We stopped in here for dinner to celebrate our friends birthday. No wait to be seated and I get like we were treated like royalty. Sushi, wine and hibachi and a special birthday dessert treat. Service and food were amazing! I will for sure visit again.

My party of 6 had a great experience at Raw. Our server was really attentive. We ordered drinks, an edamame app, sushi and entrees. Everything tasted great! It was really special that they brought us out a desert for our friends birthday!

We are driving from Detroit to New Orleans to move our daughter int o college and were looking for a nice spot to stop for dinner. I never would have expected to find a special sushi place like this in the middle of Kentucky??!! Most creative and tasty sushi I've had in a very long time!!! The flavor combinations of the different rolls cannot be found anywhere else. My husband and daughter loved the miso soup and gyoza app and I thought the "berry cado" was amazing! That's lightly fried avocado wedges topped with crab and with the most complementary berry sauce. It's hard to explain but just order it! Our three specialty rolls were the Flamingo, the BeBe and the Midnight Train. Impossible to describe here so read the menu but you can't go wrong no matter what you try. I wish we lived closer because there is so much left on the menu for me! I also ordered a house red wine and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. (And it was only $6!) For the three of us: three apps, three rolls, wine and a coke=$75 plus tip. Well worth it. We will stop here each time Very friendly service too

I have gone to Raw Shushi Bare and Grill for the last time. I rarely go there anyway, even though they are about 5 minutes from my home, because there are at least three other sushi places that are less expensive and have larger and better quality rolls within 20 minutes (well worth the drive). The last straw was yesterday when I went there because there was a traffic jam that prevented me from going to the better places. I ordered seven rolls for my family, one of which was a yellow tail roll for myself. I was talking and not really looking at the sushi closely, and when I put the first piece of yellow tail in my mouth I knew instantly that it was bad. There was a terrible flavor, odor, and it was incredibly slimy. Fortunately, I was able to spit it out and rinse my mouth out before I swallowed any of it. I took a closer look and saw that there were no real pieces of yellow tail in the roll, just decomposing slime (see photos). My family and I probably eat sushi at least once a week, so I know what fresh fish tastes like as compared to spoiled. This is the first time I can ever remember having to spit out a piece of sushi, and I will never let that happen again. I am all about supporting local/small businesses, but I can't imagine how sick I would be had I actually eaten that roll. Never again Raw Sushi Bar and Grill.

I am super jealous that LaGrange has such an amazing sushi bar and Frankfort does not. (This places blows Ginza out of the water) I am super impressed with how hot and fresh my udon was. It is made fresh to order and is really tasty. The tempura veggies that come with it have the perfect amount of crunch. The rolls are pretty impressive. The maui waui roll with the blue. Really pretty. I am looking forward to my next business meeting that takes me to LaGrange.

Just stopped by and they are closed! There is a for lease sign in the window. So disappointing, this place was so yummy. RIP.

Delightfully fresh ingredients, innovative rolls, personal service, all to a boomer rock soundtrack -- we had found our sushi dream for Oldham County fulfilled! The Covid period took a lot of good restaurants down but we kept hoping Rikishi would stay afloat. It did, but with supply chain issues and lack of staff. Which I think brought about the subpar Rikishi that we initially fell in love with. The location of Rikishi has not changed but so much has that we hardly recognize it any more! Very little of Rikishi's table service is personal anymore. You are seated and asked to fill out an order form for your drinks, appetizers, and dinner. No one showed up to personally take an order but to pick up your form. We were pointed to the form a couple of times before we ever got someone to just bring drinks. The old Rikishi was not at all like this! Tonight, we ordered two reliable staples -- miso soup and squid salad. The best parts of dinner were then over as the rolls we ordered did not satisfy as usual. The spicy tuna roll tasted like a watered down version of their usual -- not fresh, not full flavored, something was just off. Watered down is the best we could guess. We were asked to scan a QR code to pay for dinner. At that point, in my mind, we had taken our own orders, received subpar sushi, and then proceeded to process our own check. We always tip graciously but, this time, we asked ourselves what we were tipping for -- service? Again, I hated to write this review. My only hope is that the owners care enough (and have the resources) to go back to their original formula of great service, fantastic sushi, and that wonderfully fun classic/yacht rock soundtrack. Rikishi was our favorite; hope it will be again someday!

The second was completely off--overripe, heavy blackberry notes, clearly oxidized and not the same quality wine. This is what happens when a bottle has been open too long. When I pointed it out, instead of addressing it professionally, the server repeatedly insisted it was from the same bottle and argued with me. That's not just poor service--that's dismissive and borderline insulting. I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I explicitly said I would pay for the glass and not drink it--which I did. I left the full glass on the table. At that point, the appropriate response would have been to move on. Instead, the argument continued. For context, I spent 22 years in the wine and spirits industry. I know the difference--but frankly, anyone could have smelled and tasted how off that wine was. I still paid and tipped 20%, but the issue isn't the charge--it's the way this was handled. Arguing with a customer instead of listening is unacceptable. Do better.

The receptionist (manager) was patient and extremely kind. She even offered me a drink while I waited for the food to be prepared. And the interior decor makes for a relaxing environment. I went with steamed shrimp shumai, vegetable udon soup and yakisoba beef. One thing is for sure, food is served piping hot and remained hot for my ride home. Star Sushi has a unique approach to their food. The shrimp shumai, steamed, were small-almost the size of a Rolo cup. Very mild in flavor, "saved" by a sweet sauce. I'd probably order the appetizer fried next time. The udon soup had a tasty broth, but the udon noodles were exceptionally thick, the diameter of a twizzler. (What's with the candy references?). I'd have preferred a more traditional noodle. BTW, Star doesn't offer any gluten free noodle options. Surprising, because so many Asian noodles are rice based. My yakisiba beef also avoided the traditional noodles and went with the rice noodles I couldn't get with the udon soup. Flavors are "safe", no strong seasoning. And while there was a good amount of beef & veggies, some of the beef strips were a bit dry. I'm thinking I should respect the reason the restaurant is named "Star Sushi" and stick with sushi for my next order.
