So I was working in the area, got hungry, and searched thru Yelp and discovered Ray's--and so glad I did! I ordered the chicken tenders for a coworker and box of chicken (4 pieces) for myself. Service was friendly and efficient and the owner was even kind enough to throw in some extra hot sauces and tenders just for the wait. Now that's service! As for the chicken, my friend said the tenders were deliciously cooked, juicy and flavorful! I had the 4 piecer which came with breast, thigh, wing and drum stick. All were cooked to perfection and tasted fresh, crisp and hot. I tried all 3 of the sauces as I def love my condiments and they too were good! Would I come back? Heck yeah! Sorry Rays, perhaps I chose an off day to visit, but I don't believe l'll be returning to an unpromising chance of perhaps a good day. I was giving your establisment a try since I have an upcoming event that will require a tray of chicken. Unfortunately, this chicken tasted like it was prepared right behind a batch of burnt chicken. I took one bite and immediately threw that piece in the trash. The potatoes weren't fresh and had the texture of being reheated a few times. I purchased the 8 pc. Dinner , so although I wasted $20, I feel greatful I didn't spend more, or worse, order this for the upcoming event. Catastrophe avoided, guess I'll stick with Sharks. The other part of this experience that threw me for a loop is the fact that the woman who questioned my presence upon entering stated she was making sure I wasn't there for jewelry????? I didnt even see Jewelry on display, nor did this appear to be a restaurant????? Yeah, I'll just say I'm glad I prayed over that 1 bite of burnt disappointment, there's no telling what else is going on in that "Business????" 3/18/23 *UPDATE* The owner of this establishment called on 3/16/23 to apologize for the substandard meal I'd received. I've heard so much about this chicken on FB & Nextdoor, that I had to make it my business to go by there today, to see what all the hoopla was about.Well, I ordered the 8 piece Chicken with the Broasted Potatoes & The Catfish. I must say that even after a slow start the food was on point, as others had bragged about. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The Chicken was Crunchy, yet juicy on the inside. I really loved the sorta' spicy Catfish. I haven't tried their Greens, Mac & Cheese or Spaghetti yet, but when I do y'all will be the 1st to know. I love supporting our new businesses in the area. Nothing like having your friends and family members pad a food review site. If I'd have known this was part of the 'Broaster Chicken' franchise I would have passed on even trying to support a local business. You the franchise with the cartoon chicken with a top hat for their logo that you find at some gas stations... https://www.genuinebroasterchicken.com Think about it, getting chicken where I fill my car with gas!? That's a red flag that it's gonna be an inferior experience. I'd like to support Ray and his local business, but for me this was a MAJOR disappointment! 1. Got the order wrong. 2. No utensils provided with meal. 3. Cole slaw small portion that didn't even fill the 2 bite container. Taste was only adequate. 5. Not a fan of the large broasted potato spears. 6. As for the chicken itself, in a word...GREASY! There was no 'crunch factor' at all for either potatoes or the chicken. Chicken WAS moist...but then so was the breading. No crunch, just grease...and without flavor! 7. While french fries were tasty, they too were grease saturated, but if you don't eat 'em while they're still hot you're stuck with greasy limp potato stick mush. My guess is the grease maybe needs changing, because if you don't fry in fresh grease THIS is the end result...grease heavy saturation! Too bad Ray didn't invest in a Church's Chicken franchise, THEN you'd have juicy AND crispy chicken...with flavor! My advice...save your money. read more

Not only is the food fantastic but the owner went above and beyond tonight!! We went to try it tonight but we didn't realize they were closed on Sunday. When we got there we decided to call just for the heck of it. The phone rang and rang with no answer. Before I left the lot I got a phone call from (I'm assuming) the owner saying that he was sorry he missed my call, but what could he help me with. I said that I didn't realize he was closed and he stated that he was hosting a private party so if there was something we needed he would be happy to make it for us! Such a nice guy!!! We had one of the best chicken dinners tonight. So happy we finally have an exceptional chicken place here in the Heights!!! We will be regulars. OMG! This place was the bomb! Let me start by saying that the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is just my thing not a reflection of the food. I feel like no matter how good that there is always room for improvement. If you want a chicken dinner this is hands down the best chicken I have ever had out ! The breading is crisp and the chicken is fall off the bone delicious . I'm not an easy customer either! There is a big light and airy dining room and the place is clean and the proprietor and the cook were both attentive and just really good down to earth folks. I used to go to a restaurant called brothers chicken in New Orleans some of the best fried chicken that I've ever had served out of a gas station. Look it up brothers fried chicken up until now I thought no one could ever come close ! Today I stopped at Ray's roasted chicken. It is truly the best fried chicken !!! Season to perfection !!! Well I had a difficult time locating the business since there was large sign stating Jewelry on the building. There were no sauces offered, no Napkins or cutlery for the coleslaw. The chicken , broasted potatoes , coleslaw are delicious !!! A definitely must try ! My husband tried the catfish dinner with spaghetti , coleslaw and bread and just raved about the catfish too !!
