I brought my car in here for regular oil change and check up. My truck just hit the milestone where I had to do some additional things IE transmission fluid change and coolant system flush. I opted in to all of these additional services because I like to take care of my vehicle. The total bill came out to about $700. When I went to go pick my vehicle back up I walked out to my truck to leave it looked like my rim was super scratched up. Upon closer look it wasn't scratched it was tire lube because they put a new tire on it... Well I didn't get a new tire what is going on here. I talked to my service rep and they said oh yeah I forgot to tell you we popped one of your tires coming off the lift but don't worry we replaced it with a brand new one. I was definitely frustrated that I just paid 700 for service and was not told that my tire was popped and they didn't even clean off all the lube or wash the truck, but I understand accidents happen and I am a pretty reasonable person so I left it at that. Fast-forward to next day and I am driving it and the truck started pulling to the side with the new tire on it. I brought it back up and they did an alignment on it and didn't even test drive it to see if the problem was fixed... it wasn't... So now I have to come back for a 3rd day and waste another 2 hours sitting there. In the end their solution was just to move the new tire to the back of the truck and that will stop the pulling. I am very dissatisfied with this solution and expressed that I was unhappy, because what happens when I go to get the tires rotated the next time? This will be the same issue. I want it also to be known that the tires on the truck have 12k miles on them and they said that if the tread was more worn out they would have replaced both but since they are "close enough" they wouldn't. They just lost a probably life long customer over a 300 dollar tire that should have been fixed the right way the first time. Putting a band aid fix together to cover a mistake is just half-assed. I am not one to leave bad reviews but at this time I feel it is warranted. I wouldn't want anyone else to have the same or similar experience. read more

I had an appointment for an oil change. Got there and they acted as if they didn't know I was coming. When I pulled into the bay, the guy standing there look away as I smiled to say hi. I parked then he asked me to pull further down. When I got out the car, there were three guys. One was the guy standing, one on the phone, and the other one was just sitting there. The two that weren't doing anything just looked away and didn't say anything. When I got to the inside I told the lady behind the glass, they're really friendly huh! Told her why I was there she said okay it shouldn't take that long. I told her I still had my keys because no one said anything. She took my keys. I sat for a few minutes then decided to leave. I DO NOT understand this age of no customer service. It's not okay to ignore customers then expect them to spend their hard earned money. Terrible, after finally purchasing my 2017 Yukon Denali been waiting on the dealer like forever, and after test driving and inspecting my vehicle and the signed paperwork vehicle was fine. I was told they were going to wash it and I waited 2 hours before they finally bought it out without me knowing, final said it was parked out front next to other vehicles, believe they switched vehicles that's why it took so long. Was just last year truck has rust all around the bottom frame, alternator went weight compressor is loud and damaged something always popping up on the dash the somethings wrong, a/c no longer works...needs a condensor...etc...$40,000 used truck they switched on me!!! read more

I bought my 2013 Equinox and after buying and leaving the lot the check engine light came on. It took almost a month to get my car in, even though I purchased the warranty. The service team gave me a list of things wrong with my car totaling almost $6,000.00. They claimed none of the issues were covered under the warranty. I then took my car to a garage and none of the issues they listed were actually broken on my car. I needed a new timing chain, which would have been covered under the warranty. The other garage fixed everything wrong with my car and it only cost $1,700. I cancelled my warranty because you cannot trust this shop. Not only did cancelling the warranty take over a month, they charged me for cancelling... Their service team is out to scam people. read more

I had such a great experience here! I lost my key fob to a rental car and had to have one ordered. When I showed up, they said I needed 2 to program it. So we went over to parts thinking we had to wait to order a second one. They had ordered 2 for us, so we didn't have to wait. Big shout out to Tobias P for going above and beyond helping us out and getting it programmed quickly! Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. The dealership was also very clean. I wanted to make an appointment at a dealership because I felt more comfortable getting an oil change for my older car rather than going to a 10 minute oil change place. I made the appointment for 3:00 and I do understand that most places are understaffed and having a difficult time but if you're unable to do what you need to do then don't offer the service at all. I waited till 3:45 and they had not even pulled my car into the bay yet. So now I have to get an oil change somewhere else and that took up almost an hour of my day. I never missed a payment on my 2013 GMC 1500. The fuel pump was going out and I took it in to be fixed at a shop near me and was told they couldn't fix it due to the rust. They sold me a truck that was a flooded vehicle. Right way told me I couldn't get a new truck with the same monthly payment and would not fix it. 21,000.00 and still making payments on something I can't drive. Sad!!! read more

Needed a new key fob. Spoke with service on the phone, gave my info including VIN and was told to bring my vehicle in. I brought my vehicle in, sat at the desk with the very same Service Tech I had just spoken to (Anthony S.) and confirmed my information. Six hours later and had not heard from Ray Laethem. Waited all day for a call. I went in to see what was taking so long. The service tech had entered the wrong name, wrong address, wrong phone and the wrong VIN on the order. When I pointed out the mistake, he rudely asked me to wait. I wasn't clear as to what I was waiting for. 10 minutes later someone pulls up in my vehicle. No new key fob. No apology. I wasted a whole day getting nowhere. The reason I am writing this review is because of the way I was treated and brushed off as if my time meant nothing. A woman manager walked up to me and snatched the incriminating work-order from my hands. This paperwork included private info of another one of their customers. Where they live, make and model and VIN of their vehicle, phone numbers, service history, payment history etc etc. Again, no apology. No how-can-we-do-better. No let's-try-to-fix-our-mistake. There is no way I would purchase a $30,000 - $75,000 vehicle from these unprofessionals. There is a giant billboard in their parking lot with an old photo of an arrogant looking man I am assuming to be Ray Laethem. The billboard says "Good, Bad or Indifferent. Make a decision" I decided to take my bad experience at Ray Laethem 's Dealership and write a bad review. read more

Never use their service center if you can avoid it. Took my car in Friday morning because the air bag light came on. They never called the entire day. I called them multiple times but the service guy was "unavailable" And of course they're closed on the weekend so they kept my car hostage for 3 days. No call saying what was wrong with the car or that they would need to keep it overnight. Had they simply called on Friday and said "hey we haven't gotten to your car yet, we'll need to keep it over the weekend and look at it on Monday." I would've understood. Even though I made the appointment for Friday morning, with the understanding that it would be done by the end of the day. Just avoid at all costs. read more

I had a tire blowout just a couple blocks away from this dealership in my brand new hellcat, I pulled in just to see if they can help me out and the woman who I believe is the service manager right away gave me an attitude and didn't want to help. She left for 10 mins and came back to say there is 11 different boxes of wheel locks for my car and it's gonna take them hours to find it. Bought 2 vehicles within 6 months a few years back. I will never buy another from them simply because their Service Department is absolutly horrible. I never take time to write reviews but I think this might make me feel better. Having 2 vehicles we have plenty of (negative) experiences in dealing with them, here is my most recent. I had an appointment, that I scheduled online, for an 8:30am oil change. I dropped my car off at 8:25 and was asked if I'll be waiting in their waiting area. Thankfully I had a ride to my my office. At approximately 11:00 I called to check on the status of my SUV, I was on hold for 10 minutes before I was told my car should be ready by 11:30. I think 3 hours for an oil change, with an appointment, is ridiculous. Also take note that kid in the service Dept. is son of the manager. He never returns a phone call. You'll have to chase him down. Every situation always has an excuse. Actually spoke to Jeff Leathem, the owner, a couple times, good guy, but again Service Dept. cost them my business. read more

So let me start with saying this will be the first review posted about this dealership by me. We have been leasing and buying cars from this dealership for more than 15 years. EJ and Matt have been our sales persons. This time we turned in a lease that was slightly over miles. Matt seemed to be distracted while speaking to us and told us" don't worry about the overage on miles" he apparently never relayed this to his manager. At the end of the week the dealership shut down because of COVID. A month later in my new purchase the transmission went out. I called Matt and was told to call a tow company. I was less than a mile from the dealership. Ray Laethem Buick had no contingency plan. I should not have been charged for this tow, but things being what they were I did. My new Terrain was then towed to Moran where it was parked for over a month. At least they provided a new loaner at no charge. Kudos to Moran. When GM Financial came back on line we got a bill for the overage that we were already told was not owed. We would have paid this at the time if it was. Now Matt denies ever saying this, and the sales manager states he would have never allowed this. This is a matter of principle. Some of us still have standards and the expectation that companies and those who represent them will be truthful. I hate lies. Needless to say I don't recommend buying or leasing cars from anything related to Ray Laethem. BTW-the service is garbage on a good day there. read more

Was promised "safe" practices when I dropped my car off for an oil change. I was promised that the staff would be wearing masks while in my car and would sanitize the car after use. As I waited, I watched Brendan, a car driver, park about 8 cars with his masks underneath his chin. I finally had enough and told my sales rep that the drivers weren't wearing masks while in the cars. He told me he'd talk to them right away. 15 minutes later I watched Brendan drive up with my car - sporting his mask covering his neck. I followed him where he parked my car and informed him that he should be wearing masks over his nose and mouth while in other peoples cars. He didn't seem to be very concerned. I let my sales rep know that his "conversation" didn't seem to do anything and that they must change this to ensure the safety of their customers. (And by the way, I was able to watch them park cars as I was standing outside in the rain since they allowed customers to have their masks hanging off their ear while in their waiting room and not wearing them to protect other customers). I should note first that this is actually a 2 part review: The new auto sales department and the service department. New auto sales department: Very good. I would give them a 5 star rating if I could break apart the ratings from my 2nd part. The sales staff was excellent and helpful even though we already had the car picked out from doing our online research. The service department: I won't go back. At all. I would give them 1 star at best. I had a confirmed appointment with them one week after our purchase to have something installed that was missing from our new car. When I arrived (at 7 am, the time I was told to be there) I was greeted by someone who had no idea why I was there, and kept insisting that an appointment wouldn't have been made for "that part". I tried to make light of the situation, and asked him if he thought it was plausible that I would be there at 7 am for the sheer joy of it. As the gentleman at the service counter kept raising his voice (and eyebrows at me in a rude manner) the service department manager actually closed his door. I suppose it was too early in the morning for him to be bothered with an unhappy customer and first impressions of his department by a new customer didn't seem to matter to him. Of course, once I asked the gentleman at the counter to come outside, take a look at my car, and see for himself the part that was missing he admitted that a mistake had been made, and he would get me a loaner. As I write this review, my vehicle is now at Merollis Chevrolet, whom I had dealt with before and had no problems with, for its 10,000 mile check up. Since they are a certified GM service center I didn't think twice about taking my Buick to a Chevy service department. The comical part of all this: I keep getting "it's time to see us!" postcards and such from Ray Laethems service department. They go right in the trash. read more

O rating. Went to look at a used car. They do not even inspect any used cars over 100,000 miles. The tires were almost bald, brake pads were very worn and calibers VERY rusted. Asked several questions and the sales person would not look me in the eye and had a very bad attitude (Calvin). Car was listed for the same price as the settle of the car I had totaled and my totaled car had new tires, brake pads, calibers and completed maintenance. Very dishonest, shady operation. read more

My experience with Ray Laethem and EJ Borden was outstanding. Being new to the area, I needed someone to pick me up at the hotel for a test drive. EJ showed up early at my hotel so that I could see the car. When he realized that my daughter was here for just one day, he provided me with a loaner while they began to qualify me for loan and locate a car that met my requirements. My financing was particularly challenging because I reside in hotel for the time being. This did not phase Eric in financing who proceeded to submit my application to banks for approval. Ultimately, they got me approved for a 0 down loan at 3.22% for purchase. Then, the car itself was not on the lot. EJ located it in Ohio where they drove to get it for me!!! Wasted 3 +hours and $120.00 getting my jeep towed there then back to my house righta after I talked the the ignorant service reps. I called and he said I had to bring my Jeep in to check out the problem. I told him it was for a failed Recall part that broke and was already replaced once. They wouldn't tell me, or were too lazy too look it up that the Failed Recal part(that could of got me killed) was past the expiration date and they no longer honor it. Very unfortunate being from the Pointes. My wife and I wanted to lease a Buick and reached out to one of the sales staff at Ray Latheam three different times with no response after the initial contact (1 x email, phone and text). As a result we ended up leasing a vehicle through Superior Buick in Dearborn and had a wonderful and very customer service oriented experience. We also purchased a Jeep through Ray Laethem Jeep in 2015 and didn't have a good experience in comparison to Superior Buick! We will never support Ray Laethem again, regardless of the dealership location in relation to where we live. Very sad! read more

Nightmare! I called for half a day to set up service to intall part for a recall,I finally had to go to the place to find the service bay devoid of humans. After searching got someone to order part and set appointment for that and several other items for service. On black friday 7am they did not have the part,nor any record of all other work scheduled. No phone call all day. Contacted them at 5 pm. Was told that they would look at it that evening or the next morning and get back to me. No phone call all day again. Called them and was told that our service manager "Mike" was too busy to speak to me but that our car may be looked at the next day.
