I went here twice - the first time Bebe was very nice and did a really good job for a good price, so I went back a second time. This time she made my brows very thin and angular which I didn't like, but at that point there wasn't anything she could do to fix it without making my brows even thinner. Not only that, the area she was threading bled and was very sensitive immediately after. Within 24 hours, I was breaking out all over the area she threaded. I'm not someone who gets acne/breaks out easily at all and my skin is not sensitive, so this was really shocking to me and is a big red flag. I'm not sure what was different this time. I went in and admittedly I was late because I ended up running around trying to find the place (my fault for not arriving earlier). I told Bebe that I liked my brows but they needed some cleaning up, didn't want my eyebrows any thinner and that I know my eyebrows are uneven so I'd like to work towards being even but it didn't need to happen today. Well....I've finally broken down and will reveal one of my 'only slightly (so slightly)' painful - but totally worth it beauty rituals - eyebrow threading with Bebe. In the Middle East - nobody waxes - it's all about the threading. It's far more efficient and safe than waxing, no scalded skin, no icky growing out process, and I find it to be far more precise. In Qatar, some women get everything threaded from their whole faces down to their arms. I'm definitely not that hairless happy - but well groomed eyebrows are a must. I first discovered Bebe in a Yelp search and have been a regular now. She's quick and exact, and makes the whole procedure pretty damn painless. She's gentle not only in the process, but with her demeanor. You don't even need to give her any instructions. She sizes up your eyebrows and your face and goes to it. And VOILA! in a matter of ten minutes you're done and ready to go. Eventually I'd like to book a facial with her, but I'm always apprehensive about skin appointments due to sensitive skin. Also, if you get there early and she's still occupied with another customer, you can always pop over to Coffee Bean and grab a dark forest drink beforehand. You may have trouble getting through to her intially, since Bebe is a busy woman, commuting to and from the city, so be sure to call ahead to try to figure out an appointment , but it's definitely worth it. So for years I've been addicted to having my brows done. I always used to get them waxed, but after a series of red bumps, week-long pain, and other issues (including a nasty red scab between my eyes that only managed to heal the morning of my wedding day due to a serious bout of good karma), I decided it was time to give up the harsh wax process on my face. Enter my pal Jeanie K, who recommended Bebe. In what seems to be *less* time than it takes to wax (with roughly the same amount of pain) I can have perfect brows without suffering from a week of bumps and bright red skin. Bebe is very thorough with her work. I believe every little hair was removed by her magical hands. I'm not sure why everyone is mentioning pain, but her touch was ever so gentle with me. Probably one of the better threading experiences I've had in a while. I really like the natural light coming in, so she could see better. Also, instead of a chair she operates from a massage table. Comfort level just shot up a notch! I gave 3 stars because when I arrived for my appointment, no one was at reception. It's only recently in the last year that I have gone to salons on my own. Every time it's a nervous experience since I never know how to act. Am I really supposed to know how my eyebrows look best? So I often walk into these places feeling like a walking disaster knowing that I haven't taken care of myself for awhile. There are a few places I have entered (hair salons, waxing) and the lady would scream, "What did you do?!" "Uh...exactly. I did nothing. Absolutely nothing." But Bebe took no notice. Even though I read that she was above the SOAPS salon, I was still confused walking in and the downstairs stylist had to point to that hidden door (ok so it said Bebe on the door, but I didn't see it at first) before I found my way up. No sign on top as to whether I could walk into the room, but I think Bebe made it deliberately more personal. I knocked hesitantly and found her waiting. I had booked a 1:15 lip/brow threading and she welcomed me in even though I was a few minutes early. Bebe had been patiently waiting. I really liked how she decorated the room with pillows and used ambient music. The process was quick and relaxing. No awkward conversations during the short 15 minute process. She didn't criticize my lack of care. I have slightly sensitive skin and she quickly applied something to care of it. No redness after! Unlike Riya in Berkeley where I have been a few times, Bebe was more personal. It was $25 not including tip for the entire threading process. The credit card transaction is done in SOAPS. I heart Bebe. She's soft spoken, comfortable and does an absolutely AMAZING job shaping, refining and structuring my unruly brows. The first time I went there I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Recommended by a fellow yelper (thank you Jessica L.) I was a little perplexed... "threading?!" I said..."You mean she takes a string of thread and uses it to pull out my crazy brows?" It didn't make sense but hey, my friend has some pretty awesome brows so I gave it a shot. Bad news is...it hurts. The first time kind of caught me off guard a bit and I was so intrigued by the entire process that the pain was subsided by the complete stupefaction of using thread to shape eyebrows. Unlucky for me, it still hurts every time I go in but the pain is well worth it. You're also going to think she's threading out your entire eyebrow but really, she's not. Instead, she's working her magic. Bebe is also very attentive to your needs so if you're attached to your luscious brows and want them shaped but not to the point where they're pencil thin, just let her know. I'm not going to lie to you. Threading hurts! Especially if you've never done it before and are not use to it, or if you have hair around the very sensitive eyelid area. This was my first time trying threading. I've always had my brows tweezed, but decided to try threading because it's suppose to be cleaner, comparable in pain, and much faster. I definitely agree with the cleaner and much faster piece. However, I'd say it did hurt and my eyes were watering up towards the end. Then again, I've always been the teary-eyed type... It wasn't intolerable pain, and I can see getting use to it after a few times. Specific to Bebe, I thought the place was a great, no-frills, quick in-and-out type place. She charges $15, cheaper than any other place I know about in the city. She's not a chatty gal, but definitely friendly. She gave me a tissue when my tears started spilling, and wiped my brows with a cucumber scented liquid. This is my first time getting my eyebrows and upper lips threaded instead of waxing. I must say this was a interesting experience. Bebe was quick with her threading skill and she was friendly. The radio was playing in the background and i was happy i can listen to the music while she was doing the threading. I was told the pain shouldn't be as bad as waxing... hmm... i would say there is pain but in a different type of pain.. as if you were getting pinch many times on the face.. but it was a tolerate pain since it doesn't take too long for bebe to finish my brows and lip. In the end, the results is great. No sticky mess leftover like waxing would do. My face is smooth. In the end, it was worth it. I think i'll be threading more often then getting wax. Only two people are allowed to tamper with my eyebrows: Bebe and myself (though, I really don't trust myself with much more than plucking the occasional stray hair). Bebe is amazing. She's been threading my eyebrows for almost a year now and I've never left unsatisfied with the results (knock on wood, I don't want to jinx it though). I usually get my upper lip threaded along with my eyebrows and the total comes to $25 only (plus $2-3 tip, depending on how many dollars I have on me). The threading lasts me a good 3-4 weeks. As far as pain goes, I don't find it painful at all, but I've also endured three tattoos, so maybe my threshold of pain is kind of high.
