I've always believed in the mission of Goodwill, but lately have been disillusioned because prices seem to be sky high (higher than Ross and Target some times ) for used clothing. Not just used, but disgusting and gross-smelling stuff sometimes in places. This store, RARE in Anaheim, is rare indeed. Everything is super organized; staff is everywhere to help in a friendly fashion; and the store is beautifully decorated with chandeliers and hanging cacti. Best of all, the sign is made by someone's great penmanship on used books (see picture). Good find !!!! read more

When I first discovered Rare By Goodwill, I assumed that it was going to have higher-end donations by the way that it is advertised in store and online. When I actually got there, I realized that it was nothing more than standard Goodwill product but organized better in a store with more ambiance. So basically, they are selling regular Goodwill inventory for a bit of a higher price. The interior is very nice, it has a cool modern vibe to it that I really enjoyed. Staff was nice but forgot to honor all my discounts and I didn't notice until I looked at my receipt. They had to refund the entire transaction and charge my card again vs crediting the difference back to my card or in cash. That was a little inconvenient. I might return if I am in the area but it's nothing that I will go out of my way for again. read more

It's okay for a goodwill -- didn't think they had enough "cooler" stuff that was too different from a regular ol goodwill though, but it seems like the prices weren't too different anyway. Maybe just caught them on a bad day. I also felt like I was going to faint the entire time I was in there, so that could've impacted my experience. read more

Great little thrift shop! Glad I came here. Very clean and classy. Didn't look like a regular thrift shop at first but a cute boutique. Clothes are organized neatly and great name brand items. Prices are reasonable though some people think it's a little pricy but considering buying named brand and great usable quality makes the price great. Most are $10 and under. I also found that this place is great place to shop for vintage records. You are able to play them and make sure they are playable before purchasing. Glad I found this place!! Love this Goodwill, RARE Gem. I love how the clothes is always well organized like an Urban Outfitters or Holister. You can always find Disney Merchandise here as well. It's a little pricey for some people but I think it's affordable and reasonable. read more

Personally I didn't find much. The Goodwill Boutique in Tustin seemed to have more high end brands and better prices. It was a pleasant place to shop with everything neatly presented and the workers were welcoming. read more

as someone who's been dying to come here, it disappointed me today. parking was the most challenging obstacle to overcome so my friends and i ended up parking at a 90 minute spot in front of the store (located in the picture). prices are fair, but items were very limited. maybe i came on a day that everything was over picked but unsure if i will ever come back. read more

Think Urban Outfitters, but cheaper. For men, they have a lot of name brand clothing and jeans for a quarter of the price of the big box shops. Most of the stuff is in great to almost new condition, so you're not getting someone's afterthought. The business also offers antique items and they are REALLY affordable. The furniture seems to move the fastest as they really are a steal. We saw an old dresser in fantastic shape be put out on to the floor and within an hour it was gone before my friend went to go check it out. It was only $68, so I could see why someone didn't hesitate to swipe up the deal! I loved that they had the record listening stations so you could listen to the albums before you purchased. It made me nostalgic for the days that I used to hang out at Amoeba or the old school Virgin records to just sit and listen to a bands product in its entirety before purchasing. The prices are super reasonable and they have a good rotating selection, too! Think multifarious merchandise. Think outdoor swap meet. Think shopping mall. Think Urban Outfitters w/ a thrift shop twist. Shake that all up and you end up with this concoction here at RARE. I absolutely love the glass windows and fishbowl location. Staff here appears hard at work (never just standing around twiddling thumbs) and eager to assist. Literature section neat and structured; random dolls, trinkets and art cascading throughout the sales floor, bucket of wallets (I found a Roxy one for $4.99, yippy me!), men's and women's apparel, vinyl and odds and ends. The store has a great chunk of higher ended brands, it just takes a brief excavation to hit that unique discovery item. And if you don't find anything for you here, you could always scurry along to a Goodwill location nearby (Lincoln & State College or Crescent & Euclid), where they still have a wider assortment of almost everything. read more

Today is the grand opening! This is by far the nicest goodwill that I've ever been to. The decor is like urban apparel, and everything is for sale! There is a giant assortment of sweaters and denim for both ladies and the men folk. Everything is separated in order by item and clearly priced. Towards the right is the building is a pretty good assortment of records and some awesome and well priced old timey time home accessories. The staff was super nice and attentive. They were all working super hard to keep everything nice and folded. read more

I didn't even know this place existed! I happened to drive by it when I was finding parking to feed my poke bowl craving lol My friend and I gave this little place a visit after our meal and were pleasantly surprised by the selection. It felt more like a Buffalo Exchange than a Good will. I really loved that they had a vinyl records section. I listened to my first vinyl: the sounds of a solo whale. Pretty cool. I also feel in love with their corner book shelf nook display! Adorable. They stacked books up against the wall and painted letters. I think it said "We are not ordinary. We are RARE." This place is very reminiscent of Buffalo exchange down the street in Fullerton. It's a very upscale Goodwill with only the best products, mostly clothing. The parking isn't the best. I had to park a few blocks away and walk over; granted I did visit after 5pm on a Friday. The store is mostly clothing. And everything is a little more on the expensive side. Some of the pants as expensive as $24.99. Some of the vintage cameras and records were worth the price tag though. The staff wasn't very attentive. I had to go searching to find someone to help me get to the fitting room. Once I found someone, I had to find them again because they got distracted. Overall, it filters out the good and the bad but it's still a place that you have to be really patient with. Not somewhere I'd come every week or two but it was worth a one -time visit. read more

Visited this location as I saw a flyer and wondered what the Goodwill stores were up to calling this their newest retail space, and anything but ordinary... RARE by Goodwill. It was a nice retail-like space and appearance, not like the usual Goodwill stores with clothing sorted by color on hangers. The men's shirts and tees were set on tables and neatly folded which I actually didn't care for as you had to still look for the size and had to search for those tags by lifting those you think you might like and in the size you want. Some shirts were hanging in another area to the side, not sure what made them hang some and not others. In that sense I would suggest hanging everything from hangers or the employees will be constantly folding and refolding everything which I would hate to do all day unless that is what they prefer. Jeans were simply laid out on the tables, again you had to handle everything to search for the size label. Other pants were on hangers. Didn't notice any color coded plastic tags or stickers so not certain if they have the 50% off on the color of the day like at the regular Goodwill stores. Books were in the back corner and set up in a unique tiered level design and they have seat cushions to allow you to sit and browse through the books. I liked how they placed books on the wall behind the shelving and decorated it with their name. General merchandise is set on tables and larger things on the floor and it works well unless they begin to bring in too many items then it will just look too cluttered like the other Goodwill stores, but this one is definitely heading in a new direction. read more

I found this store going to the Clerk Recorders Office. Hidden little gem. I love a good thrift store and this did not disappoint. My only draw back would be parking, and that's not the stores fault. I got lucky the first time, but definitely lucked out the second visit. Definitely worth going to, and I can't wait to go back! I definitely see what everyone means by saying it's a Goodwill with an Urban Outfitter vibe. I like the name RARE. It's quite fitting for a thrift shop that tries to maintain trendiness. It's basically Goodwill curated to be hipster. The store front is appealing. My favorite parts of this place are the interior design & layout and the really cool old books! I had my eye on an I Love Lucy one.. I may go back and get it so let's pretend I didn't just advertise it on this review, okay? There's even a record listening station (yes they sell records!) and a book lounge. Super cool. I will say that some of the clothing pieces are a little pricey ($12.99?!) for used items. But they also have some good deals (e.g., 25% off 7.99 shorts). Goodwill in general has become more expensive in the last few years (Remember when thrift stores sold clothes for less than five bucks?).. But I guess the prices at RARE are somewhat worth it because it saves you time from having to sort through racks on racks on racks of oversized and outdated clothing. I'm a Goodwill regular in Az and this was my first time in a Rare. It was super clean and set up like a typical boutique style store. Mostly clothes but I did find dishes and art at prices lower than usual at the typical Goodwills. My items were packaged nicely and the staff was really helpful. Not much in the way of jewelry here but tons of albums and record players to test them out. Looking forward to checking out other locations in Cali! Traveler Tip: there isn't a restroom here but you can use the one in the ice rink across the way. On Thursdays there is a food truck event down the street. read more

Randomly walked by this place and thought it was a random hipster clothing shop that played into the theme of the area...but then noticed it said "Goodwill." Wait, as in the used thrift store Goodwill?? Interest piqued... First, I was surprised by how clean and modern the place looked. The store was noticeably split between women and men's apparel...not like your typical Goodwill where it looks like the store vomited clothes everywhere in a non-organized, disheveled, frustrating manner. What can one say about this little gem of a store. Well, let's start with this. First of all you're helping people with disabilities by shopping there. This makes you an extraordinary person, the most amazing human, a compassionate person. With all this said, when you've overspent because it will happen. You can simply justify it by saying, you're helping mankind. Now to the store itself, this is not your ordinary Goodwill store. The store is a lot like any other trendy boutique that is out there. Very well decorated, they paid attention to every little detail when they designed the layout of the store. It's an open plan with the left side of the store catering to the women and the right side catering to the men, some furniture and home decorative items. It's a cool store, one must go see it. Now on to the merchandise. The selection of clothing here is carefully selected. Most is slightly used and most is designer clothing. I've scored Lucky Brand, Coach, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade and many more. Be weary of fake designer stuff, there is some of that in the store but overall, they do a great job selecting the pieces. Definitely a very neat concept for a boutique style Goodwill location. Things are set up differently here so you can shop more easily than trying to sort through the standard piles in the other locations. It most definitely has a boutique vibe and there are plenty of other places (food, shops, etc) within walking distance as well. I was very tempted to buy one of the awesome vintage type writers they had on the shelves. Such a neat concept, and a definite must check it out store for those that enjoy vintage finds. It's kind of the Forever 21 of Goodwill. Not a bad place. Hubby and I were just in the area and I needed to find something for my mom. A good amount of clothes, but it was a little tight to get past other shoppers to get to a particular area in the store. They also have household odds and ends towards the far right-side, including books. Prices are much higher than regular Goodwills, I feel. I honestly have not shopped for clothes at a Goodwill since high school, but I remember when shirts were, like $2.99 or $3.99, but shirts here were around $8 or so. Purses varied in price, but one of them was for $30. Service was okay. The cashier girl was talking to her co-worker for at least 5 minutes, with her back towards the cash register. Her co-worker either didn't notice us or just wanted to ignore us, and we just didn't get helped (even though we were 3 feet away from her) until around 5 minutes later. A little annoying. But, they seemed nice enough and were polite. read more

Rare is basically a Goodwill thrift store with all of the cute and good quality stuff. Items: Mostly in good conditions. Every now and then, you would see designer brands for cheap, such as Michael Kors and Jeffrey Campbell. Most women's tops are like Forever 21, rare Hello Kitty shirts, etc. They also have men's clothing, books & vintage items. Pricing: It depends on the brand. Most tops I saw were around $9, which is cheaper than Urban Outfitters, pricier than a regular thrift store. Pricing is similar to what Buffalo Exchange offers. Organization: The t-shirts for both men & women are poorly organized. You basically have to mess up the folded stack of shirts to see the print and size. I wish the store can organize it a little better, maybe stack up the shirts by size and make the printing more visible to see, without us messing it up. Donating: Since Rare is a Goodwill store, I'm assuming the store takes donations only (not a consignment clothing store!) But I think the store needs to have signs or something to make it clear for customers that are interested in donating. I definitely see potential though! read more

This place has gone down hill. It used to look like a cute boutique, but has now changed to a yard sale. Lots of clothes are just folded and people have to dig through. Nothing is organized by size. The accessories they used to have are now only a few pairs of sunglasses. The racks (the few they have) are now stuffed and crowed, which is typical Goodwill. Why am I going to pay a few more dollars per item to dig here when I could just go to a regular Goodwill? I'm not going to waist my time here again. read more

Men's clothing, books, trinkets and toys are all sort of shoved in a small section to the right while women's clothing took up most of the store.
