Really wanted to like this place... We were excited to try here for the first time as part of a Yelp Elite event...but after driving an hour and a half to get here, discovered that the date had been changed. Staff seemed totally unaware of anything and didn't know what Yelp was. We were joined by several other Yelpers who decided to stay and dine with us anyway. Bottom line: should have gone across the street to alternative venue. Note: We were not looking for a 'free meal' as that is not how things work. We were anticipating the camaraderie and social interaction these events provide, and that does not factor into this review. We were, however, disappointed that the staff had no knowledge and were confused, and even after we said we would stay they did not welcome us or seat us but just walked away talking among themselves. Service was Okay, after we seated ourselves. We were never really made to feel welcomed. Service was prompt, but as there weren't more than a handful present, not too surprising either. I started off with the Gobi Manchurian, cauliflower battered and served in a rich sauce. Followed up with their recommended lamb chops. Spice levels were good (I did asl for higher heat level, and that part was fine. However the salt level was almost absurd. Wound up consuming 5 glasses of water...not sure if it was added MSG or just heavy hand, but wound up leaving me feeling meal was...adequate. Wife had Papas for starter (she has a weakness for them), and the accompanying mint sauce was very nice. Her Tandoori Shrimp suffered from the same excess of salt, even though it was much less spicy. Finally, I think it was pricier than necessary. Two people, no cocktails, and after tip & tax was over $100. Have to say it's not worth the drive, and there are many other ethnic opinions in the immediate neighborhood with better flavor for a more reasonable price. read more

It's been a year or so and the food is like I remember it, so is the price point unfortunately. We ordered 3 dishes to go lamb korma, lamb curry, and chicken tikka masala and it was a grand total of $80 big ones. That was when I remembered why I stopped coming here. When you walk in the place is very impressive with nice modern decor. I couldn't wait to try thier dishes. Now I am a creature of habit and when I eat at an Indain restaurant. I normally order "Chicken Tekka Masala, Saag Paneer and Garlic Naan Bread. The service was perfect, so no issues on that. When the dishes came out they looked, so good. But my "Chicken Tekka Masala " was to creamy as well as the "SaagPaneer" It lost most of its flavor. It's good, but too much cream. Most places add a lot of salt to extend shelf life or cream to either thicken sauce or to feed the mass. It was good, but too much cream. Now for the "Garlic Naan Bread" was perfect! Rasoi has a nice vibe right when you walk through the door. We came right when they re opened for dinner so we had the place to ourselves. For appetizer, we had chicken samosas that came with two sauces a green one and red sauce. Both complimented the samosas well. For my entree I got Chicken Saag and Patel Naan. Patel Naan is the owners special that comes with cheeses, garlic, onion and spices. A must try!! It was delicious! We will definitely be back to try out their lunch buffet. Yum! read more

Absolutely wonderful experience I had here! I was referring someone here until I realized I had not submitted my review for this wonderful place. The owners are wonderful people with a true vision for what they have to offer. While I have a peanut allergy, there was plenty of food to enjoy. Everything was served buffet style for us. The squad was energetic Abe made the energy in the room just as good as the food. Music was set at a good volume, not noisy at all. Authentic is the key word! I went here for an event that didn't happen, but I ordered some Makhani curry (butter chicken) with chicken as takeout. The staff answered my questions. The food was ready when quoted. They have a good amount of seating throughout the restaurant. They even have a buffet during lunch hours. The butter chicken had good flavor. I do wish they offered coconut cream, but it was still good. They didn't give as much rice; you probably get more when you dine in. read more

We stopped by here for the lunch buffet and it was pretty good. They have a rotating menu of dishes that are offered during their lunch buffet and it is $15. The only downside is that they stop serving their lunch buffet at 2:15 even though they close at 2:30 - we didn't know that and ended up getting plate after plate for 15 minutes when we arrived at 2pm. read more

Trying this place for the first time. It is small but cozy, welcoming and elegant. Definitely like it as you come in. The service was prompt and friendly, helping us navigate though the menu and making decisions specially when everything sounds delicious. Decided on chicken samosas, chicken vindaloo curry at "Indian" level of spicy, garlic cheese naan and mango lassi. The samosas came out quickly and they were accompanied by two side sauces, one tingly and the other sweet. Both were great and the samosas were delicious as well, even without the sauces. Mango lassi was rich, sweet and delicious. My main meal came in (chicken vindaloo-Indian spicy) rice and naan. It was DELICIOUS. I recently had lunch at Rasoi IV Authentic located in shops near Sam's Club, just off Battlefield Boulevard in the heart of Chesapeake. I'm so glad that the buffet is open again. Food was typically Indian but a lot of choices. Sadly we thought we were meeting other Yelpers tonight for an elite event but didn't realize it was moved to the 29th. We drove quite a long way to get here so we decided to eat here. We were not the only Yelpers to make this error as yet another one sat next to us. Other than us, the restaurant was empty. Good amount of "to go" food though. We started off with Roasted Papad for me and Golby Manchurian for Hubby. Crispy pappadums of which there were two and overly sauced cauliflower for him. I had one of his and had to gulp down water. Followed by Tandoori Shrimp which I chose a level medium spice on a scale of mild, medium, spicy or Indian spicy. I did hesitate as I don't like it spicy lately but was talked into medium by hubby. He ordered Indian spicy and beyond for his Rasoi Lamb chops because he loves hot food. Well I got spicy and my nose kept running so I didn't enjoy my meal. Hubby liked his lamb chops but clearly there was too much salt. With tax and tip the meal cost 100. Unsure how this restaurant has such high reviews. We frequent Indian restaurants and this was one of the worst. We got the lasuni gobi and it was caked in thick sauce. The garlic naan was dry and more like a cracker. The chicken tikka masala was some of the worst I've had. First time at Rasoi, and it was a good experience. We realized we missed the lunch buffet, but still wanted to check out the food. Lunch buffet is only on Sundays from 11:30am-2:30pm and is around $19+ It's very clean inside and our server Josh was very attentive and kind. Our waters were never empty and he communicated effectively, asking whether we wanted both our dishes out at the same time or if it was okay to bring them out as they were done. We ordered Behl Puri and it was sooo good! I like theirs a lot better than one of their competitors in Norfolk. It had a lot of crunch mixed with soft textures, a burst of cool with spice and cilantro to boost the flavors even more. Just all around yummy! It's the closest I've tasted to what I thought was a behl Puri I thought I had in Asheville. But then I realized it wasn't a behl Puri I ordered in an Indian restaurant in Asheville, but a Sev potato Dahi Puri. I highly recommend their behl Puri though! I was pleasantly pleased. I decided to go a different route and try other dishes than my typical choice of biryani, and butter chicken and went with the rogan Josh with chicken. I ordered it mild, but warning, the mild was still on the spicy side but still flavorful and enjoyable to me. My sister ordered the chicken makhani, also known as butter chicken. She really enjoyed hers as well. She let me try some and it was definitely delicious, and you can definitely taste the butter in theirs. I was curious about the Thums up soda. So I gave it a try. It definitely has a different flavor profile. It almost tastes similar to coca-cola, but without the after burn taste in the throat and without the surge of extra sugar taste (although it does state it has 30grams of sugar). It kind of tastes like cinnamon, if not something similar tasting. I couldn't pinpoint it. I don't think thums up is for me. The prices are on the higher side, but the taste quality evens out. I ate a quarter to half the Behl Puri and a little less than half my Rogan Josh and I was full. The rest I took home. One of the other customers as they were leaving told me I need to try their Korma. Their Patel Naan looks really good too, so I will have to try that as well, and their lunch buffet the next time! read more

Mixed feeling on how to write this review, but I am just going to base it on our experience. We came Sunday for their lunch buffet, which is $19 per person and available only on Sundays. Lots of parking since it's in a strip mall and there wasn't any wait. It was actually quite empty, which surprised me. When we walked inside, we were impressed by two things; the delicious smell and the clean, aesthetic atmosphere. We were sat immediately and the rest was on us, since there is very little service provided during the buffet. Especially since we just got waters. The buffet had a decent number of options, however it didn't feel like a great variation. Chicken was the only protein available and the chicken that they used was definitely not what I expected. It was diced, overcooked chicken breast. It barely even soaked up the beautiful sauces that it was in. The only dish that wasn't like this was the curry chicken, which was prepared with what seemed like thighs. No other proteins to speak on, which was sad. I guess I understand since it is a buffet, but I would rather pay a few more bucks for the experience and get higher quality items off the menu. Overall, our meal was yummy, but it didn't hit my Indian food craving to the fullest. We were hoping that coming for the Sunday buffet would give us an idea of how the rest of their menu was, but I don't think that was the case. read more

I had some reservations trying a new Indian Cuisine place but it definitely have no regrets. The ambiance was really nice. They have a great atmosphere that lends itself to conversation. The menu was very thorough and the typically array of what you'd expect from Indian Cuisine was there. I ordered the Tandori and it was pretty decent. This is on me - but the menu did say bone-in. I should've taken that for all context but I wasn't a big fan of them cutting the meat with the bone as it caused some of the food to have small bone cuts within the food. Again, my fault, not the restaurant. As for the rest of the food, I can say that for those who can't do ANY heat, you may want to reconsider as most of the food here has a marginal heat. It doesn't bother me but for my family, I have two that are exceptionally sensitive to heat. This is the first time we've had any issues with it. Overall, very solid place. We came here because I wanted to try chicken tikka masala! It was excellent! I had it mild with the garlic cheese naan which was also very good! The ambiance is very nice as well. My only complaint is the staff did not know how to make any mixed drinks. You could only order very basic, single mixes. The staff was very nice and the service was nice and quick! Went here for the lunch buffet on a Saturday w friends. Been really wanting an Indian buffet since other local options stopped during covid . It was fairly slow during the time we were there. The buffet was so so. Most of the food tasted ok with the exception being the Korma which was great. The naan was ok, but no raita on the buffet seemed weird. I ended up spending $45 on two lunch buffets (including a child of 5) and a very bad glass of "sweet tea" for my son. Tip was included as we were a party of 6. waiter was nice enough. The food is really good and flavorful. The ambiance is clean with nice decor but Oh my goodness.... IT IS COLD in there!! Bring a coat! My go to at any Indian cuisine is Butter chicken - chicken makhani is my favorite here. You can go mild to spicy. The only thing is the portions are small for the price. The #78- almond paste chicken is sautéd and comes out sizzling. It's one of the manager's recommendation but it wouldn't be mine LOL. It was under seasoned and the paste on the chicken didn't give it a good texture for me. All the rice dishes were good, the butter naan is best when you dip it in the sauce of your dish!
