I had a few items since I love to sample. The korma sauce was different that what I'm used to but was very tasty. The saag was flavorful as usual and the chicken chili was delicious. The only disappointment was the naan. I asked for it to be crispy and they failed on that one. Although it had nice flavor, it was a bit doughy for me. All in all I definitely recommend this restaurant when you need your Indian food fix!

They later had a location inside the University Mall food court from 2022-2025. In that location, they added middle eastern food in addition to Indian. I didn't know that they opened this new location. I'm unsure if the mall location is fully closed down. I was browsing Google Maps and saw this one and decided to try it out. In the 2010s, it was my favorite place in North Tampa/USF. They had good flavorful good at moderate prices. When we first moved to Tampa in the 90s, we patronized Taj well into the 2000s. Jai Ho stole the crown and I brought my relatives and friends occasionally. The new location is inside the Oasis Bay Suite hotel. You go into the lobby and walk out and to the left passing the gym. The interior is orange and brown ,divided into halves. I arrived at 620 pm and there were only 2 older gentlemen dining. I ordered a Coke and Chicken Biryani. Pros: Solid service. Clean restaurant. Good prices. The biryani was $14 (It was $13 last time I ate there more than 5 years ago) Cons No physical menu. I was given a sheet with QR code. When asked for my order, they didn't ask the spice level which they used to in the first location. The biryani took about 10 minutes to arrive. It looked fine. However,there was a lack of chicken pieces. I feel like there was 20 percent less boneless chicken than usual. It came with raita ,but it wasn't really spicy. They used to be above average in terms of spice. The biggest problem was that a lot of the rice just tasted of ghee and no masala/spices at all. There were very few cooked onions and cilantro. It wasn't bad,but it lost a lot of the fire the old version had. Truth be told, I've lost interest in Indian food in recent years,but I still want to occasionally get a good tandoori chicken or biryani occasionally. I ended up ordering the Tandoori Chicken Bowl and the particular weekend I ordered it came with a small Butter Chicken Pie as well. The pie was a perfect small portion size for one person and was great. The crust was very flaky and a good ratio to the filling. The highlight of my experience, though, was the Tandoori Chicken Bowl. The combo of the well cooked/seasoned chicken to the rice and tomato/cucumber salad was great. The dressing, served on the side, was a great touch as well. Can't wait to see what the new menu will bring!
