I've been going to Alyssa for over 3 years now on a monthly basis and always do a 90 minute deep tissue therapeutic massage, today I tried a 90 minute Ashiatsu with Alyssa's recommendation and let me tell you it was phenomenal. I don't know what took me so long to try Ashiatsu. I felt instant relief of pain that has built up around my neck and shoulders, my lower back has never felt better. Getting a membership at Rapunzel's was the best thing I've done for myself, my body has never felt so much better. She is why I continue to renew my membership year after year. I had a Spa Finder gift card and Rapunzel takes them. I decided to pamper myself for my birthday and get a massage. After reading the great reviews, I scheduled the 75 minute therapeutic massage. Let me tell you that it was one of the best massages that I ever had! Alyssa was amazing. She knew how much pressure to apply for all my tight muscle areas. I told her to go medium to deep and she did not disappoint. I hate going to massages and barely feel they did anything to my tense and aching body. I came out of the spa feeling great! There are many things in life that one loves to indulge in. I am that person where if you tell me, "Let's plan a spa day!" I am all over that like white on rice! My BFF was telling me that she doesn't trust going to any other place for a massage than Rapunzel's, and was totally stoked that they recently moved to this newer, more lux and spacious location. I have long been overdue for a massage, and this sounded like a great way to start our spa day - even before breakfast! We had booked appointments well in advance for the morning time slot on a Friday, since it is known that the slots are gobbled up fast. Upon walking in, we checked in at the counter, and they offered to hang up our coats, which we declined (typical New Yorker thinking someone is gonna run off with your coat somewhere). We filled out some paperwork in regards to any medications or aliments we had to make the most out of our experience. While we were waiting, we got to enjoy the wonderful waterfall that they had as the focal point of the massage waiting room. The rhythm of the waterfall crashing on the rocks below was getting me in the mood for some zen fullness. There is a station for complimentary tea, coffee, or fruit water if you're interested before or after your services. My friend and I parted as we went into separate rooms for our massages; I think I may or may not have skipped into the room. My girl, who's name escapes me sadly, was a strong woman, and I knew she would break me apart to put me back together again, so I told her to not go easy on me and apply ample pressure. She also wasn't a talker, which I was really happy about because I was partially drooling and moaning while she was massaging me; I am sure she is used to this. She really worked both sides of my body so evenly and so seamlessly, that I always get depressed when they ask to roll over onto my back, because the massage is almost over - SIGH. This was truly one of the best massages I've ever had in my life; I've had many different kinds of massages from all over - but this is the cream of the crop! After moving back from Tennessee, it was time to find someone to touch up my hair in this area that was located close, had good prices, and are capable of achieving the color I desire. After much research, I chose Rapunzel's, and I came in for a hair color consultation. Originally we were planning to double process to get the color I wanted. I was given a price estimate for when I later returned for my appointment. When it came time for my appointment, it turned out that we could achieve my desired color in only one process (instead of two). I was pretty excited. Kelly was also very skilled at handling my thick hair, which historically has added hours of frustration onto my hair appointments. I was impressed at how quickly she was able to work her way through all of my hair. However, I guess it did take a little bit more time than anticipated, because-- I don't know if this is how they run things or if it was because my thick hair did take a little bit more time than anticipated-- I blow dried my own hair while she was starting the next appointment. I don't mind that much. But considering my hair was colored in one process instead of two, the amount I paid should have been cheaper than the estimated amount at my consultation. However, the cost was about the same, which I take it to mean that I was charged for a blow dry even though I blow dried my own hair. I asked for a receipt to see the cost breakdown, but the receipt didn't show me, and I felt kind of weird asking. There was also an assistant who washed my hair, and I've never had that before. I had no idea how much I was supposed to tip an assistant that just washed my hair. I still don't! And they only accept cash tips, no tips on cards! So it gets tedious. In the end, my hair color didn't perfectly match but I didn't expect perfection for someone's first time working with my hair because it takes a while to get used to working with it. I won a free 90 minute massage and went during Thanksgiving week. I got my massage in a room with 2 tables. The masseuse did a nice job. I found myself asleep and waking up to my loud snoring. When I get a massage, i like peace and quiet. I'm not saying it's loud, but when other patrons were leaving their massage, i could hear them talk and it affected my silent bliss. The have a parking lot and the staff was friendly. Would I go back for a massage? I'm not sure. So I guess it was ok, but not good enough for me to come back. read more

Ive been to this salon before about 3 years ago.. Joanne did my hair, she gave me caramel highlights, and it was beautifullllll! I love it soo much it was peek a boo highlight... This is my first time in 3 years that I had stepped foot back in this salon.. and it was just as beautiful as I remembered... My boyfriend and I walked through the door to walk to the receptionist and immediately we were greeted by Sam (who blow dried my hair) & another stylist, it was very pleasant and warm. The receptionist was very nice, and took me to a waiting room, so I can change into a smock. After I changed, I waited for Jess, not too long, about 10 minutes, I didnt mind waiting 10 mins... after she was done her little break, she came up to me and greeted me, and we had a little consultation... Off the bat I know getting my hair colored at rapunzel would be alittle bit more than my budget so then I ask approximately how much if I did a double process with bleach.. she broke it down to be very clearly. It was out of my budget, so I asked her what would be an alternative option... she said she would have to do partial highlights, bleach my hair then glaze it which the price was still high but I had enough for that and tip.. so we went with that... I showed her a picture of what color I had in mind... and she did such an amazing job on the color... at first I was scared to let anyone else touch my hair because I had a bad experience at another salon... but I went with my gut instinct and I trusted her... We did not talk much, but that was okay.. after she bleached my hair and glazed it.... Sam blow dried my hair, she was very friendly! The blow drying was okay, only because I was in a rush! ***the whole time jess was coloring my hair I did not have my glasses on... basically I was blind**** Finally after the blow drying and styling the red was EXACTLY how I wanted it.. its vibrant, yet subtle.. she knows what she's doing! Its very hard to find a very good stylist nowadays, since everyone wanna half ass their jobs... but off the bat I can tell jess was gonna make my hair look beautiful, since she had purple hair which was awesome!! So I trusted her.. my hair turned out amazingly, the service was great, friendly staff, and a beautiful salon! I definitely will return more frequently to Jess! From now on she's going to color my hair! On top of that I LOVEEEE the name of the salon Im so happy with my hair! im so happy we compromised and found a solution! In terms of the space it was definitely relaxing. The lights were dim and mood was set for tranquility. When u walk in u are greeted with friendly faces. U r directed to the lounge after someone takes ur coat. Kalu took care of my pregnancy massage which was so soothing that it almost sent me to sleep. Abbey did my facial about 10 minutes after and I do believe that I dozed off. It was so relaxing and she knew her way around the muscles in ur face but did not stay there. She massages further down and that's when I think I fell asleep. Then before I knew it my moment of bliss was over. It was a great start to my Valentine's Day. I am almost afraid to write this review, as it might draw more attention to the salon and make it harder for me to make an appointment! Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, this little gem has a great atmosphere, friendly staff (including the receptionist - which many of us know can be difficult to find lately) and knowledgeable stylists. I have been to this place twice in the past two months, because I have been so pleased with the experience. When walking in, you walk past all of the work stations to approach the receptionist desk, where you are immediately greeted with a smile and service. You are then personally lead to a seating area to wait (but service is so quick you barely have to wait at all) and are asked if you would like a beverage. The hair washing stations are comfortable and private, and the products (I believe they are using UNITE which I have not heard of, but am pleased with how soft and shiny it makes my hair) are of high quality. The salon is clean, very clean, and everyone here cares about the quality of service and overall appearance at all times. The stylist I LOVE is a junior stylist named Antonella, and she is AMAZING. She listens to what you want, and can give you EXACTLY what you ask for. While I have yet to get color here, I am pleased with the cut, blow-dry and style I have received. I will be returning to this salon, and becoming a regular for Antonella, and hope that you have as great of an experience as I have had! read more

I had a massage, manicure and pedicure here. The place is quite quirky which I like. I had a massage with Sandy and she was great. She gave me clear instructions and asked me my preferences. I didn't sleep for the massage, but I was relaxed. She worked out my kinks and I was happy as a noddle after. I believe Roxy did my mani and pedi. She was slightly abrasive but fun and did a great job with my nails. She gave tips and I left feeling great. I went to this salon twice. I will tell you the two very different experiences I had. The first visit went fairly well. I met with Russell and his assistant for the day. We went over my hair and his assistant helped pick out my color. He seemed knowledgeable and decided on partial highlights. I told him that I didn't mind if he did full or partial, the price didn't matter to me, I just wanted them to look good. The highlights came out nice. I also had a haircut that day with another gal and it went well. Six weeks later I returned for a highlights touch up. Russell had forgot who I was completely. The salon also lost the write up of my first visit. I was suprised and worried. Russell had a really bad attitude overall, he seemed very different than the first visit. He placed a book in front of me and asked me if I could find the color. Luckily I did remember which one. He only did the very center of my head this time. He didn't highlight the rest of my head in the same places he did before. He said that it would be a good touch up, I decided to trust him on that. (Wish I didn't) He asked me if I remember how to do the foils!? I replied that no I have never done that before and that his assistant did it the first time. It's wrong to have a good paying customer do the stylist's job. Customers are there to relax, not work! I wish I would have read the reviews, especially Christi P's. I had pretty much the same exact experience as her. Russell gave off the impression that your bothering him. His whole deamenor, body language etc. The results of the "touch up"? My hair basically didn't look like I had them done.The day of I didn't see how poor they were. He only did half of the highlights he did before and only along the exact part line only. I was left with all different sizes outgrowth and could not do much with my hair. The lighting was low and because I didn't get a haircut that day, they don't blow dry your hair. I didn't need a haircut, since it had only been six weeks. Rapunzels: You should change that policy or have exceptions for customers who alternate between haircuts and more frequent color. Customers pay really good money for highlights, and most people get highlights touched up much more than a haircut. I left with damp hair and the lady at the front desk asked me I received a "blow out"! If I could, I would nominate this place for Tabatha's Salon Takeover! 3 stars mostly because we went for a couples massage and one of us came out happy and one sore! I said ouch, please go softer and would noticeably flinch when it start to hurt. She would ease up for a few minute and then go right back to being too tough. Maybe I am just sensitive or didn't speak up enough. But I will keep it in mind for where ever I end up next. DH said he had a gentle relaxing massage though, so not all bad! The building is much bigger than it looks, and was kept clean and we were comfortable. I was confused why they would point out they provided shampoos, but not provide any other grooming options for after the shower like a comb/blow dryer/etc. read more

And then went back to have my hair done and I am very happy. They are really busy and you need to be flexible with which hair stylist you go with. Went to Rapunzels for a haircut by Justine for the 1st time... No waiting...Great atmosphere inside (especially since it doesn't look like much from outside... Receptionist, uber sweet... Justine came for me, as soon as I sat (sweet), and we had a whirlwind time together!! She's just like one of your old friends from home... Easy to talk too, super sweet, and on top of that... Does GREAT hair!! I asked for a pixie cut (super short) and we talked and talked as she cut, and I got a really cute pixie!! Just what I wanted... I moved to the area a few months ago and had been having the hardest time finding a good salon. This was the third salon I tried. I guess the third time's the charm! I was looking to fix up a very bad razored cut from the last salon I went to, and the stylist at Rapunzel's did an amazing job of cutting out the razored cut without compromising the length of my hair -- which was exactly what I asked for. I've been going here for years! No other salon I've been to can get my hair to look as good as they do. I've tried just about everyone at Rapunzel's and I have never been disappointed. Currently my colorist is Megan who is amazing. Weather I'm going darker, lighter, or just covering up my grays she always gives me what I want and then some! I've had my hair cut with almost everyone there, and they always give me the best cut that works well with my hair (curly and crazy). Plus I always leave with an amazing blow out! I purchased a gift card for my sister during Christmas and now she is hooked! She usually gets her hair done with Jessica. My Mother goes to Justine for her hair and has never looked better! Their spa is amazing as well, they have the best massage therapist, who can cater to anyone needs! I have never been disappointed with any service I've received at Rapunzel's. I always recommend everyone I know to them. They are reasonably priced as well. Plus, if you sign up for their email club on their website they send out AMAZING deals weekly. I have not been to the new location yet, so I will only speak to the services I've had performed. I have gotten 2 massages at Rapunzels this past year and enjoyed both of them thoroughly. The spa waiting area was very nice and quiet. They provided water and comfortable couches to sit on. The room in which I had the massage was very serene. My masseuse asked about my preferences and made me feel very comfortable. She would ask if she was pressing too hard or if I was okay throughout. If you are expecting a top of the line spa, this isn't the place, but for the price they do a pretty good job. They oftentimes have groupons and specials advertised on their site, and they also accept SpaFinder and SpaWish giftcards. I'll definitely continue to go back here and can't wait to see the new location! read more
