I have curly hair and when booking asked for someone who has experience cutting curly hair. Tatyana was the person they scheduled me with. She was great, she knew how to work with curly hair and even how to style it (which I can't say is true for many other hair stylists). I came out really happy with how my hair felt and looked. Before she started she did offer to do a "special" haircut for me for curly hair which was double the price. I do appreciate that she warned me about the price but just wish there was more explanation of this special haircut. If I will spend double the price for something I would like to understand why. I called to make my first appointment and expressed how nervous I was about Covid since I have a young baby at home. When I arrived, I was stunned to see none of the stylists were masked. This would have been good to know when I had first called and expressed my concern. I was kicking myself for not asking. Lesson learned moving forward! For me, it was a no brainer and I assumed they would be masked, especially with the Delta variant being transmissible despite vaccination. When I asked at the door if Sharon, the owner who I had my appointment with, could tell me if her staff was at least vaccinated - she replied hastily (almost defensively) that it was against HIPPA to tell me that. She said instead "let's just say we do what the CDC has mandated" - I said, "I'm sorry but I'm not really clear what that means" (since CDC has not "required" vaccination), she responded "um. vaccination" and shot the other stylist standing there a look. I felt shunned but somewhat appeased since the insinuation was that the staff was vaccinated. I nervously proceeded to get the cut and have regretted doing so because I was super uncomfortable without her being masked the entire time. I pressed further at one point, looking for some safety reassurance, and was told "I don't want to talk about this. Why don't we just talk about your hair" I also heard comments about how she had covid and "it really wasn't that bad" - All in all, I was not at all reassured and didn't feel any warmth or safety. I did get a decent haircut, but nothing worth the discomfort or risking exposure for. I did not get a good vibe from Vibe Hair Studio. I should've trusted my gut when I first saw they were unmasked and were kinda rude to me about my concerns and just left. Thought it was worth leaving a review for those who are super diligent and concerned like I am about covid. I know I would've appreciated seeing this in a review before making my appointment. read more

I am attending a wedding from out of town. I found the reviews on yelp and decided to give them a try. Wow! Nicole did my makeup which looked perfect. She was great about talking to me about what I wanted from my makeup and how it was going to work with the rest of my hair and 2 outfits for the day. Naomi did my hair. She listened to how my hair takes to curls but too much product will make it fall. She styled it exactly how I had envisioned for myself. Absolutely LOVE Salon Esperenza and their team! Whenever I walk out I feel badass and like I was just pampered for the last house. The environment is very warm and welcoming - it's like you're walking into your favorite family's home. I love Sharon - she's done my hair so many times I've lost count (I've been seeing her since she became the owner 6 years ago). They have done some recent upgrades/renovations and I love the rustic chic look! This past Saturday I was in to color my hair for the first time. I had hi-lites and balayage done. I was nervous going into it because I've never colored my hair before, but I absolutely loved the whole process and I'm THRILLED with the results!! Sharon did a phenomenal job. It looks so natural but also fresh and clean. I found this place last year through yelp when I moved to the area from Philly. Danielle has been my absolute favorite since then. She would listen patiently to what you are looking for and knows exactly what would look good on you. I called and from the receptionist to my actual visit It has been a great experience. Christina is ADOREABLE! Great haircut and bayalage - she took her time and got to know me. Everyone is friendly and treats me like an old friend every time I walk in. Danielle is my stylist and does an amazing job. I went to Vibe hair studio to get microblading done by Jillian. I basically have no eyebrows and very light blonde hair so I was very nervous. IT WAS AMAZING! I want to point out how phenomenal the customer service was (by all employees there) from the moment I called to the moment I walked out after my appointment. Had a haircut by Sarah today, and it was amazing. We talked about the style I wanted in details. She answered my questions and concerns and we eventually went with a alternative that works better with my hair. It's been 7-8 years since the last time I got my hair cut short. She went little by little to make sure she didn't cut too much and I was not panicking. She trimmed at least 4-5 times before we agreed it was the right length. So once upon a time I was sitting at my desk checking out my busted tresses going "I need a haircut, immediately." I called over to Salon E and snagged a same day appointment in lieu of lunch. Sharon, the owner was awesome getting me in so quickly and said "Veronica is available at 12:15." Sure will, I thought and bippity boppity boo, I was booked. I hopped in my chariot and without wait, I was in the chair on time. My long, still busted, tresses needed some major TLC and Veronica was my new fairy godmother. I showed her pics of styles I wanted (my godmother likes pictures) and she was able to decipher through exactly what I wanted. A bit over an hour later, I was washed, cut, dried and styled and it was one of the best haircuts I have ever had. None of the "we'll only take an inch off" nonsense that leaves me jaw-dropped watching 4 inches of my ends fall to the floor. A nightmare for us below-the-bra-strap long haired gals. The cut was so modern, fun, and gave my hair so much movement. A++++ Fast forward a week or two later and I was back for my second appointment when I was afforded a little more time to play with color. Duh, I'm back in Veronica's chair for balayage. A fun cpl hours later I was bouncing out of the salon with beautiful balayage and lots of hair smelling, touching, and playing. Another excellent job by Veronica. A+++++++ Over a month later, and I'm still loving the cut and color. Yes it took me a month to write this because I didn't want to spill the Yelp beans on my new fav gal at Salon Esperanza, potentially complicating my chances of getting appointments. This is an amazing little secret stashed away in a strip mall in Ambler. It takes the knowledge, know-how, and professional treatment of a big expensive salon and places it in an intimate, friendly setting. The atmosphere is great - there's the token no-nonsense matronly figure that is Meryl as a permanent fixture behind the front desk, ready to call you "honey" and help you pay and set up your next appointment. There's the constant lively chatter that makes you feel like you're hanging out with friends. And there's the snacks and water and all the gossip magazines you can imagine, so during those rare lulls in the conversation, you have plenty of other things to keep you occupied. Then there's Sharon - the owner and my hairdresser. Being a lifelong tomboy and having little attachment to my hair, I rarely know what the hell I want to do with it when I walk in. But she ALWAYS takes that in stride, gently reminding me that I should come in more than once a year to maintain my color or coaxing me into blow-drying my hair at home. She has no problem sitting and talking for a while to get a sense of what I'm really looking for, and even takes me back into the color room or browsing through hair cut magazines to show me how each shade works and what it would look like on me specifically. She even heard me tell her "I'm comfortable with that shade.", and knew what I really meant was "Oh my god that shade is too much for me!"...you can't get better one-on-one treatment than that! She's a pro makeup artist too - I had her do my hair and make-up for my wedding (again, keep the tomboy mentality in mind), and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome: classy, tasteful makeup and an understated updo. You'll leave her salon chair with, not only a beautiful head of hair, but some tips and tricks to try at home. Overall, this place is great - everyone is friendly, you won't find any teenage hair washers texting on their phones when they're supposed to be rinsing you off here, and for just undergoing new management, the place has settled into a great salon with loyal clients returning again and again. They run a ton of specials, which makes their prices very reasonable. Although I haven't experienced it, they do have a nail technician as well, and same story: friendly and chatty with her clients, who seem to all be regulars. read more

I found this place on Yelp and I am so glad that I did. Salon Esperanza has been my salon for about a year now. From my very first consult until now, it has been A+ service. The owner (Sharon) even came over to give her input on my first visit and I was happy for the help. It was obvious that had been coloring my own hair for a long time (hey, it was $9.99 a box) BUT I didn't get a lecture or any snobby attitude about the state of my tresses. Sometimes going to a new salon is like going to the dentist. "So....you don't floss....." is the same as "So....you dyed this yourself....." I appreciated not being judged. We all made cutbacks during the recession and I gave up going to a salon for a long time. I won't tell you who my stylist is because I don't want anyone stealing her. I will say that I leave that place happy each and every time. I get a lot of compliments on my hair and always tell people where I go. My stylist listens to what I want and offers suggestions. She gets me. You want your stylist to get you. I always look forward to my appointment and catching up with her. The experience alone of getting my hair professionally done is much better than me sitting in front of the TV, doing it myself and spilling dye on the floor. This is a place where everyone is friendly and welcoming. Heck I would hang out there in my free time and drink coffee if they let me. The atmosphere is that great. If I have any criticism, it is what they charge to blow dry/style. That service itself is more than I'm willing to pay, but they do let you use a station and dry/style your own hair if you want to. This is an option I haven't seen a lot of different places. So at least you don't have to leave with a wet head if you don't want to shell out the extra cash. To me, a good salon is like a good mechanic. When you find the right one, you stick with them until one of you dies or moves away. I will keep coming back. read more
