The decor is industrial with the stone, metal and wood, earth tones, very modern and yet feels cozy and warm with the combination of the colors, lighting and art. Great atmosphere for an elegant and elevated experience. We had the side room space which is really great for having a small to medium sized gathering of easily up to 50 people or so. There's ample seating at round tables and also a couple high tables to stand at. A long bar where all the food is served buffet style. There are restrooms just down the hall too so very convenient. There's cool wall art murals which make for a great backdrop and very artsy!! The food was really good too - charcuterie meats, cheese, fruit, meatballs, olives, eggplant caponata, hummus and crackers. Barcelona was okay. It's a fun atmosphere with friends and I recommend coming here as a larger group so you can try out more things from the tapas menu. Food-wise, none of the dishes we got particularly wowed me (the sauces that came with each dish were better than the actual food) but I'd come back to try other things from the very extensive list. We got: 1. Patatas bravas: The best thing we got, though we should have eaten this when it was still hot and crispy. After sitting out for a while, it became a mushy mess with the sauce. 2. Spiced meatballs: Very small size for the meatball and not much spice (like less than a bite) but the sauce was excellent. 3. Jamon croquettes: Not bad but the filling was pretty gluey in texture. Definitely need to eat with the accompanying sauce. I ended up dunking it in the sauce that came with the meatballs. 4. Grilled peaches: Intrigued by this summer offering but I'd say skip. For $7, we got five very small slices of peach in an indistinguishable, vaguely sugary/burnt sauce. If you have a grill and a peach, you can definitely make a much better version of this for far cheaper. 5. Shrimp in garlic sauce: Fell flat. The shrimp were small and extremely overcooked. The only saving grace of this dish was the scallion/garlic oil that we used to dip the extra bread in. Food came out very fast and our waitress came by often to check on us and see if we needed. Lots of parking options nearby (including free 2-hour options one block over) so if you're debating which location of Barcelona to go to, the parking alone could weigh in favor of this one. read more

I'm concerned that being exposed to this level of noise every day could cause permanent hearing damage to the restaurant staff. The restaurant is very popular. The perfect spot for a fun night with any group! Located in Brookline on Beacon Street with lots of street parking. We had a res for a Wednesday night and it was PACKED-- definitely plan ahead! The menu is huge and perfect for any dietary restrictions, super vegetarian friendly. We also had a severe nut/peanut allergy and they were able to accommodate so easily and confidently. For two, we ordered the patatas bravas, the mushrooms a la plancha, the burrata, and a half seafood paella which was probably a little too much for two girls (not that we were complaining!). The Patatas are classic with nice crispy potatoes, the mushrooms were nice and light in a vinegar sauce, and the burrata was with some yummy herbs and seasonings. The burrata was definitely a stand out for me! The paella had the perfect char at the bottom with tons of fresh seafood. We also decided to check out the dessert menu and tried the Olive Oil Cake which was incredibly!! Not too sweet, warm and soft on the inside, with a teeny bit of salt on top for a twist. Definitely a unique dessert and really a perfect end to our meal. Lastly, the service was spot on. Then we were seated and ready to order, we were told that they ran out of complimentary bread, as well as grenadine to make the Shirley temple I originally wanted lol. It was interesting because we saw other tables around us have the bread on their tables... But anyways! Here's what we were able to order w/ two people: -mussels -ham & cheese croquettes -potatas bravas -paella salvaje -beef empanadas EVERYTHING was very good! Surprised to see our mussels came with bread since our server said they ran out of complimentary bread but guessing just different type of bread used. The potatas bravas were my favorite & have continued to be my favorite dish from Barcelona Wine Bar! AND I am usually not even a potato kind of person haha. The half size for paella is more than enough for two people, especially if you're also getting tapas! A great dinner option for any occasion. Who doesn't love tapas small plates and nice views of Beacon Street? Such a fan of their wall to ceiling windows, as well as their outdoor patio out front. My friend lovessss this place so we ended up going here twice during her stay. Here's what we got: Patatas Bravas: potatos served in a semi spicy marinara sauce with melted cheese on top (this came out wicked hot! I burned the roof of my mouth on these hahaha) Meatballs: 6 meatballs served in a dish in marinara sauce (perfect for dipping the bread in when you're done eating the meatballs) Ham and cheese croquetas: These are definitely cheesy alright. A little overpowering but not bad by any means! My friend got the mussels and lovedddd the brothy mustard sauce they came in. She also got the beef empanadas and tuna crudo and loved every bite. Ordering 3 tapas plates each was the perfect amount to fill us up. Also, we highly recommend the red sangria here. It's super affordable here and their menu is always changing. Also very friendly staff work here. Only knock is that even if you have a reservation, be prepared to wait. The first night we waited about 30 extra minutes - granted it was really busy so we sat at the bar and grabbed a drink. The second night we waited about 15 minutes. I've been here a few times over the last couple of years and find myself getting pretty frustrated with my experience almost every time. Regardless of your reservation time, you're almost ALWAYS forced to wait 15-20 minutes in their front area. It's always super congested so you're better off trying to wait at the bar (where seats are hard to come by). Don't get me wrong the atmosphere is still super lively and fun, but I think there's just a few too many people. My experience with the staff has either been awesome or pretty poor in terms of attentiveness. I've had super friendly waiters who check in a lot as well as waiters I feel like I need to track down just to get another drink. The food and drinks are great. I love the patatas bravas, steak carpaccio, and ricotta. I went to try the tuna cruda last night and they were sadly out of it (as well as being out of bread!?!) which was a bummer. Despite the negatives, I do see myself going to dinner with a friend at Barcelona here and there. One can only go so long without enjoying some good ol' patatas bravas. read more

The Ali oil has no garlic, no bite whatsoever. The chorizo migas has barely any chorizo and what it has, I doubt is Spanish, there's no hint of Spanish paprika. Redeeming dishes, the four dates wrapped in bacon and jamon croquetas over a white sauce that was definitely not alioli Gambas al ajillo have no ajillo. Neither the chef nor sous chef are Spanish. My friends and I built a charcuterie board - it was fun to pick from the many options although I wish the serving was a bit bigger. This is really a 3.5 but our server is the reason I've rounded up for the stars. I'd heard so much about Barcelona, so I was finally able to go for my birthday. We have a 9:15 reservation. When we arrived around 9:15, the place was still packed, including with people waiting to be sat. There were also multiple large groups waiting to be seated. One of the first things we noticed was how young some of the crowd was. I thought it would be more of a mature crowd, but there were tons of college age people there. Our server was nice and pretty attentive until he went missing for a while when we were waiting to order more tapas. I appreciate he was self aware and told us what happened and all made adjustments to the bill for his disappearance. We ordered the paella with chicken, sausage and pork at the beginning because it takes about 30 minutes to cook. We started with the carrots and potatoes, which were both pretty good. The gluten free complimentary bread was just bread slices, but at least they had the option. The paella was just okay. I was a bit disappointed and my boyfriend wasn't impressed at all. I had the chicken thigh and bacon wrapped dates, both were really good. My boyfriend had the wagu and meatballs, and he wasn't impressed by either. I also liked that they had wine flights with options. Overall, I would come back for the few tapas I enjoyed, but I don't think this lived up to the hype. If you're going to allow reservations, then you should implement time restrictions like literally every other restaurant does. Even if it goes "against your policy".... maybe change your policy then? Every single negative review has mentioned getting seated at an incredibly ridiculous time AFTER their reservation. Why do you guys feel entitled to waste peoples time? Even after that, one of our orders was completely forgotten and came about 20 minutes after we were done eating. Super disappointing. We had a reservation made and the process of getting our table was super easy, despite a very busy dinner rush!
