Since moving to Tampa, I have been hunting for a good local Indian restaurant and had Rasoi on my try list for a long time. This weekend, we decided to give it a try on a rainy Friday night. This is a beautiful space located in Ybor. Sadly it was raining, but the outside patio will be lovely to visit when the weather is nice. The inside is charming and decorated nicely. We shared the chicken Tikka Masala and chicken saag with garlic naan (of course!). Everything was delicious and we enjoyed the Taj Mahal beer and Rupee IPA with our meal. I definitely recommend getting an Indian beer with dinner! Our server was very friendly and took good care of us - honestly all the staff was really nice. We didn't feel rushed and really were able to enjoy our dinner and conversations before the check came. This will definitely be our local go to for Indian food. My friends treated me to a surprise birthday lunch at Rasoi. I'm sure that skews my review a little, but the meal I had was fantastic. They have a lunch menu with smaller priced & portioned meals. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. The meal arrived with a couple of chutneys, naan bread, basmati rice, a samosa. & some sort of soup that tasted like maybe daal pea soup or garlicky chickpeas. In any event the soup was ok. The samosa was delicious. The 2 chutneys were mint & probably tamarind. The star of the meal was the chicken. The dish tasted full of seasonings & spices & fall apart chicken. The tomato base to this dish & seasonings were extremely satisfying. I ordered it mild & it was just a 2 out of 10 in heat. This place was everything! I joined some coworkers on a last minute lunch on a Friday afternoon. I'd never been before but I'd been craving Indian food for a while when i got the invitation so I definitely did NOT hesitate to accept. We arrived a little bit before the lunch rush which I'm glad we did bc it was getting busy not long after we sat down. I was pleased to see they had a lunch menu which had so many options no matter what your vibe is. Vegetarian, chicken, beef, lamb, seafood! There's something for everyone! I went with the Lamb Rogan Josh. Let me tell you, this was a few days ago already and I have yet to stop thinking about this meal omggggg! The lamb was incredibly tender and soooo flavorful! The lunch meal comes with the entree, a side of rice, soup and an appetizer! Not to mention your meal comes out with fresh baked naan! I'm so glad i went with the Lamb. This isn't something I'd normally go with but when i saw the description on the menu I couldn't resist! I ordered the Aloo Gobhi (V) a vegetarian dish consisting of the following: potato & cauliflower cooked in fried onions, crush tomato with spices which costs $17.99. The garlic nan bread & samosas are really good, I suggest ordering some if you decide to visit. The drinks were good and if ordered before 7 pm you can get specialty drinks/cocktails which range from 9-12 dollars for 6 dollars due to happy hour. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Lovely ambiance inside with outdoor seating available also. Street parking is available but I suggest parking in the parking garage near 7/11 which is typically most affordable! My partner became a vegetarian this year and finally decided to come around to Indian food for the vegetarian meals. I've always liked Indian food and he recommended Rasoi as we were downtown for the afternoon. Who am I to say no? I previewed the menu earlier in the day and already knew what I wanted, the Mango Chicken. We arrived about a half hour after opening and sat outside. The inside restaurant was beautiful, but the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. The menu was extensive!! Our server brought our waters and after a few minutes of him looking over the menu (he doesn't plan like me), I ordered the Mango Chicken, he ordered the Daal Tadka, both medium spice, and an order of Tandoori Roti. It exceeded our expectations! The Tandooori Roti was warm, crunchy, and when dipped into both meals was heaven in your mouth. I loved his Daal Tadka with the warm Earthy spices with the lentils. I'm not vegan, but would have been completely satisfied ordering this! The Mango Chicken was moist, full of flavor and perfect amount of spice. I just wished there were bigger chunks of mango. The rice was cooked PERFECTLY and the heat in both meals was what I expected when we said medium heat. Just enough, not over powering. I wished we ordered another serving of the Tandoori Roti. We arrived barely after 5PM to only one other couple eating there, so we basically had the place to ourselves. The staff was polite and friendly, really wanted to refill my water, and finally, served us the meal we were anticipating. The spicy Chana Masala hit the spot, while the Aloo Gobi was so savory and filling. Garlic Naan smelled heavenly and made it easy to clean our plates. Parking Tip: go to the garage behind the 7-Eleven. It cost us $2 while the parking lot next to the restaurant wanted to charge a flat $10 to parking until midnight. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, and the bread basket featuring all of the varieties of naan that they have available. All of the main dishes also come with rice. We loved all the food. It was all fresh, flavorful, and of good quality. Things I didn't like: The service was not the best and it was a slow Sunday night. I heard the table behind us didn't receive the drinks they had ordered and we were unable to get water refills during our meal. Overall, a good meal with great Indian food. This place is a gem. We came on a Friday night around 7:30. It was moderately busy, but we were able to be seated just fine. We were given great service; everyone was very attentive. The food was amazing. Our table tried a variety of things, and we loved everything. I heard good things about Rasoi so I decided to give them a try for dinner. Nestled in Ybor City, this restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining. I have passed this place for years without even realizing that this restaurant existed. The menu is quite extensive and offers a variety of the popular and well known Indian dishes we all have heard of and love. They also have a full bar. I started my meal with samosas which were fried fresh and served hot. They were delicious, probably the best I have had in a long time. I had a hard time deciding on my entrée because there are so many Indian dishes that I love but I ultimately chose the Chicken Korma. It was very good so I am glad I made that decision. The meal was filling and delicious. I was pleased. Although there were several staff members present, only one young lady was serving guests. She was friendly, hospitable and efficient. I had no issues with my service during my visit. As a result of my experience, I would definitely return and recommend this restaurant to others. Rasoi is just about the only Indian restaurant left in tampa that still serves a lunch special! And boy is it good, it includes an app, basmati AND naan, as well as lentil Daal soup (DELICIOUS!) and of course a dessert in addition to the main dish. Pretty much every other Indian restaurant (and also many non-Indian restaurants) have completely removed their lunch menus/lunch specials since they lost so much money through covid. I appreciate that Rasoi still offers one. Their selection is also amazing, they have a large variety of vegetarian and meat specials. I of course had to go with the butter chicken which really exceeded my expectations. The service there was great, the guy didn't let my water go empty and was on top of everything. Indian in Ybor? Awesome! This restaurant fills the void left by an elsewhere popular pizza chain. At first I was sad to see the pizza place go, and felt the space was very fitting for that venture, but then I learned what a great fit Rasoi is for the space! I love sitting outside on the cute patio with my loved ones (furry dogter included). This review is based off my experiences for lunch and their offerings. I have been to Rasoi several times for lunch (as a new mom I do not make it out at night anymore). We have always encountered a fresh lunch buffet as in the components were cooked that morning (yes, I can tell). There was also a medley of sauces and fruit available at the buffet as well. Additionally, other items selected from the menu were made to order. In our experience service has been great and the restaurant is clean. We enjoy the atmosphere at Rasoi and the service we receive. The food is very flavorful and I have never tasted anything I didn't like. While the food may not be served "Indian hot" spice level, several of the dishes are hot in their own right. I am a huge fan of their vegetarian offerings, specifically the lentils and malai kofta!! We will continue to patronize Rasoi. If you haven't been, you should check it out! read more
