I love a good dimsum place! The Saturday I went for lunch, there were people waiting out the door, but the host sat us shortly after we checked in. The ambience is bright red and gold, and I love that they still serve the dimsum in carts. The food was so yummy - no complaints at all. My favorite dishes were the custard egg buns, the tripe, and the rice porridge. My husband really liked their rice rolls with shrimp. The staff was attentive, and I liked the taste of their tea! All in all, it's a great vibe in here - lots of happy customers, and the food is delicious!

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 First time trying dim sum in Central Jersey and pleasantly surprised! The quality holds up pretty well compared to NYC spots. Big plus: generous portion sizes, especially if you order stir-fried dishes. Highlights: Beef Chow Fun 4.5/5: Huge portion with great wok hei (charred flavor) Shrimp Rice Roll 4.5/5: Super fresh and silky Tripe 4.25/5: Classic tripe, nicely seasoned, good texture Siu Mai 3.5/5: Decent, but didn't taste super fresh Har Gow 3/5: Filling was good but the wrapper lacked freshness Tofu Skin Roll 2.5/5: Least favorite - texture and flavor fell flat Overall, a solid dim sum spot worth checking out if you're in the area!

While their prices have raised, I have to continue to compliment this place for the abundant of food that is taken account. Coming here for New Year's Eve for dinner left us satisfied and full.

    - Spacious dining room with a mix of seating arrangements--some tables a bit tight, others more spread out; traditional dim sum atmosphere with a steady weekend crowd - Large parking lot, but it fills up fast during peak brunch hours; we arrived at 12:40 PM on a Saturday and waited about 15-20 minutes with a few groups ahead - Efficient and quick service, though you'll need to be a little assertive to flag someone down; the staff is always on the move; the classic push carts (plus a few tray-carrying servers) add a nostalgic touch - Limited but solid selection of dim sum--you have your usual shu mai, har gow, rice rolls, and chicken feet; completely ran out of baked pork buns and had to wait for the next round of egg tarts; flavors were good, food was hot and fresh, portions were fair - Reasonable pricing overall, especially for current times--that said, we noticed a billing error after leaving--an $11 "K" item charged instead of the $7 "E" dish we actually had--hopefully just an honest mistake, but something to watch for - Would I come back, but I'd double-check the bill next time

My wife's family love Hop Kee in Chinatown NYC and they never believed me that they all pretty much taste the same because it was a few uncles that taught other uncles how to make the same food. We usually come here for Dimsum on weekends usually once a quarter. lately we've been coming here for dinner where we have an Noah Ark's feast. we usually order a salt pepper pork, a roast duck, a chicken dish, a steamed fish like a flounder, my work place associates love coming here only if I can order for them.

Dare I say it: the food here, in Jersey, might be better than the Cantonese food you'll find in the melting pot of NYC. I've dined here for dim sum breakfast countless times on Sunday mornings, along with the multitude of families that are looking for quality cheung fun & baos in NJ. The dim sum was fresh, flavorful, had a great variety & this location is one of the few that I've been to that still has dishes pushed out on carts, with ample space to actually get through the entire restaurant. This is the benefit of being in Jersey & having space I suppose! More recently my family has dined in for dinner to celebrate the new year. While most days driving past the restaurant the parking lot is empty, it was definitely busy for the holiday. This is important to note since I'm sure this restaurant isn't used to an influx of diners / a busy dinner service, so if you notice that there are a few tables dining with you during your visit, it might take a bit longer to get your meal. The phrase "good food takes time" comes into play though, because our wait was well worth it. After trying a variety of dishes, we ultimately came to the conclusion that the food had so much flavor and constantly compared it to the restaurants in NYC. There's no competition here -- DimSum Seafood Restaurant definitely won by a landslide. A standout dish that took us by surprise was the teriyaki steak - a dish where the meat took no effort to chew and had an incredible sauce that wasn't overly sweet. The chrysanthemum tea provided with our meal was a fun surprise as well, something most restaurants don't serve unless you ask for it! The food here is family style so expect big portions and lots of sharing with your table. With the portions being huge and meant for sharing, it does mean it will take longer to prepare & they do not wait to bring all food out at once. This is typical with Cantonese restaurants and so important to remember prior to dining here. The staff was all extremely attentive, constantly checking in with my family to ensure all our food arrived and swiftly refilling beverages when we were running low. As with any Chinese restaurant, it can get quite noisy when dining in (with both patrons and staff yelling to overpower the surrounding noise) -- but that makes the experience even more fun! The family can't stop raving about this hidden gem, located in a neighborhood that isn't primarily Chinese dominated and not surrounded by other Asian restaurants/stores. One bite of the food here & you'll be hooked as well!

I know looking for a Chinese restaurant can be tricky. It's really hard to trust people's rating. Now, here are the couple of ways to know this place is legit! Mostly all the customers are Asian and gotta be loud. Also, you can smell good food as soon as you open the door. Now, I been coming here for years! This place never seems to disappoint. Food is always delicious. You can tell the chef been cooking there for years. If you don't understand or don't know what to order. The staff there are always friendly and helpful. They do have DimSum on the weekend for lunch but I prefer coming here for the dinner. Hope this helps you. Enjoy!

I was not ready for this place. The food is great. The chicken skin is so crisp that you would think it was fried and not baked. The soup dumplings were so tasty and meaty and juicy and goodness. . The service is ok but they don't speak much English. The place is very lively and people really enjoy the food. Now I'm taking a star off because the it's not the cleanest place. The carpeting needs to go.

We have been coming to place for years with the family. The ambiance gives traditional chinese old school dim sum feel. We usually come only for dim sum and service is quick. The workers pushing around the carts with the food and customers pick what they want. Food is good but some items come more on the undercooked side. I never got around to write a review about this place. This is one of our top 5 favorite Dim sum spot restaurants.

Good authentic Cantonese style push cart dim sum. Many places in NYC doing away with push cart and it is still a tradition here. The anxiety of waiting and seeing the cart arrive can be stressful for some. But it's an enjoyable experience to eat slowly and order items as they come. Some of my favorite items are still here but some are no longer being made. Overall quality as of late is consistent and good. Even better than majority of places in NYC. You still have the experience of a very raw, noisy, and busy service experience where loud dish stacking and dropping noises and people laughing and talking. That is the kind of atmosphere the community expects.

This place is a little out of the way for me and my family, but we continue to come back because we think it's the best in the area. Clearly everyone else does too because it gets PACKED, so make sure to come early! The environment is the perfect amount of chaotic for a dimsum place with the rolling carts, which is really nice since you get the see the food as you order it. The food is always really good! My personal dimsum favorites are the deep fried taro dumpling (with a savory pork/mushroom filling), egg tarts, and the salted egg yolk bun. My only complaint with this place is that they don't always have everything, like they have egg tarts maybe 50% of the times we've gone.

2025 and this Dim Sum Spot is the place to eat for Authentic Chinese Cuisine. It's all about the Food & Portions. You will leave with a full stomach. The price is reasonable; won't break your wallet. It's an old fashion restaurant, don't expect to see high tech devices/ technology or modern scenery/ decorations. Plenty of parking . It's roomy . The service is at their own pace. When the food is ready , it serviced fresh steam appetizer dishes. The majority of customers are senior citizens. They eat and socialize for a good 2 hrs. That's why service is at slow pace . Not Bad for a Dim Sum in NJ.

    Nehal A.

This is still the best Dim Sum place in North NJ in my opinion. The dim sum items are fresh and delicious. Lots of cart and trays go around the restaurant, so never a long wait time before we get our items. Prices are decent. Dining area is huge, but very congested when it's full house. We got the shrimp dumplings, shu mai, beef tripe, sticky rice, rice dough, all these items were excellent. Their chili sauce makes the meal even better. The service is still good. Staff are friendly and do their best with serving items from the cart. We drive almost an hour to dine here, that's how much we adore this place :p

Ask the Community - DimSum Seafood Restaurant

Do they take apple pay or Google pay?

    Yes, they accept Apple Pay.

Is dim sum served all day here or does it switch over to a regular Chinese restaurant after a certain hour?

Most Dim Sum dishes are served there daily. Some of the more complicated and unique dishes are served only on the weekends. I believe it is indicated on their menus.

Is there a restaurant website to order takeout?

Sorry, I'm afraid there isn't :T You have to order in person or by phone.

Is dim sum on weekends only or is it 7 days a week?

You can order dim sum during the week but some dishes are only on weekends.

Do they serve alcoholic drinks? Wine? Beer?

No, BYOB. They can provide the glasses and chill the bottle in an ice bath for you at your table. You can show up with a bottle without informing them and they'll be ready to prep it for you but I think it's nice to let them know ahead of time.

Do I need to make reservation?

Reservations are always helpful, especially when you have a large group or during their busy hours

Is it open for take out order?

They used to be all week. For the past few weeks, they've switched over to weekend take out only. I've posted pics of their current take out menu. I'll upload their dimsum menu.

Instead, I found a clean, efficient dim sum spot with surprisingly good food. The self-service concept worked really well. You order at the counter, pick up your own food, and there is no tipping. I actually like this system because at traditional dim sum restaurants you often spend more time waiting for carts or servers than eating. One thing that really impressed me was the cleanliness. The restaurant isn't newly renovated, but it's well maintained. After each table left, the staff cleaned with fresh sanitizing wipes instead of using the same cloth over and over. They also serve everything with disposable plates and utensils, which personally gives me more confidence than reusable tableware that isn't always cleaned thoroughly. The food was consistently good. The lotus leaf sticky rice was fragrant, the rice noodle roll with fried dough had a great texture, and the Teochew dumplings were generously filled. The standout dish was the stuffed trio. The shrimp paste was fresh and springy, the fried tofu was crispy, and getting eggplant, tofu, and green pepper on one plate made it easy to try a little of everything.
