A long weekend is the perfect opportunity to explore new wineries in the area, and yesterday I discovered Raul Ramirez Winery by searching the web for new wineries in the Temecula Valley and this winery opened recently. By the amount of patrons present when I arrived you wouldn't think it is new. A quaint, off the beaten path, winery that resembles a prefabricated modern house surrounded by farm land, and found at the end of a cobbled stone road. The interior is a conflict of rustic and modern decor with various styles and colors, yet stunning and unique. The tasting room resembles a living room, and offers an outdoor seating experience with occasional entertainment. The wine was of great quality, and reflected the care and craftsmanship of a knowledgeable winemaker. The whites were refreshing, and the reds were bold! In addition, the stemware was very classy, with specific glasses for Pinot, Chardonnay, Cabs, and sparkling wines. The atmosphere was classy, and the "Adults Only" rule compliments the vibe. I recently visited this smaller boutique winery with a large womens wine group. Raul Ramirez sits on a hilltop with beautiful views and gorgeous, light-filled indoor tasting spaces. I loved the modern rustic ambiance of their intimate clubhouse, and the weather was perfect for enjoying our wine both indoors and out on the patio. Maryanne and Kim guided us through our tastings of Spanish style wines, sharing the story behind the winery and details about the estate's famous Andalusian horses. If you do a property tour, you'll see the horses and they do have special events. Tastings are by reservation only and no children or pets are allowed. Your choice of 6 tastes are $32. I especially enjoyed the 2016 Estate Gran Reserva Brut "Cava style" sparkling and the 2015 Don Porfirio Gran Reserva. The Winchester location is a bit far outside Temecula wine country. We had a pleasant time here - I was glad to finally check out this winery and it was fun visiting with a group. But given the distance from most Temecula wineries and the fact that reservations are a must, I probably won't be visiting here on a regular basis. read more

First time visiting Raul Ramirez Winery and we absolutely loved it! Jessica was amazing very attentive, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The ambience is relaxed and peaceful, much less crowded than other wineries, which made it easy to truly enjoy the wine and the views. We liked it so much that we became members on our first visit. Our only recommendation: please consider selling chocolate it would pair perfectly with the wine. We'll definitely be back! We will highly recommend this place to our friends and family. read more

I came here for the live music event. Diego Mondragon is a talented violinist playing the best classics. This is one of my husband's favorite wineries. I'm not that big on red wine but my husband really enjoys the reds from here. Today I tried the 2023 Estate Mezcla Blanca. It is a perfect sweet blend of vibrant strawberry, raspberry, and a touch of watermelon. It's a lovely girly drink if you want to bring your date here. The service here has always been top notch. They're always filling up your glass and making sure you're happy. When they have time they do offer tours of the Estate where you can see the award winning horses. Had this place on our list to visit. We had reservations but were places in a side room away from where most were seated. At first we liked that, but then when it showed in service that they almost tended to forget about us, we walked away underwhelmed by the experience. The wine was just ok for the area. The wines are amazing as is the ambience and the customer service. The setting is a beautiful place to enjoy a glass of wine on a weekend afternoon or evening. Love the Saturday afternoon music and the staff is very nice and professional. My only caveat is the wine club membership: You must read the fine print because there is an early termination fee if you cancel before the required one year or six shipments. I wish it would have been explained to us at the time we bought it, shame on us for not reading the fine print at the time. However overall it's worth the visit to sample an amazing array of wines. read more

We went on a small winery tour today and ended the tour at Raúl Ramírez winery. What a beautiful, gorgeous place to taste wine. Eli served us and was extremely knowledgeable and had a great personality. We arrived too late to spend as much time as we'd have liked but will definitely be back. The wines we tasted were superb. What a wonderful surprise. I had heard good things about RR and decided to try for ourselves and brought two friends with Spanish heritage. The tasting experience, the service (Maryanne was excellent) and the wine met and/or exceeded expectations. We prefer this type of experience over the large or medium wineries that are crowded and offer less intimate experience. The wines stood out to us as very high in quality especially the Don Porforio No 2. We are seriously thinking about moving one of our memberships to RR. It's out on the edge but well worth the extra drive. I think reservations are required so don't forget that step. Cheers. read more

We decided to come to this home feel winery to give it a try. We showed up near closing without knowing. No one approached us or greeted us upon entry. One of the nice workers later approached us and told us to make a reservation because they Perfer reservations ( which is weird because they are a small winery). One of the lady's working never lifted her head from the iPad to even speak to us. Weird feel and I just didn't feel welcomed. We love this winery. Located on a hill with a fantastic view. The reds and roses were our favorite. They have several Andalusian horses on site. Beautiful horses and it was special when the brought them out . We were members for one year. The obligation when you join is to be a member for a one year minimum and purchase one bottle of wine per month. That cost was about $50. You also got four tastings or glasses of wine a month. The experience is very unique and you feel pampered during your visit. When we first joined Joacho was the server. Then about three months later Ernie joined the team. Ernie was and still is a breath of fresh air. We liked them both. There's also special events every month or so. The wine club changed on July 1,2022. The new obligation three bottles every two months for the lowest level club. We decided it was time to move on....we wish them luck and continued growth. read more

My wife and I are wine club members at Raul Ramirez. For years. The wine is 5 stars. I need to start this review saying that the wine is amazing. They are legitimately a top two or three winery in Temecula and it is without question. This review is about the service, the tasting room, and the overall treatment we received on our most recent visit and honestly the overall treatment we have experienced there recently. Again, I have to say that we are members. For this tasting we had a reservation. We walked in for our reservation and to pick up our wine and to be honest, I'm not sure we have ever been treated worse, ANYWHERE. The woman who checked us in and served us was curt, abrupt, disinterested, rude, and from the get-go greeted us as though we were our own 21 year old daughter on a bachelorette party girl bus from Wilson Creek. When she poured our first glasses for the tasting, she honest-to-goodness poured the wine, walked away, and never told us a single thing. No intro to the wine, not even the varietal. Nothing about what we were drinking, tasting notes, NOTHING. When we asked what we were drinking the response was, "You're doing a tasting. You start at the top of the list and go to the bottom...you can read it right? I figured members knew how a tasting work." This is her ACTUAL quote. We were not rude, we were personable, we walked in, said we were members here for a tasting reservation, we were seated and treated in this manner. The reason we joined this wine club was obviously 1) the wine, and 2) we weren't treated like so many other places else in the valley. The experience in the tasting room was comfortable, homey, relaxing, personalized and personable. Small and quaint, but artful and with big beautiful wines. Unfortunately I guess it's become like so many other places...although to be honest the random dude at Wilson Creek shilling out $15 bubbly was kinder and told us more about his lemon pledge flavored bubbly than our mean girl at Raul...The Raul Ramirez experience has absolutely changed. As we expected, the wine was beautiful, but the tasting was so sour it was impossible to enjoy and I remember nothing of any of the bottles and I haven't looked at the 6 we took home to even know what we have. I don't know if we'll stay members. It was appalling. GBV and Palumbo have never treated us that way, even before we were members there as well. Over the last decade we watched our small and quaint little Europa membership grow into the monstrosity they now represent....and still no one has ever treated us this way. We went to their wine pick up party. We are not members, but our friends are. We paid $25 each. Got one glass of wine and three tastes. Everything else cost, the food, we bought another bottle of wine and the cigar guy was very pricey. We were a little disappointed because when we came the first time, the guy made it sound like the $25 actually included something. But it really didn't. And, you will not be disappointed with their list of wines to choose from. Reservations are required. Once you arrive you are welcomed in to a table that has been set up for your party. Then either Juaco or Ernie will bring the pours to you. Wine club membership includes four tastings or four glasses of wine a month. I usually choose the tastings, because I like revisiting the variety of wines they offer. If you like, bring your own snacks to enjoy with your tasting. The Spanish themed ambience of their tasting room is enhanced with their touches of elegant ranch style decor and the streaming of flamenco music. Their special events follow the Spanish theme, like the delicious paella dinner we enjoyed at one event, prepared on site with pours of wine that seemed never ending! The extra special treat is their beautiful Andalusian horses that they bring out as the highlight of many of their events. Their grapes are sourced from acres of vines located in Temecula Valley. We were on our way out of Temecula when someone told us about this place, about 5 miles past Doffo Winery. We had to check it out. First impression was great. You feel like you are wine tasting in someones living room. Our server was awesome. Really informative and very personable. This winery specializes in Spanish varietals. What an amazing experience! This winery is a must visit in the Temecula Valley! Juaco greeted us at the door and we became fast friends! Juaco knows his wines and Raul Ramirez Winery does not disappoint!! We began with the sparkling 2015 Estate Brut Gran Reserva "CAVA style" which was light and a perfect start! We mentioned that we have been to other regions including Villa de Guadalupe and Juaco immediately took this as a challenge to find something that fit our pallet! He knew exactly what we would like and did not disappoint! Each wine we tasted became better and better and I just wanted the take all of them home. We loved the 2008 Don Porfirio named after Raul's grandfather. We loved all the wines, the stories behind them and Juaco for his perfect execution of wine selection! Highly disappointed going to a winery named Raul Ramirez and being served Italian buffet food that was obviously ordered out and wasn't even as good as Olive Garden and not a fan of Olive Garden. The wine was amazing. It's all Spanish wine that was so delicious. The pours were very big and our server was attentive.

$115.00 for a paella plate dinner, 1 glass of wine... It was 1glass of wine which was fine but when it came to the paella it was tasty but literally it was a very small plate with a little bit of salad.. to me not worth it. We drove from LA to Temecula (2 hour drive) expecting this wonderful meal.. what a disappointment. When they served all the guest there's was left over which we asked if we can go back for more because we were served so little and they said no. Then they served their employees these hugs plates. Listen I paid $230 for me and my husband and didn't get any where near the same serving as their staff. What a joke!!! The place was nice. They had a so called horse show. which was like a 10 min, you watch these horses do a little performance while you stand there. We were a group of 9 and we all felt the same way.. we were ripped off. Lora is so sweet and personable! She gives great service. The port here and sherry is the best I've had so far! They're spot on. The view is fantastic especially at sunset time. I visited on 6/28 This was my second visit to Raul Ramirez. My first visit a few months ago I became a member. I am very selective when choosing membership and usually have to visit several times before committing but not in this case. If you like reds then this is your place. I love Tempranillo and this winery did not disappoint. It's a beautiful tasting room very spacious and comfortable. I believe it was a home before being a tasting room and they kept the home vibe to it which makes it feel more welcoming. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Maryann was so helpful and attentive. I love coming here because it's a little out of the way of all the other wineries which makes me appreciate my visits more. They don't serve food but made it clear we can bring our own which is great. They have a great view if you feel like sitting outside it was too hot this visit but for sure on my next read more

Coming from Chapin winery which is awesome and I am a member, thought we would stop at this new winery off the beaten path, barely made it in the door before someone possibly the owner came running at us, asking us if we had a reservation and then saw me outside with my dog and said your dog is not allowed anywhere on our propertyso if you love dogs, I would discount this place and the wine may not be much better but we would know because we weren't allowed to even try it read more
