there was no one there was that she literally took her time. People keep saying she's fast, but she had me for about 15 min or so which is average time. But what I love the most is that she's $5!!!!!!!!! (Perfect for college students on a budget) My eyebrows are clean & gorgeous. For $5, I have the look of someone who gets their eyebrows done for $20. It's just crazy she only charges that much. I will go to her all the time now because she's just amazing & super cheap. **The only reason why I gave her 4 stars (wish it could be 4 1/2) was that afterwards my friend said my eyebrows were really red & I did feel some irritated bumps. I've been to Rani's twice now. The first time there wasn't a huge wait. I waited like 20 mins maybe and it was more toward the later part of the day. However, when I went around noon on a Saturday... I waited 2 hours! She was crazy busy, but it was okay since she let's you sign in and then tells you to come back. So I went to go grab a cup of coffee. The place is pretty cheap. She raised her price though because she knows people will keep coming back. It's now $7 no longer $5 for eyebrows, which is still pretty cheap compared to everyone else who does threading. I am accustomed to paying $4 to get my eyebrows threaded at Heena Salon in Richardson, Texas. So I've been shocked by the threading prices in SF, but I'll live. I called Rani at 11 am on a Saturday morning and she said she wasn't busy, come on down. Well, I happen to be married to the tardiest girl on god's green earth, so we arrived about 12:30. It was PACKED. We snatched ourselves some folding chair right outside the door. After about 20 minutes, I noticed other new-comers writing in a book. Holy shiz, there was a sign-in sheet and I didn't know! So we got put three or four people behind because of this oversight. Wish there was a sign letting you know to sign in. We waited almost an hour. The threading was pretty good, I should've communicated a little bit more that I was trying to grow my overplucked brows out a bit, because she just cleaned up around where the previous threader had overplucked them so they're still thinner than I'd prefer. But my wife's brows looked really good. Rani has definite attention to detail. This is a no-frills place, but it looks quite sanitary. Everyone always questions cleanliness when a place is in a lower income area or there aren't a lot of amenities. read more

Just got my eyebrow done by Rani! Was a little bit affraid because she has some great reviews and some bad ones. But OMG! She really has magic! My eyebrow are well done perfect. Like I love them don't even need to draw them. She really take her time and at the end take hair one by one with her glass to see it really precisely. I would totally recommend her! $5 to thread your eyebrows?! I've been going to Sandy at Urban Beauty in the sunset, but have noticed the last few times she hasn't been on point and I decided it was time for someone new. I've been threaded a few times before and I wish there were more spots in the Bay Area that weren't in a kiosk in the middle of the mall. Luckily I've found Rani. Located in Mike's Fashion Store go to the room in the back where Rami has a chair set up. She was very nice and soft spoken and asked if I was familiar with threading. The process seemed to go fast and she was gentle. The other times I have gotten threaded tears would fall down my eyes, but not with Rani which I obviously liked. When she was done threading and a bunch of broken string later (my hair is thick) she plucked a few stray hairs and trimmed my eyebrows. This place is nestled in a SKETCH area. I came here after my friend raved about how cheap it was for threading, and as I was quite in need of cleaning up my face with a thin wallet to boot. Everything is handwritten and the threading room is in a semi-abandoned mall/cluster of indoor shops? There aren't any decorations and there isn't any privacy - you just go in and there's one chair in the middle of the room and a bunch of waiting seats around it - you are the entertainment for the next customers, so be sure to give them a show, I guess?? All in all, she was pretty quick and thorough, and the price IS reasonable ($10 including tip) but I did bleed from where she tweezed one eyebrow - not sure if that was more my fault since I was antsy to pay the parking meter though. read more

I came here on my way to work because off all the good reviews (would've normally never stopped here). Place is easy to miss as the other reviews already mentioned. I was greeted by her while she was on the phone and told to sit down, she stayed on the phone for the first 2 minutes of the threading, which I didn't like at all, but fine. What can I say for $7? There was no line and I was the only customer. She didn't ask how I wanted them done and I didn't tell her. I thought I'd trust her seeing how I had drawn them and just to get the hair around and between the brows. My eyebrows ended up thinner than expected which I can't complain too much about. I didn't tell her and you can barley see my blonde eyebrows anyways, so if threaded or not, I have to colour them in. She missed a couple of really obvious da hairs which i had to get out with tweezers at home but got all the small and annoying ones, which is great. She was fast and did a good job. Best threading place in the city. She is always so sweet. I get many compliments every time I get my eyebrows threaded from here. She responded right away when I called for an appointment. Threading eyebrows is so much better than waxing. Love the way she shapes my brows. All those people writing bad reviews is because of their lack of communication. If you see hair, you let her know so she can take care of it. You don't go home and write a bad review. After all, she's human. There's a reason for all her good reviews and the long lines at her place. She told me not to pluck because it ruins the brows. She always has great beauty tips. $7 is so cheap compared to those places in malls. And she does a way better job than those people at the mall. It's a steal for that price. I was looking for a place to clean up my eyebrows and upper lip and decided on coming here due to the great Yelp reviews. I came in at around 12:15 p.m. on Monday, because I read about the busy hours and long waiting times. I signed in at the waiting list and waited for about 30 minutes, since there were 2 people ahead of me. I was nervous about the pain because my only experience with threading hurt a lot. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't really hurt. I would rate the pain a 4 out of 10, and that's coming from a person with low pain tolerance. The process was pretty fast (15-20 mins) and was only 10 bucks for both eyebrows and upper lip! This lady is seriously a pro in this! She is so good that after she treads she actually goes in with a magnifying glass and plucks out the very little tiny hairs left over to clean. The place is super small, very simple and no decor, just a plain old chair and the very awesome reason why I keep coming is that she charges only $7 for eyebrows! She is the nicest Indian lady and I just always end up giving her $10. I was going elsewhere for years and they would charge $15 for a lame work. A friend of a friend recommended Rani and she has been my go-to for the last few months. This would be my fourth visit and she still doesn't remember me even though I had a conversation with her and her husband.. hahaha.. Anyway, I came here to ask for Rani to work her magic on my brows because I over-plucked my left brow -- making it not even. I asked her to make them even again. She asked me if I already plucked them into the current shape I had. I told her yes... but she was the one who threaded them into that shape in the first place. I was just plucking them to maintain its shape which I screwed up when I over-plucked it. My friend tagged along to watch and she noticed how Rani would just tap on the hand sanitizer. Never pushing it down to get the solution. She would rub her hands together and apply the solution on the client's brows. But her hands were dry so what was the point of that? Feeling iffy that my friend pointed all of this... I hesitated to sit on the chair. She basically did the same thing to me and I didn't feel any solution on my brows. Another thing she kept doing was plucking my skin a couple of times to get the itty bitty hairs. That stung a bit.. I noticed how she kept plucking more hairs that I started to get anxious. I had a feeling she was over plucking them when I told her I've already plucked them. I literally wanted her to stop right there before she plucks any further. At the final look, my brows did get even but at a price. She made my brows more thin than what I'm used to. Idk if thin brows are a popular thing within her clients, but I would have preferred medium sized brows. Not too thick but not too thin. But when I noticed more carefully at more brows, my left brow was more thin than my right one. At first glance, you can't tell but if you look more into it... It's kind of obvious. Later that night, bumps started to form at my brow bone --- where you would put the highlight at if you were to apply makeup. The bumps were from all those times she plucked my skin instead of the hair. I counted a total of 3 bumps. That's far too many mistakes in the first place. I don't even mind ingrown hairs that you can't pluck in the first place. But she was so persistent at getting them!! I'm giving her three stars for all the other times she threaded my brows. The first and second time were on point. But the third and fourth time made me question her work.. It's not sanitizing if you really think about it because she puts the thread in her mouth. The thread she uses for your brows.And the pretentious "oh I'm going to sanitize my hands real quick". Sigh.. but you can't beat the price though. $7! read more

Rani does a good job with threading, I have been coming here for maybe 3 years. She is now open on Sundays and has a better larger shop than where she originally started. The gripe: the wait can be really long. Basically add 15 minutes per person who's in front of you when you arrive. If there's 3 people when you arrive you'll need to wait 45 minutes before your turn. I would put your name down then come back if there's multiple people. She should add a second person just for weekends so people don't have to wait so long. Go here if you're looking for cheap eyebrow threading but have the time to wait. Otherwise I would go elsewhere that takes appointments or has more staff. read more
