Just had Ray & Son's out to work on my unit. Nolan Rocha really did an excellent job. He took his time and upgraded several unit requirements which should ensure the unit's life for several more years. He took pictures before and after the job and showed me exactly what he was doing and why. Overall, the experience was extremely good and professional. Appreciate his work and how he explained everything before proceeding and after the work was completed. AC was running but blowing hot air and house was not cooling. Tried the basics--check thermostat, changed air filters, ensured outside fan running with no luck. Called Ray and Son and receptionist was friendly and a tech was dispatched within an hour, which I appreciated. After approximately 15-20 minutes of working on the outside unit, he said he had me up and running. However, this is when things went south. He said the total would be over $900. Shocked, I inquired about the exact diagnosis and services rendered. He had not even checked the inside unit. Two capacitors needed changing...that's it. They were charging $515 and $226, respectively. This didn't sound correct. I looked up the exact same capacitors--roughly $30-$70 per capacitor. I called the service supervisor and to confirm that they were actually charging such high prices. Was able to get $200 knocked off the price, but $695 total for diagnosis and to change out 2 capacitors (which literally involves shutting off the breaker, unscrewing a few screws, testing the capacitors, unhook a few wires, and plug in new capacitors) is absolutely taking advantage of/scamming people. Would of been over $900 had I not said something about it. I had to ask the tech multiple times for an actual invoice for records. His reply was "why are you being difficult". To top it all off, the tech made the comment of "Maybe this check won't bounce" as he was leaving. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE GOING TO WAAAAAY OVER CHARGE YOU! read more

I recently had an issue with my HVAC system short cycling and the temperature creeping up to 78°F during the day. Out of concern, I submitted an inquiry through Ray and Son Heating and Air Conditioning's website around 10:30 p.m.--to their credit, I received a call almost immediately to schedule an appointment. I really appreciated their promptness and responsiveness. The technician came out the next day. After explaining the problem, he quickly identified a backed-up drain and quoted me around $300 to clear it out--a bit steep for a 20-minute job, but with this heat, I didn't feel like I had much choice. I asked if our outside drain outlet could be contributing to the issue, so he took a look. That's when things took a turn. He noted the unit was "screaming" and started running diagnostics. After some time, he showed me some numbers on his phone and claimed the compressor was going out. He explained that since our unit was from 2014, they wouldn't warranty just a new compressor, and we'd be looking at $5,000 to replace it--or $8,000 for an entirely new unit with a 10-year warranty. Caught off guard but trusting his expertise, I asked how quickly we could get this resolved. He said possibly by Monday and that I'd receive quotes for both options shortly. That was on Friday. It's now Sunday, and I've heard absolutely nothing back from their company. Feeling uneasy, I had another HVAC company come out for a second opinion. That tech used a different set of tools (which he said were more accurate) and immediately noticed an airflow restriction. He cleaned the coils (something we didn't know needed to be done), adjusted the blower, and gave us practical tips--like using blackout curtains and keeping doors open for better air circulation. The temperature began to drop while he was still there, and the unit is now working fine. Looking back, I feel Ray and Son tried to take advantage of my lack of HVAC knowledge to push a major sale I didn't need. I'm disgusted by how quick they were to upsell without further investigation or education. Thankfully, I got a second opinion--but I worry for others who may not. I won't be using their services again, and I strongly encourage anyone dealing with them to seek a second opinion before making a big purchase. read more

We called Ray and Sons on a Friday and Raphael came out on Saturday because our air conditioner was not cooling. He put a meter to our outside unit and said the compressor was bad and we needed a new one. He said it would cost around $2,700. Our unit is still under warranty and that was absurd for labor. It is only four years old! He then tried to tell us we needed a whole new unit and it would be around $8,000. On Monday we called another HVAC company and the technician found out it was the capacitor which cost $40. I would never recommend this company to a living sole. I see that they have tried to sell numerous people an upgraded HVAC system when they didn't need it. read more

Danny is quick to come out for commercial jobs, he will then send a technician out. The technician will then try to sell you a new unit, turns out my current unit just needed a fuse, FOUND OUT THROUGH ANOTHER HVAC COMPANY!!! ALSO TO GET A QUOTE IT WILL TAKE WEEKS, that's if you do follow up with them!! If you like to feel uncomfortable and spend money on new units when not needed then use them. if not steer clear. read more

A year ago, I purchased a house in Valdosta. Within a month, I had to replace the HVAC unit at a cost of $7000 and had Ray and Sons do the work. Within 6 mos. I had them come out because the condenser unit was making a wierd noise. The tech said my evap coil was severely clogged due to no filter in the unit because when installed, they had put the filter in the door where the previous unit had the filter. They said they could clean the unit for $300! This was their install and failure to install the filter correctly. I cleaned it myself. Fast forward to a week ago, I had them come out again because the thermostat was acting funny and shutting off the A/C. Turns out the drain was clogged from the debris of cleaning it. so they wanted another $225 to clear the drain. I told them that I wasn't paying to fix their incompetence from the original installation issue. When the tech re-installed the air filter, He just jambed it in with no regard to proper installation. I realized this when I removed the inspection panel and seen that the filter was not in a position to filter properly. After several attempts to talk to a person in charge for over 6 months, I finally drove there and was basically told that it wasn't their problem and that "these things happen" and that they were excepting no responsibility. I will NEVER call on them to touch anything regarding my HVAC unit again. In short, they are quick to take your money but when it comes to the quality of their work, they are lacking in good customer service and backing their work. read more

Not the best experience starting with the rep Michelle talking over me to the plumber talking about breaking through walls before accessing the requirements for the install and having to return for a leak. He returned and got it done, but a 3-star rating is generous for this company since I can only base it on my experience. Clearly very poor communication between their staff. Called after hours on 6-30-19 and spoke to a lady there that took all my information down and advised me that when they arrived that morning to the Office around 8 she would have them CALL me!!! The very next day on JULY 1, 2019 I waited around for their call only to never hear from them. So I then called Waller Heating and air ( did great work by the way). Waller showed up and while they were there Ray's heating and son pulled up . Mind you this was after 1pm and without my knowledge they were coming. I advised Ray that Waller was already fixing the issue due to me never hearing from them that morning and they apologized and left. By JULY 5, 2019 only 4 days later they sent a bill to a Collections Agency for 69.00.Collections!!!!! They never gave me a chance to be aware of the bill, argue the bill or even pay it if I wanted to. They NEVER informed me that I owed them money. Why didn't they tell me when they departed my residence just 4 days earlier or gave me an invoice. Why should I have to pay for ANYTHING when it was poor communication on their part. Never in my life have I heard of sending something to collections JUST 4 days after service NOT 30 or 60 BUT 4!!!!!! That is crazy to me. Thanks Ray's for nothing and giving me the chance to not only be aware of the bill but the chance to pay it if I wanted to!!!! I am constantly working hard to improve my Credit and I definitely don't deserve or need this on my Credit!!! Especially when I was unaware!!!! Very unprofessional, un fair and just crazy!!!!! We used them when we lived in Nashville Georgia. They sent out different technician several times and always seemed to give us the runs around. We could have bought a brand new AC for what we paid them. They did not honor warranty from previous homeowners. The one act of kindness they did give to us that they were not gonna bill us for some charges they have now sent us to collection 2 years later. The new person going over accounts said there was no documentation. Wow!!!! Don't use them. read more

I am proud to say that Ray and Son puts their money where their mouth is - When they say they will fix it right and quickly they do just that.
