My wife and I are dark beer drinkers . They did not have any on the menu so we did not have a drink. There is plenty of seating and it's a great place to stay out of the sun on a hot day.

At first, walking down the alley in downtown Bend, I honestly was not sure what we were about to find. Then we started seeing little fire pit pods, heated huts, glowing candles, and people tucked away having cocktails. It instantly felt cool without trying too hard. Walking into San Simón felt like stepping into some funky speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Dark lighting, moody atmosphere, David Bowie playing in the background, wild artwork on the walls that makes you stop and stare for a second. Just a great vibe all around. The kind of place where you sit down and immediately relax into the evening. The cocktails were excellent. Not overdone, not syrupy, just really balanced and well made. One of our favorites was the "Some Positive Feedback," which came with this sugar rim that looked awesome and added just enough sweetness without overpowering the drink. Bright citrus flavor, refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Then we asked the bartender if they could just make us something off the cuff. We said vodka, lemon and lime forward, not too sweet, maybe a little spice. They absolutely nailed it. Crisp, refreshing, layered citrus flavor with just enough heat on the back end to keep it interesting. Honestly one of those cocktails where everybody at the table takes a sip and immediately goes, "Oh wow." As a bourbon guy, I was also pleasantly surprised with the whiskey selection. The bartender recommended Stafford's Reserve, an Oregon bourbon, and I am glad I listened. Smooth, approachable, a little sweet up front with some spice on the finish. Easy sipping bourbon that fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. What really made the night though was the staff. Everybody was friendly in that genuine way where you feel welcomed instead of "served." By the end of the night it honestly felt like we had been there before, even though it was our first visit. The outdoor setup deserves some love too. Bend cooled down at night, but the fire pits and heaters kept everything comfortable. We could have easily stayed another couple hours just hanging out. Pricing felt fair for the quality of drinks and atmosphere. This is not a dive bar pretending to be fancy. It is a genuinely cool cocktail spot that knows exactly what it is. If you are in Bend and enjoy craft cocktails, bourbon, cool music, quirky atmosphere, and places with personality, go find San Simón. Half the fun is finding it tucked down the alley in the first place.

I am a near pescatarian and I have struggled to find the right things to be able to order here. I don't like their steaks or other meat items, they are of medium quality (my husbands steaks feel like they should be $20 from WF) and don't have the same high quality as their sister location up the hill. It doesn't feel right to me to pay so much for a simple shrimp skewer. I've ordered that before, but it's just not worth the cost. I just feel like the menu needs a little more depth. More veggies and more exciting things for those of us who don't love meat.

Rapa Nui Tiki Bar in the Old Mill District was an unexpected and delightful surprise during our visit to Bend. Tucked among the shops and restaurants along the river, it's a tropical escape that feels a world away from the high desert outside. Our group sampled a variety of cocktails, and each one was beautifully presented and thoughtfully balanced. A standout was the Island Old Fashioned, made with coconut-washed bourbon, house pimento syrup, and tropical bitters -- a clever twist on a classic that perfectly captured the tiki spirit without being overly sweet. The tiki vibes were spot on -- from the carved decor and soft lighting to the laid-back soundtrack and friendly bartenders who clearly know their craft. This place was such a breath of fresh air during these pandemic times. We decided to sit at the bar and it was perfect. Our bartender, Anna, was incredible. She engaged in our conversations all while multitasking and making drinks for the entire bar. She was constantly working hard to make great drinks but would constantly check on our party, often offering suggestions based on our previous orders. We loved watching her make every drink and interacting with her. She's the best server at this establishment. Seriously LOVED the food and drinks, the Three Dots and Dash was DELICIOUS! We had to sit outside as we didnt make a reservation but it was still amazing. Obviously it was cold but frankly the great service, amazing chicken special they ran and 2 pain killers my wife had warmed us right up! Lots of people on here talking about water service, seems strange as its definitely a bar atmosphere. Most Bend bars... heck even restaurants, have water stations!!! I enjoyed this place alot, already made a reservation for 4 of us next week! Cant wait for visit #2! read more

Such a cool and unique place. I loved it! I'm so excited that a place like this opened up. Especially at a time like this. You got questions? I have answers. How are the drinks? Delicious! How is the service? Fantastic! How is the food? Amazing! Everything about it was so much fun. As soon as you walk in and look at all the decorations you will see that you are going to have a great time. OMG!!! I can't say enough about this place! Super fun atmosphere, friendly staff, terrific appetizers and yummy, unique drinks! They have a "smoking" Moai statue and you can really tell they put a lot of thought into the décor and vibe of the place. I had the special of the night which was crispy fried chicken doused in a soy-ginger sauce (hoping this goes on the menu permanently) and my favorite specialty drink on the menu was the macadamia nut chi chi. Wow, for a place to open during Covid takes a lot of courage! Good for you guys for making a cool place with great drinks and rad food. Shame on all these haters for kicking these guys in the nuts after they've been open 3 days. I ordered a pain Killer and it was awesome, fresh pineapple and presented beautifully, also had the fried chicken which was spicy and sweet and totally reasonably priced at $14 bucks for a huge portion. I would come back just to sit at the bar and be served by Anna. She was so fun and friendly. The food and drinks were some of the neat I've had in Bend and well worth the price. I had the smoked beef brisket hash, because the special of the day they sold out. The smoked beef brisket hash was okay, I was expecting a smoked flavor, but didn't seem to have it. My wife had the soup & salad combo and she enjoyed the hardy soup with the flavor and the salad was a Caesar which was fresh and crispy and tasty. Our son in law enjoyed his tuna melt and Caesar salad very much and cleaned everything that was on his plate. Our daughter had the cheese fondue with bread chucks, but hardly touched it. We also shared the baked bread with virgin olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette which was very very good. Also we shared the vegetable platter with 2 different types of humus which also was very tasty and delicious. And we also shared the fried green tomatoes with a buffet type of sauce and it went really well. If you like a nice relaxing and scenic place to enjoy and relax and have a good meal, you should try currents. The restroom is clean and well maintained and the restaurant area was clean. The staff was nice and service was good.

My hash was tepid but my friend's gravy had been sitting so long it became gummy. It had taken us so long to receive our food, we were hungry, and we were needing to get back on the road home that we didn't complain. Management should be utterly ashamed of themselves, particularly the GM (our group was full of food service folks including a fellow GM and they were all appalled). Never again. This place is not cheap and subpar doesn't even begin to describe the complete and total lack of food quality and service one receives. I don't usually like to leave reviews like this but this was maybe the worst breakfast I've ever had. Save your money and time and avoid.
