Day two of our Charlottesville trip. We went to the historic downtown Mall. We found Rapture. Excellent food. I got the Veggie Omelet and Grits and coffee. My wife got the Cobb salad and Tomato soup. We sat on the patio and did not go inside. There was some confusion with one employee seating people and the other saying they were full. At the end, they give our bill to another patron who luckily noticed the error. Reasonable prices. Overall, highly recommended.

my biggest gripe with butter and toast is when the butter is COLD and unspreadable. luckily for me, THEY PREMELT THE BUTTER HERE! that tells you so much about the service, so two thumbs up. very locally owned vibe, and i loooved the decor. as an incoming first yearrrr I WILL BE BACK!! side note, I'm not a big grits fan, and that stands true, but the proteins and sauces were very good

Went with a group of 6! 2 people loved the steak, the gumbo did not have a lot of flavor, the pork belly was pretty good, the reuben was incredible and the Cuban sandwich was decent. I only got a picture of the pork belly but there isn't any online so I wanted to make sure to post it. We'd recommend the steak and the reuben sandwich and the rest would try something else next time :) great service!

One of the best gumbo spots in Charlottesville. Great options on the menu, and there is indoor and outdoor seating.

Yummy lunch. Salad with grilled chicken. I ate outside and it was a beautiful day. I don't know why the guy who waited on me was so salty. He asked if I wanted pepper and when I said yes he said, "Of course you do." This was just one of many snarky interactions. I don't know if it was sarcastic or just mean - but I read a review where he was mentioned in the reviews below. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

Amateur night at the Rapture. New Year's Ave, Band is Booked and Present (Mad Maxx and Groove Train), room is packed--yes, full-- and we have endless 'technical difficulties' and 45 minutes blocks of silence or bar music because they can't troubleshoot basic band soundstage needs. Amateur hour. Money back? Or think twice before back. Ah well.

$18 for a burger and a few fries. Good burger but a little on the small and pricy side. The hillbilly egg rolls were decent but pretty salty. The scene is definitely more of a go for drinks kind of vibe.

Well located with great outdoor area seating. The service needs improvement. Went to enjoy brunch on Father's Day with my family, we weren't informed the restaurant closed at 3pm for this holiday til after we sat down and we were terribly rushed to place our order. Regarding food, it was delicious we ordered the eggs chesapeake with sautéed spinach but on my husband's plate there were bits of egg shells. The serving of the mimosas was on a regular glass, they should use proper glass for mimosas. If back in downtown I would consider returning and hoping the service is better.

We started with hillbilly egg rolls: pulled pork, mad hatter hot sauce slaw, peanuts, goat cheese, & bbq sauce. Good crunch on the outside. The goat cheese and bbq sauce just didn't pair well. The inside we too creamy. Would have stuck with just pork and the slaw. The flavor was decent. MY wife had the grilled hanger steak, which was perfectly cooked and topped with a nice chimichurri. It came with house-cut fries that were pretty tasty. I had dry-aged sirloin with a porcini-shallot-red wine reduction. The beef was cooked perfectly, but lacked seasoning. The wine reduction sauce was a little thin and could have benefited from more shrooms. The roast garlic mashed potatoes and ham hock collards as sides were excellent. The beer and wine lists are limited. Prices are moderate to high. Service was good. The atmosphere was not memorable.

Don't go here for brunch... the food was cold and service was slow. Not impressed!

Outstanding local spot! Has that local pub feel and an outstanding farm to table fare. This is our "always solid" choice of restaurants.

Multiple layers of flavor and all the right textures. Visually appealing on the plate as well. Solid cocktail list here. I'm a big fan that they go old school with a hot toddy. The applejack brandy added to that is a nice touch. Service is excellent here. Prices reasonable given the quality of the dishes. Will be back the next time I'm in town for sure. Ordered a cucumber chamomile gin and tonic, which left something to be desired. We started with the blackberry salad which on the menu said it also included avocado but there was none on the salad-despite this the salad was great. Our mains were good but not great. The biggest issue I found here was despite our server being very nice while ordering she NEVER checked in on us after anything arrived, never refilled waters either. So although she was nice the service was not good as there were times we wanted to order something else and one of the entrees didn't arrive as it was ordered but our server never checked in. All things considered I think I would only come here to grab a salad or appetizer.

The restaurant was dark and moody creating a perfect romantic atmosphere. Our server was attentive and helpful. 1st course: Butter Poached Maine Lobster- melts in your mouth. Perfect consistency. The secret sauce made it perfect. The flavors were complex and I couldn't figure out what they put in it to make the sauce because they all blended so well. Roasted Maine Scallops: I have never cared for scallops. These had the best texture - the perfect amount of fluffy and firm. They were buttery and delicious. The capers topped on it added a little something extra without overwhelming the flavor of the scallop. 2nd course: Steak Chinois: steak was tender and cooked to perfection (went medium) the ginger sauce gave it so much flavor. The potato's were smooth and savory and melded well with the steak. The flavors combined complimented each other so well. Grilled Double Rack of Lamb: was very tender too. My first bite had too much red sauce and was a bit overwhelming after having just finished the steak chinois. However, I mixed with the potatoes and lightly dipped in red sauce and then the flavor was an explosion in my mouth. 3rd course: Vanilla crème brûlée with rasberries- literally perfect. Can't even put into words. You must get it. Bittersweet chocolate Brioche bread pudding -bread was warm, raspberries were cold, and pudding was an added extra. *chefs kiss.

Good not great, but it could be. That was my impression after dining at The Jervey this evening…read more The space is inviting, though it can be a bit noisy, and there seemed to be an issue with the overhead lights dimming periodically in the dining room. Our water was brought out quickly and our drink order was taken at the same time. The young man was quick and friendly, but he wasn't our server. It was a bit busy, but our server arrived soon enough, and we ordered the tuna tartare and the rolls. Both were tasty, and we both enjoyed the spicy tuna. After we had finished our appetizers, our order was eventually taken, and not long after, our food arrived. We both enjoyed our entrees. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the scallops were as well. The sides were fine, with lobster Mac and cheese being the standout. Overall, I think what we found lacking was atmosphere and personality. While everyone we interacted with was pleasant enough, it didn't feel like the fine dining experience advertised on the website. There was no asking if we had any questions about the menu, no highlighting of dishes, or specials of any sort. It just felt like they were serving top notch food in an average chain restaurant playing dress-up atmosphere. The elements are there for The Jervey to be amazing, but right now they just aren't there yet, in my opinion. I will definitely go back and enjoy the food again, that's for sure.

we wanted to try a new place in cville and we saw this as an option…read more i have a couple of gripes with this place: 1. we didn't have a reservation because open table or resy didn't have an option at 4pm but we thought if we went when they opened they would have some tables set aside from walkins. we were sat in this weird long table facing the bar sitting next to each other and the entire time we were there, not a single table was occupied even though they were saved for reservations. I would understand if this place was super busy and these tables were actually reserved but not a single table was occupied in the hour we were there. they sat families and babies at the bar even though there were open tables 2. the food was pretty good! however for a burger, to charge $20+ and for it to not come with fries is a little annoying. they served it on a plate that was huge and would look like it would be a great place for a portion/side of fries 3. for the vibe of this place, the desserts were too basic and expensive, they were serving milk and cookies and an ice cream sundae the service was great we liked our server a lot though and it's a pretty space
