I like that Barnes offers a stand alone service for employers to send their employees for routine services. I love the convenience of the location and private lot. The waiting area can fill-up fast but they move people out pretty quickly. My employer sends all employees here for physicals, tb test, screenings, etc. The employees are always friendly and helpful. Whenever I have had to go, it was always scheduled ahead of time, so I don't experience long wait times in the lobby area. Also, one time I had to drop by to obtain copies unexpectedly and they were able to conveniently assist with pulling year old records requested by my employer and complete paperwork in a timely manner. The exam rooms, testing areas and lobby are maintained. I did have a questionable encounter recently when I had to go for a TB test. The tester was not wearing gloves for the injection, which I had to question. I know that I will be back for future visits because this is where we are sent for various medical services related to work.

The only problem is I was not prescribed an amphetamine. She suddenly discontinued my medication and put it in my medical records I was non-compliant. I was then treated like a drug addict and criminal by a member of the front desk staff when I called to follow up. All Nicole had to do was google if Ritalin is an amphetamine. She had multiple opportunities to speak with me about my negative drug tests but chose to try and catch me in a "lie". At best this is human error, at worst this is plain negligence. If Nicole wasn't comfortable or familiar with prescribing ADHD medication, she shouldn't have taken me on a patient as I told her getting my ADHD treated was my main concern. I wasted a year of my life trying to get adequate treatment from Nicole Carr and she failed me. I now see Katie Padberg at Sunny Day Psychiatry who has been compassionate and never once made me feel like I was a druggie or "medication seeking" Stay away from Nicole Carr if you go here.

My husband got the same paperwork even though he had an established history with pain mgt Dr's. Ours just moved out of state. I had proven problems also but he was much worse. We never heard a word from anyone after I am sure they didn't even do the test or we should have heard something. But they didn't even have results when I called them. "It's old, it's falling apart, it's dark and creepy and people try and push their religion on you." I'm happy to report back that all, except the last, are untrue. As cliched as it may be, the people are really the lifeblood of this place. From the first blood test, everyone was fantastic. Cheerful without being syrupy. But, more important than demeanor, they worked fast. I had to go in for a day of tests and they zipped me from department to department, I never sat and waited for than a few minutes. The staff in the NewStart wing was really friendly and human. They were jokey and some even had the balls to tell them they hated NYC - I'm talking to you Dr. Shah the anesthesiologist! After the surgery, the nursing staff was great - prompt, friendly and quick with the pain meds. There was one sweet old lady that I wanted to punch in her liver-spotted face. After surgery, Betty came walking into my room and asked if I was Christian. I said no and her immediate response was "So, you don't believe in God?" No Betty, i'm a heathen. Christianity is obviously the only option, right Betty? As if the picture of the new pope in the lobby wasn't enough to make you turn to Rock & Roll. No matter how prepared you are, it's always a little scary to go in for surgery. But everyone, except Betty, kept me at ease and I felt great the whole way through.

I dislocated my shoulder last night and wanted to avoid the ER, they said come right in and they would take care of it. They weren't kidding. I was in and out in about 45 min. Everyone had top notch bedside manner, I mean, the best most sweetest people. Idk who does the hiring, but it's amazing. This isn't the first time it was like this. I've had nothing but amazing experiences here - swift, kind care, and they handle everything in house. I will never go anywhere else, this place is it. Best urgent care in the city.

I assume due to construction there is only 1 garage for both the hospital and the dr bldg. Don't bother trying to get a spot as you go up, just go straight to roof where I eventually found one. It cost to park, take your ticket, they'll give you maybe $1 off if you validate it. If you can't find a spot, valet the car. It costs as well. The new concept of everybody checking in at the front before going to their respective waiting rooms is here. Its confusing since no one seems to want to help. Again first timers be aware of your surroundings. Communication lacks here with the particular office I was at. They may care but its more of a revolving door. The nurse i dealt with could use a few lessons in her approach. I won't get into details but if I stick with this particular practice I'll be going to their satellite location, not returning here.

When I called back at 12:40 p.m., I was met with hostility from Amy, Tiara, and Passion--who said they were RNs. They refused to let me speak to management or the Nurse Practitioner. When I simply asked for the address to confirm I had the right location, I was threatened with the police. I left that call in tears, feeling humiliated, dismissed, and unsafe. I believe I was denied care because of my disability and a pending malpractice case against Mercy. The interaction triggered my depression, anxiety, and PTSD so badly that I had to seek emergency behavioral health treatment. No patient should ever be treated like this when reaching out for care.
