    Bridge shot stop!

Ravenna Park is a big park. The ravines are deep and there are a number of different trails you can explore as well as a service road you can walk along. The trails are well labeled and maintained. It is good to remember where you entered the park as some sign posts are marked with arrows for certain streets. This makes it easy when trying to find your way out of the park/back to your car. Parking was street parking, we parked on NE 61st Street across the road from a trail entrance to the park. I could see parking getting hard to find when classes are in session as the park is not too far from the University of Washington, however that was not the case for us today. I visited the park today, the 3rd of June 2020, with my mom for an outdoors adventure. We were impressed with the foot bridges forming part of the trail system as well as the water flow through the ravines. Some of the trails bordered steep drop-offs which is useful to know for those who are afraid of heights and don't want to get too close to the edge. There were a number of runners, walkers, and people with their dog when we visited in the late morning. Fun outdoors park to explore in close to the University of Washington in the Seattle area.

I love this park -- definitely one of my faves in Seattle!! This park is right in the neighborhood of Ravenna and it has a little bit something for everyone - joggers, tennis court, children playground, BBQ place, etc. I often come here for some fun times with friends on the playground throwing freesebee, jogging and BBQ parties. It is connected to the Cowen Park so you can get a good jog from Ravenna park to Cowen park. It is definitely a good setting for family fun times! I would recommend you jog with friends or be aware of your surroundings because a close friend's friend who was jogging alone from Cowen to Ravenna got punched by a guy who stole her iPod. Always be safe!

    Beautiful. Gorgeous. Peaceful. Convenient.

What an awesome place. I went early in the morning and saw almost no one. It really felt like I was out on the Olympic Peninsula, miles from civilization. Truly a gorgeous gem and a great spot for a walk or a jog.

This is my favorite Seattle park. It's the perfect place to take an active dog that wants to climb on things, play in the mud and splash around in the water. The trails are awesome and if one route feels a little crowded, you can always veer off in a different direction. The other dog owners we encountered were super polite and kept their dogs in check (which is not common around here) and it was super appreciated by this dog Mom with a fearful pup. The trees are beautiful and you can easily forget that you're in the middle of a busy city. Highly recommend if you want to take your dog on an adventure but don't like the hectic vibe of a dog park.

Start at Ravenna Park and make your way to Cowen Park or vice versa. Once you're in the woods, you forget that you're in the city. There's an awesome play structure, but not toddler friendly - it does state that the play structure is for kids 5 to 12. BUT there is plenty of green space for the little ones to run around. There is a small wading pool; however, the wading pool is closed due to budget cuts - come on people, increase funding for our maintenance & operation of our Seattle Parks! I'll step off my soap box now...

Watch for needles at play area. Found these on the playground. Another parent found others on the walking trail.

Great park. Unfortunately, myself and other parents found used syringes on playground equipment and walking trail. Hopefully a one off incident but I would watch your kids closely.

    Lovely greenery and creeks.

Beautiful natural haven in the middle of several neighborhoods. In this valley you won't hear any cars but instead will be surrounded by enormous trees, lush ferns and meandering creeks. There are three paths through, and I look forward to exploring them all.

Pausing for a drink near the south end of the 20th Avenue bridge.

It's really cool that there's a lot of chickens and Vanny so you can just go up and play with as well as all the little structures in playground and stuff . I will say one of the most offputting things was while we were looking at the chickens. Some woman next to us was kind of talking about the park, not being open to the public and going on and on about it. I may be thinking too much into it although she was talking to someone else and right next to us, but it did kind of seem like it was directed towards us. I would just recommend checking in public hours as the other hours are for the preschool attendees.

We came during Christmas break so there was no one there. After an hour of play we did see about three other families playing all wearing masks. My toddler loved running around the place. There were chickens to say hi to and a cool red truck he could sit in. The musical instruments were fun for him to bang on as well as jumping on the balls and hill. There is actually a basketball court right next to it so you could actually bring older kids and have a game. Wear rain boots as it can get a bit muddy during the winter months. Highly recommend coming here for great imaginative play.

If you want to see a good view of Seattle, check out the Volunteer Park Water Tower's observation deck in the southeast corner of Volunteer Park right on top of Capitol Hill. There's no elevator so be prepared to climb the 107 stairs to the top and be rewarded with 360-degree view of Seattle! There are bars and fencing at the windows though, which does detract a little from the experience. Between the windows are informational signs about Seattle's history. I'll be back to check out the art museum and the conservatory in the future!

Woodland Park is more than 90 acres and takes up a few blocks in the Green Lake and Phinney Ridge neighborhoods. A lot of outdoor activities to do here. There's baseball fields, a dog park, and trails. Cool history about how it came to be. It's been around for a long time and the neighborhood pretty much grew up around it. This was originally the estate of lumber mill owner Guy C. Phinney. After he died it was bought by the city. In 1902 it was turned into one of the city's parks. Basically the park has two halves. The eastern half has baseball fields, a dog park, horseshoe pits, lawn bowling, a picnic area, a pitch and putt golf course, a skate park, and trails. The western half has the Zoo. In 1925 a memorial was erected for late President Warren G. Harding. Just a couple years earlier he made a speech here to the Boy Scouts. It was one of the last speeches he made before he died. The memorial was later demolished, and the site is where the African Savanna exhibit is today. Of course there's many animals to check out here. The rest of the park also has many birds as well as beavers and coyotes among other species. Getting here by a bus is a good idea. It's got a few that go up Fremont Avenue and the other streets. The most popular thing here is the Zoo but there's plenty of other things to do here like playing baseball, jogging, and whatever.
