She walked me through everything she was doing, gave helpful feedback on my at-home care, and even demonstrated proper flossing technique using a model, which I really appreciated. It didn't feel rushed or impersonal at all. What I liked most is that there was absolutely no pressure. They clearly explained everything, showed me pictures, and were very respectful of my pace. When discussing future work, they said we could go over it at my next visit so I wouldn't feel overwhelmed--that meant a lot. Overall, the team is professional, kind, and genuinely caring. I was in some pain (5 out of 10) They said they could perform the work right away and sent in an attractive young lady who told me my portion would be $1415.10. I was thinking "I thought I had excellent insurance thru Delta, but maybe I was wrong" She kept pushing "pay the amount and you will be all set, your pain will be gone and the work will be complete" I felt like I was at a used car dealership, I'm in sales and recognized the sales techniques. Against my better judgement I had the work performed. The assistant Michael was very polite and caring, the dentist was nice, it was a tough extraction but she did it successfully. The next day, after the fog wore off I checked with Delta Dental Insurance and discovered MY INSURANCE WOULD COVER 80-90% OF THIS SERVICE.!!!! Also, the Delta Rep told me the maximum reasonable and customary allowance was around $770.00. THEY CHARGED ME DOUBLE.!!!! (They did give me a small discount $141.00) which I appreciated. How can a business do this to a customer???? How can they sleep at night treating people this way????? My primary dentist I go to in Riverview is SO awesome and ethical. She charges the required amount and does not over-sell you on anything. Maybe I got spoiled. Please beware. I not necessarily recommending you avoid this office, just be knowledgeable on your rights and what your insurance covers. Don't become a victim. They don't try to recommend a fake "deep clean" like the chains. They'll tell you if a cavity is minor and you can watch and wait for it to heal or whether it should get repaired. They are fast, friendly, efficient, and honest. They also play funny pet videos to distract you from the typical unpleasantness of the dentist. They offer early and late hours and Saturday hours. One time a family member got x-rays from a different dentist who said they needed a ton of fillings. We came here for the second opinion and they clarified only one was needed and they gave us their x-ray for free when insurance wouldn't cover it twice. I will never go anywhere else.

My first impression was that Teri had everything completely under control, and Dr. Arnold seemed like a somewhat nerdy surfer guy who really knew his stuff. There is nothing better than a practitioner who "nerds out" on what he does - you know he's passionate about it. I immediately liked them both. Over the years, I grew alongside the practice. Despite expanding, adding another office, and relocating to Brandon, Dr. Arnold, Teri, and the rest of the staff remained exactly what made them special from the beginning: grounded, professional, caring, and genuinely invested in my dental health. They always worked with me as partners to achieve the best possible outcomes. In many ways, they felt more like friends than healthcare providers. One thing that always impressed me about Dr. Arnold is his honesty. He doesn't sugarcoat anything--you get a straightforward assessment of your condition and the available options. At the same time, he provides thoughtful, well-developed treatment plans and clearly explains each option so you can make informed decisions. His directness is balanced by compassion, empathy, and a complete absence of judgment. Teri and the office staff are absolute experts when it comes to insurance and billing. If there's a way to maximize your benefits and minimize your costs, they'll find it. When I underwent Invisalign treatment to correct an overbite that was largely cosmetic rather than functional, Dr. Arnold and his staff helped me take advantage of discounts and other opportunities that saved me literally thousands of dollars. Another quality I greatly appreciated is Dr. Arnold's attention to detail. He can be a perfectionist--and in cosmetic dentistry, that's a tremendous asset. During my Invisalign treatment, I eventually had to tell him I was satisfied because he wanted to continue correcting tiny imperfections that I barely noticed. Due to service connected injuries, I have have a highly complicated set of bite guards. The VA who had all previous bite guards messed them up ALL the time. Not these guys. Also the front office staff is amazing when dealing with the VA payment and authorization system. That place causes more patient injury then help. But Oakfield Dental deals with them and only involves me when I need to become Karen on the VA. Which is the only way to make the VA pay up or authorize something. But wait there is more...My wife called to question the teeth cleaning bill prior to the crown replacement since we weren't given an itemized receipt for both our cleanings. Of course they have never given us an itemized receipt for anything, let alone a cleaning, but the bill was $400 instead of the dental plan plus the free cleanings that are usually around $100ish for the two of us. My wife and I are very clear telling our dental techs "we don't want anything extra that isn't covered by the plan they sold us." TO their credit they had us sign a sheet acknowledging this, but magically they lost both our sheets when we asked to see where we signed to authorize an extra $300 in cleaning up charges. Our cleaning should have been the dental plan fee for one year for about $100 and maybe a few dollars more... After my wife brought this to the office manager's attention she was very clear, we paid, it's our fault and should've disputed it then. To this date they have still not found our authorization letters. I can again attest I will never give this practice money. After they retired, the same wonderful culture continued with the amazing Iris and Frances, who make every visit smooth and welcoming. One of the things we appreciate most is how accommodating the office is with scheduling. Whether you need to repair a filling or come in for a cleaning, they will gladly put you on a waiting list and call you the moment a cancellation opens up. Their cleaning appointments book at least 6 months in advance, which honestly speaks volumes about how good they are. I highly recommend scheduling early so you can choose a time that works best for you. Dr. Vicente herself is extremely cordial and has incredible bedside manners. She explains everything she is doing step by step while working on your teeth, which makes you feel comfortable and fully informed. The billing is always honest and transparent, which unfortunately is not something you can say about every dental office. In fact, we had to leave the practice for 1 year due to a dental insurance change and go to one of the larger dental chains. That year was disappointing ~ we missed not only Dr. Vicente but also the honesty, transparency, and fair pricing that this office provides. The difference in care was night and day.
