    Clam strips.
    Jay Ef Jai ..

I subscribe to Nextdoor.com. I vented on that platform the incompetence I experienced @ that hole in the wall on 143rd Street. A number of members suggested other options, one being Frank's Shrimp & Chicken. I'm glad they did. I ordered 1lb of jumbo shrimp, clam strips, 8 wings fried extra crispy. I wasn't crazy about the clam strips. The wings were whole, seasoned, and tasty. I'm not used to jumbo shrimp butterflied. They are shaped like a little lobsters! But delicious. I didn't even need the sauce. Which leads me to another subject: Why no homemade cocktail sauce, and who dips their fried shrimp in tarter sauce???

I have wanted to try Frank's for quite some time, and today, we finally tried it. Since we are still in the COVID pandemic, I called for pick-up. Because our order was large, they required a credit card. They have quite a few items but ordered jumbo shrimp, catfish, oysters, and calamari, which resemble onion rings, all by the pound. From the grilled dinner section, we ordered the salmon and scallops. When we arrived, our food was ready. It takes about 20 minutes to prepare. Everyone is personable and friendly. The establishment is small, but they do have a seating area. By far, this is the best seafood we have had! The breading is tasty and light, and everything is a nice size. They give tartar and shrimp cocktail sauces. The salmon is seasoned perfectly and the rice is just as delicious! We will definitely be back!

Well lit with a nice layout and atmosphere. I nice mural on the wall as well. My wife ordered the 2 pc white chicken and waffle. For some reason they consider a wing as white meat? Anyhow, you get a wing and a huge breast with a waffle. The chicken is fried and the batter has a nice taste to it. The breast was way over cooked and dry however. But overall it was good at a price of $8.99. I had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Its served on a regular hamburger bun and the chicken was extremely small. Most of the sandwich was the bun. It was good well and tasted delicious. It comes with a small amount of fries all for $10.99. This item is way over priced and not at all worth the cost. I would value this at $7-$8. Both of our orders were extremely fresh. Cooked to order. It took 30 minutes from order time to get the food which is too long. Neither of us will order these items again but we will return to try other menu items. And the key here is to call in and order ahead.

The wedges were crispy and delicious. I was happy. So happy that I wanted it again. I went on my own a couple of weeks later and placed the same order. But when I got home I unpackaged the complete opposite of what my friend retrieved for me. Small, tiny, soft wings. I was not happy. I went to social media about it. The manager didn't like that and said she wanted to talk about it. In a raised voice, I was told about all the calls she received from OTHER patrons complaining about their wings and how they were not happy. That made me happy that I wasn't by myself on this subject! She offered a credit or a make up meal but I declined. The other customers calling was vindication enough for me! I deleted the social media post and went on my way. Which brings me to the last visit. I gave them one more try. I went there with an attitude just knowing I would be disappointed. But I wasn't. Was it as good as the visit from the friend of mine? No. Was it as bad as when I went? No. Nevertheless, a good meal. It seems like they have some consistency issues. So, will I eat there again? Food safety and safe handling should be an establishments #1 priority. So gross!!! Why would you do this? Do you not care? Or are you just nasty? So sad, I wanted to give this place another chance since it's conveniently located in the neighborhood, but this is not acceptable!!!! Helpful hint moving FWD sir: when you're finished making a sandwich, take your gloves off and ring up the customer, then when done with that customer; put on a fresh pair of gloves for the next customer. Do not contaminate the bread and veggies by putting money handling gloves in all the containers. No more chances, there's no way..... SMH

TLDR; No vibe at all. Weak car turnout. Mediocre food. Don't waste your time…read more I feel like I need to write this to speak to the car guys and gals who have fond memories of the original Duke's. This is going to be long and you're going to be disappointed. I'm sorry. The History. I went to the original Duke's Drive-in with my dad for the first time when I was 6 almost 50 years ago. It was magical. The yellow lights, the sign, the soft serve ice cream, the oldies playing on the diner speakers, the full lot of hot rods and American muscle--moments etched into my brain for my whole life. I have some great memories from those cruise nights. I was sad when the drive-in closed and sold the lot, but with the retirement community across the street, it was always destined to end. Fast forward to the new location, some 20 or 25 miles south of Bridgeview. They have been here for a few years now, and I figured I had given it plenty of time to hit their stride. No longer close to where I live, it took a lot of time and effort to get there for the regular Saturday cruise night. We missed the entrance to the location twice because we couldn't see the diner behind the gas station and car wash, and the one way lanes offered nowhere to park for non car show participants. Once we finally found parking at the tire dealer next door, the fun started. The plan: food first, then walk the cars. We entered the gas station back door and found a single diner counter inside the station, between the pop coolers and the Icee machines (that were out of order). We ordered our food and waited. The floor was sticky like fly paper. The pop machine spit out flat, warm pop as if it had been unplugged for the last week. The faint smell of bathroom cleaning chemicals and fry grease were wafting in the air. Yum. We headed outside in order to not eat inside of a gas station, and found the only open picnic table 15 feet from a giant propane tank and ice bag chest. Wow. Looking around, there were not as many cars there as we expected--I figured we might be there a little early for the rush of muscle cars. The Food. EVERYTHING was beyond salty. I'm writing this a day later and my lips still burn. Holy crap, take it easy on the sodium. That's not flavor, that hiding a lack of taste. The beef was dry, cold and besides the salt, had no flavor. Even "baptized," the $10 beef was nowhere near the "Best Beef" (according to WGN). Standard fare at Portillo's is light years a better beef. Warm pop and cold beefs. Excellent. To be fair, my wife did enjoy her chili cheese dog (also super salty) and my daughter liked her Chicago dog (though, we did have to make 3 emergency bathroom stops on the ride home, so do the maths). The Cars. I explained already my memories from Bridgeview. I also mentioned that I thought it was a light turnout for a beautiful Saturday night at 6pm. Turns out, once we sat down to eat, almost half of the cars in the lot decided to leave. I don't know where they were going, but the exodus of Challengers, Camaros and Mustangs was telling and hugely disappointing. I think I overheard someone say something about Rt66 drag strip in Joliet, but the empty parking spots they left behind was a bummer. Before we were finished with dinner, most of the cars I wanted to take a closer look at had left for who-knows-what reason. The Conclusion. I honestly went into our "new" Duke's experience with low expectations and a sense of humor about the "new" south side gas station locale. I wasn't disappointed--my low expectations were met, and the whole event made me laugh. The vibe of the old drive-in was epic, and absolutely has not been re-created in Mokena. The food at the old drive-in was great diner food with awesome beef, burgers and dogs, and buckets of almost perfect French fries. The cars at the old drive-in were overwhelming and intoxicating to a youth in the 80s. The old drive-in was the only thing on my mind the second school let out on Friday afternoon. The new Duke's is an inherited name and logo, and nothing else. It lacks character, charisma and any vibe of an old school cruise night drive-in. The food was mostly edible, and that's a low bar for a diner. The sticky floors and propane tank don't add to the mystique, they make you a punch-line. You can't recreate an icon if you are just looking to slide by using someone else's brand.

The interior is very inviting, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's a versatile space that works well for a romantic dinner, a casual date night, or even an evening out with family. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated at a table near the front window. Our server, Naomi, welcomed us right away and immediately made us feel comfortable with her friendly and engaging personality. She brought water to the table, took our drink orders, and returned quickly with our beverages before checking if we were ready to order. After answering a few questions, we decided on the fresh oysters, four-cheese flatbread, and pork belly tacos. The oysters were served first, and Naomi took the time to explain their region and variety, which added a nice touch to the experience. They were fresh, clean, and nicely briny. The four-cheese flatbread was rich and flavorful, made with fresh ingredients that really stood out. We also enjoyed the house-cured pork belly tacos--the meat was tender and well-prepared. We wanted something other than just burgers again, so I proposed seafood. There didn't seem to be a lot of options in this area, but Dancing Marlin seemed to fit the bill and was pretty close. Before going, we looked at the menu, and there really wasn't anything my little one was going to want on the kids menu - there was no seafood for the kids, not even a basic fish and chips. He saw the lobster rolls appetizer though, and that sold him, so we got in the car and headed down. When we went to order, the waiter told us the only thing they were out of was the lobster rolls, but when we asked about the lobster gnocchi that my other son was about to order, they said they could do that, so I asked to speak with the manager. She explained that they only liked to use big whole pieces of lobster for the lobster rolls, and that is what they were out of, but had the smaller pieces they normally used in the gnocchi dish. I asked if she could do the lobster rolls with the smaller pieces, and she confirmed with the chef so we were back in business. The food was all excellent. I had the seared ahi and it was delicious, but was just a small portion for my liking. The scallops my wife had were delicious, but for $38 it was only 4 scallops. Maybe kids who live around here don't want fish when their parents do, but you should at least have a kids portion of fish and chips, or some fried shrimp on the menu for them. I'm not going to order a $27 fish and chips portion for a little kid, but he also didn't come to just eat chicken nuggets or buttered noodles.
