Dr lotsoff damaged a structure in my mouth leading to pain and turning a functioning situation into a broken situation. He Picked and pulled at a splint holding my front lower incisors in place untill he popped it off. There was no medical reason to do this. It was inattention incompetence or both. And then he says that it was loose, but it wasn't he had to tug he tugged hard enough to loosen the adjacent teeth. I have been holding off on doing a review for this place. In part because I love the service here and don't want more people showing up. Dr. Lotsof is very pleasant and chatty, which me and The Queen love. Service is top notch and if there is a problem, it is addressed right away. I had some work done on a tooth. Did not notice any issues, but Dr. Lotsof saw something he didn't like and took care of it, no extra cost. I hate dentist offices and try to avoid them at all costs, but Dr. Lotsof is rather nice and not all that painful. I have no pain threshold, so if I can do it, you know he has to be good when it comes to dental procedures. The other members of the staff that do the cleanings are nice, quick and painless. The office is located in the Methodist hospital and there is a parking lot. If you do public transportation, the 22 Clark Street bus can drop you off at Winnimac and you can walk over the two blocks to the hospital. From what I have seen, they seem flexible when it comes to payment. Several times I have heard folks ask if they can split the payment for procedures. I really like my dentist Dr. Lotsof. He is personable, attentive, and doesn't do any upselling. The reason for the 3 stars is the receptionist. I don't know why she's so rude. The receptionist act so miserable at her job and takes it out on the patients. Every single time I've been to the clinic, she was never pleasant, doesn't greet anyone, looks at you like you're such an inconvenience for coming in to your appointment. She's rude on the phone and in person. I gave this clinic 3 chances, and she was the same for all those 3 visits I had. read more

If you have emergency they will not take you in let me tell you this lady who is assistant for the doctor she also makes appointments and she told me over the phone you are not in pain if you can't come when I am telling you umm my work is not flexible like hers also I took a day off to go see them last Monday and they were closed so yeah not friendly place . Dr. Lotsoff is awesome. I needed 2 upper wisdom teeth taken out and I was able to get an appointment quickly. They quoted me the price (which was extremely reasonable compared to a specialist that tried to charge me $300 per teeth) before the surgery and did not try to charge any hidden fees. Dr. Lotsoff is friendly and makes an effort to get to know you, he described what he was planning to do in terms of the extraction, and 20 minutes later, both my upper wisdom were out. I give Dr. Lotsoff's practice 5 stars for the amazingly quick and easy experience and also Millie, the receptionist, was very helpful with dealing with my insurance. I just saw Dr. Lotsof today for the first time. I chose him from my list of providers because I liked his name. The woman at the front desk was very kind and so was his dental assistant. I was amazed at how many xrays his assistant took of my mouth. Dr. Lotsof was super nice and nice to talk to. I really felt like he cared about the health of my teeth and spent a lot of time examaning the xrays and talking to me about things I can do. The only reason he doesn't get 5 stars is because I went in to get a filling replaced and he only cleaned my teeth. I'm sure that's standard, but I really wanted to get this tooth fixed. I'm going back next week for the filling and possible crown fitting for an old root canal. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lotsof. Even if you have great teeth, you'll learn some interesting facts sitting in his chair! read more

I'm new to Chicago and was nervous about finding a dentist that I could trust and who was friendly. I couldn't be more relieved to have found Dr. Lotsof. He's by far one of the most wonderful dentists I've ever experienced. His bed side manner is great and he's very knowledgeable. He also picked up on my moments of anxiousness and was very accommodating and empathetic. His supporting staff can be a little gruff and non-communicative but maybe that's because Dr. Lotsof is so personable in comparison. read more

The building it is in kinda sketchy and finding this place is a little bit difficult, but the actual facility is quite nice. I will say, this office lady is a little bit brusque on the phone, but she is actually nice in person. She could probably work on improving her phone tone a little. The hygienist I had was a little rough; but I told her this and she eased up. Dr. Lotsof is extremely friendly and thorough about explaining everything. He is definitely an odd guy, but a good dentist. This place isn't phenomenal by any means (what dentist is?), but it was in my insurance network, had appointment availability, and did a good job with the cleaning and a filling. Overall, I'd recommend them and will be returning. They really did meet all my needs. Besides, I don't really feel like "shopping around" by having ten other people prod around in my mouth just to find my dental soulmate. read more

I've had a great experience in the two years or so that I've been going to Dr. Lotsoff. I get a nice thorough cleaning from their Dental Hygienist who I really like (but can't remember her name). Dr. Lotsoff is personable and knowledgeable. I haven't had any dental problems so I can't vouch for any big procedures, but I'm pleased. I literally created this Yelp account just because the tone I got from whoever answers the phone was so offputting that I immediately sought out another office. I asked if they were accepting new patients and was met with a pause as if that kind of question at a medical office was unusual or inconsiderate. It was followed by a terse response, and then when she asked what kind of insurance I had, it was with a tone so goshdarn rude that I, for a split second, thought I may in fact have been the cause of some massive tragedy for her and her family and all her pain was funneled into the question "what insurance." I don't need to be coddled but holy hell, I don't let strangers treat me that way, much less someone I'll have to be seeing yearly or more frequently. I made this two stars instead of one because according to the reviews, the rest of this office isn't a bad place. But yowza. My teeth happen to be in pretty good shape, and to his credit he recognized that immediately, rather than trying to push any unnecessary procedures as I have experienced a few times with other dentists. Today I went for a cleaning and the dental hygienist ( Quiana) was awesome! She was careful and gentle with me. I asked her a lot of questions about gum health and got some great recommendations. She made my experience easy, quick and pain free, also she has an wonderful personality. My experience at the Ravenswood Dental group is always great from the moment you walk into the office, you are greeted with a smile from the receptionist Millie who knows your name. I had a Groupon for some other dentist on Belmont. To make a long story short, their expensive recommendations for fillings sounded fishy, so I went to Dr. Lotsof on a referral from a friend. He examined me and told me I was fine, and didn't need the work. He saved me hundreds of dollars (and pain) for unnecessary dental work. He explained everything very clearly and was pleasant to speak to. Also, I asked him his rates for a variety of services, and they were lower than my last 2 dentists, so he might have dropped prices since the last review in 2009. Some of my old dentists could have been advisers for inflicting pain to Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man, but NOT Dr. Lotsoff. Dr. Lotsoff he is the BEST. He will work calmly and patiently until he is satisfied you will not feel anything and then he will begin the procedure. This certainly take much anxiety out of going to the Dentist. Whatever you do, ask for the price before you do anything. Dr, Lotsof considers this to be, "a hospital based practice", and as such the increased prices are justified. Hows $800 sound for a deep cleaning, a LITTLE high? So an hour and a half with a hygienist you pay maybe $25/hr, nice profit margin. read more

The dentist was fine, talked a bit too much. The assistant, I had the same problem as a previous patient. The assistant was extremely rough, caused more pain than necessary, has no compassion for the patient, and even argued with the dentist while doing my filling. Very unprofessional! Some friends of mine have been long time patients of Dr. Lotsof and when I had a dental emergency on a Saturday, he and his team were gracious enough to make room for me immediately--delaying he and his team from going home. They were more than gracious. After identifying the problem, he provided me with the options, gave me a referral for a 2nd opinion to an endodontist, and, treated me for the immediate symptoms. When I subsequently chose the course of treatment, he provided great care at a very reasonable price. Dr Lotsof has been both understanding and helpful. When discrepancies in my insurance came up, he and his office have worked to try to resolve them. The office does good work and has kept me up to date with any information that I've needed. My personal experience a Ravenswood Dental was okay, but I happened to walk in to the office when a woman was complaining about the dental assistant. She described the assistant as super rough and was pushing her and jerking her head around. She said the assistant barely spoke to her and never even said hi. When she was complaining to the receptionist, the receptionist seemed to try and brush it off and change the subject instead of being consoling. The patient finally requested a call from the doctor and then left. I thankfully did not have that same dental assistant. I also thought it was very unprofessional that receptionist complained several times about how tired she was. Not very personable. I did really like Dr. Henry and my dental assistant. Both very nice. I thought the place needed to be cleaned a lil bit. I usually expect pristine conditions of any type of medical office and the office and equipment looked like it needed a good washing. read more

One of their dentists misdiagnosed a tooth absess as an inflamatory nerve problem. he gave me high doses of ibuprofen, charged me $135 for a 20 minute visit and would not return my calls when my pain was getting worse. The one xray he took he apparently misread because the next guy I went to less than 2 months later told me I had a large absess. What a crap dentist. Also his secretary is Mean unhelpful and barely spoke english. read more

Dr Lotsof is very nice and professional. It surprised me that the cost wasn't even that expensive for the job he made. I am a student and had Aetna Vital Savings Plan. I had my tooth broken before, so I went there to fix it (I broke it when I was young, and I only requested to refill it). It costed me 158$. I think you are the worse dentist! My appointment was at 9:30 a.m. on 5/19/11. At 10:00 a.m., {I} had to approach the receptionist to figure out why was there such a great delay. She didnt respond in a freindly manner, nor did she apologize. So, I eventually was called into the room @ 10:25 a.m. So, I waited for another ten minutes and I still hadnt been seen. As a result of the unprofessional and inconsideration, I eventually left @ 10:37 a.m. This is completely unacceptable, nor will I ever come back, but I will also spread the word about my experience. read more
