Spicy tuna nachos. SO GOOD and SO FILING
    Jamie P.

Don't let the small footprint in a strip mall fool you. This place is so good. And the staff was super friendly and helpful. The spicy tuna nachos were amazing and very filling. My husband and I ordered 4 rolls between the two of us, which is our typical practice. But we barely made a dent after finishing the spicy tuna nachos app. In the future, I will probably just get this as my entrée. They were out of my first two choices of tea. I don't remember what I ended up getting, but it was good. Hopefully next time they will have but firs choice. It's about a 40 min drive from our house, but we will absolutely be back again and again!

Salmon, eel and white tuna sashimi. Paper thin slices.

Food: 1/5 stars for soggy rice, unevenly mixed vinegar in the rice, very little fish per roll (see pictures). Sashimi slices are paper thin, and unevenly cut (perhaps they were prepared by non-sushi chefs???). Overpriced for quality received. Service: 2/5 stars. First, my take out order was 40 min late. Second, while waiting I witnessed an exchange between waitress and a Spanish-only speaking chef... waitress was asking about the chef's sashimi selection of the day for a customer, and it took 2 other workers to translate. Chef was also looking at sushi description while making the rolls. A table came in about the same time I arrived at the table and by the time I left they were still waiting on their food. Ambience: 4/5 stars. Clean and not fishy, pleasant decoration, can be a good spot for date night (if the food was a bit better...) Price: 1/5 stars, expensive for so little fish and poor preparation (which matters a lot in Japanese food)

This was a hole in the wall stop for my husband and I to celebrate an accomplishment that came to fruition today after a long while of planning! It rivals our other favorite sushi place by being intimate and fun while enjoying great food with great company! Definitely priced right and would be a fabulous place to go on a double date or just a surprise date on a Wednesday!

What a surprise! I used Open Table to find best sushi in this little town and am so amazed by the quality of this sushi. It meets California quality and style. I sat at the bar, had the place to myself so fear COVID not... they even have some Chinese appetizers like shu mai! Love this little gem. Plan to eat here every night!

Had the Chirashi Biwl on a recent visit. It was fantastic! Packed with lots of shashimi goodness.

A regular date nite spot for us, we usually get several specialty rolls. Favorites are the Cajun and Fire Dragon

So so so good every time. My only complaint is I've been coming for years and the rolls have gotten smaller + more expensive. Still good

Friendly staff, good food, not crowded or loud except the music which I asked them to turn down and they did.

First time trying Filipino food here in Louisville…read more Came here to try halo halo and got dinner as well. It's a very small dining space inside maybe 4 tables so looks like this is more of a takeout spot. Service was very friendly but food took a little while to come out and we didn't get water until half way through the meal. Sigsig: fried pork belly with onions, peppers and mayo sauce and served with jasmine rice. Delicious overall, the pork was nice and crispy and minced, but the purple onions really added a harsh bite like they were added raw. The dish waseven better with some vinegar and soy sauce sprinkled on top. Portion was pretty generous but the $18 price was a little bit high. Halo halo: came in a big plastic cup, initial presentation was just OK. First time trying it and it was pretty good. Was skeptical about a shaved ice desert but they really made it sweet with lots of co densed milk and it had a few amount of mix-ins like jelly candy and a good amount of chopped coconut. Would have liked to see more ube. It's a very unique desert. Again, a little steep at $10 for shaved ice in my opinion. Overall, pretty good spot to try some Filipino dishes

My favorite part was the ube turon (dessert). The lumpia wrapper and ube filling was brilliant - effective, simple, and hits the spot. My only regret was not getting more. My friends and I struggled to find a place with karaoke in Kentucky and we hit the jackpot here - they were nice enough to lend us their karaoke machine! 5 stars all around, come here when it's not busy and ask to sing to Golden by Kpop demon hunters on the machine!

While visiting Louisville for a class reunion, a group of us wanted to go out for a nice dinner…read more One of them suggested Malones. At first I wasn't sure what to expect as there are two establishments at one location. I was very pleasantly surprised walking into Malone's. The interior is darker and reminiscent of a New York steakhouse with the booths, decor and lighting. Unable to decide what to order, I opted for the filet and crab rangoon roll which was an excellent choice. The steak. cooked to perfection, was tender and juicy. The crab rangoon roll was a crab and cream cheese blend wrapped in seaweed and deep fried. It was out of this world. Our waiter and his assistant provided exemplary service making it the perfect evening. If my travels bring me back to Kentucky, I will definitely seek them out.

We've been eating at Malone's for many many years. Made special trips to Lexington regularly…read morebefore the Louisville location opened and have since eat at the Louisville location dozens of times. I've had some really good meals here and I've had some really bad meals here. As of the last year or so, the meals are more often bad than not. Especially once you factor in the price tag. I will say, our last several visits have been on a Sunday afternoon; not sure if that plays a factor in our experience or not. The some beach cocktail was awful and tasted like straight cheap coconut rum (I've had it before and it was quite good). The tempura vegetables chef feature appetizer was missing the sweet potatoes and pickled carrots advertised, the tempura breading didn't stick to the vegetables hardly at all, the broccoli pieces were so large they had to be cut up before they could be eaten, and the lotus root was way too thick. The server was oblivious about the chef's features. Made comment about it several times and was confused when I ordered some of the chef's features. If it's new, I get it, but would recommend he take a few minutes to familiarize himself. The seared spinalis I ordered cooked medium came out well done, end pieces were burnt to a crisp and tough. My wife ordered a well done New York strip that came out medium at best and the whipped potatoes were SWIMMING in butter. The potatoes may be as the Chef wanted them to be, I'm not sure, but if so, I don't know why anyone would want this. By the time you stir in all that extra butter you have very thin greasy potatoes bordering on potato soup. The server did offer to re-fire my steak and have my wife's cooked more to which we declined. I'm not a fan of doing that, especially cooking a stake more the second time because the outside becomes too done/burnt and the inside becomes dry. At this price point, she should have been offered a fresh steak in my opinion. The manager came by later and offered again, to which my Wife gave in and let her have it brought up to temp. To no one's surprise, it came back with the outside burnt to a crisp and the rest dry and tough (Even more so than well done already is. I recognize that well done steaks are tough/dry in general but she has been eating them here for years and brags about how they still manage to get it tender and juicy from her perspective). She also made mention that the herbed butter that comes with the bread wasn't very flavorful and nowhere near as good as normal and that we should have taken that as a sign. The server ended up comping my steak, which I appreciate. In all fairness, they made an effort to make it right. I feel like they could have done a bit more, especially with her steak but I'm not really upset about the service/response. It's just that the last several visits have been very sub par for the price point and from the quality I know Malones is capable of providing.
