I saw Dr. Malik because of gum overgrowth caused by a heart medication I take. He told me I would…read moreneed to change this. This is a big "ask" because I am sensitive and have side effects with many meds. I saw my cardiologist and changed medication, went through that adjustment period, and returned to him with the name of the new medication which he approved. Because of this I went forward with a laser treatment to remove the gum overgrowth. I paid several thousand out of pocket on top of insurance. The overgrowth returned a year later and my dentist sent me back for a follow up. Dr. Malik's response upon re-examining me was "Well of course it came back you are on a medication that causes gum overgrowth." When I informed him that I had changed it and he approved the change, he was confused at first, looked through my chart, and told me my current medication causes the same thing. While I know gum overgrowth can return, had I known the new medication had a risk of causing the this as well I wouldn't have paid several thousand to do the laser treatment. And I wouldn't gone through the extra cardiologist visit or the adjustment period in changing heart meds. I've thought about small claims court because it just sucked. Not an apology for the miscommunication. Nothing.Can you say medical gaslighting?

And this is what brought me to Dr. Pechter's office. The office is located about 5 minutes away from my house, which is great! Inside the office looks very nice and neat. The ladies at the front desk who checked me in were friendly and helpful. When I got to see Dr. Pechter, he asked me the history of my teeth but did not judge me as the other dentists do. He carefully examined my situation and suggested different treatment options. I needed to take care of a few issues but I can't afford to do them at the same time. I had a root canal and a crown done here at roughly 1/10 the price at a regular dentist. The work was perfect. If anything the dentists are far more careful here than the private practice dentists I've seen. The only real hassle is joining their program, as there's a waiting list. After screening and initial evaluation, they're very thorough and very clear in recommendations. The staffers including front desk check-in are invariably friendly and efficient. It takes a bit longer since the dental students get everything checked over by the instructors. My impression was that the dental students just starting do the less complex tasks and the ones about to graduate get the more complex tasks

Her appointment has been cancelled and rescheduled 4 times with no explanation, even after she had gotten all of her pre-op requirements done. Our appointment coordinator has called multiple phone numbers to find out why this surgery has been cancelled so many times without explanation, and she has been unable to reach anyone! Communication from this facility is non-existant. Think we will be sending our residents somewhere else for their dental care!
