LBP was rec'd by a guy who can do everything, a true 'Mr. Fixit'. He told me the contractor he works for a lot ONLY uses LBP and only trusts them for big jobs. I know him well too. I'd already been ghosted by NK Plumbing (nice guy, no follow up, totally ghosted) so was leery. They were up front with parts costs (replace a 1960's pressure reducing valve) and even emailed detailed cost breakdown. I've already forgotten the techs name but he replaced it quickly, Took a snap for the LG (TERRIBLE COMPANY!) washer pressure as it will not work, saying error codes= but they seem to think I need a plumber when there are many error codes--not just low pressure! Anyhoo, he documented the 70 psi pressure, documented w/a pic, and sent the invoice etc--which I then forwarded to LG. I think this company is upfront honest and good. As homeowners in a condominium, one of the biggest fears that we have is having a flood occur from our upstairs neighbors which could leak into our unit or for OUR plumbing to burst which may cause damage below. So, while we originally planned to upgrade our kitchen sink and faucet fixture, we inspected our unit's plumbing and discovered that the supply line to our water heater had rusted (even though it's only 3 years old). We quickly called Little Big Plumbing to address this issue before our fear could materialize. Making an appointment through Megan was quick and easy. My husband described the issues, provided our address and then all we needed to do was wait. Megan scheduled Mike (owner/master plumber) to come to our unit and he arrived right on time! He quickly changed out the supply line with copper pipe, which is a lot more durable than what was originally there. We even discussed our plan to replace our kitchen sink with Mike and replacing our washing machine valves with copper ones as we're concerned about durability and safety. He will be placing an order for the deeper kitchen sink model that we selected and will return to install it. Mike was personable and efficient. He provided an invoice which itemized materials, labor and estimate for upcoming sink removal/installation and washing machine valve replacements. These guys used to be great when you could deal with the owner Michel directly. Had a simple house bib that needed to be changed but they could not even find the water shut off, he told me I needed to get the board of water supply to shut off my water. So they did nothing but charged me $78 dollars for what they called" a diagnosis, what a joke I knew what the problem was I didn't need them to charge me to tell me how much it will cost if they fix it later once the board of water supply does the job of turning off the water. The owner used to come work on my house for years and would have been able to solve the missing shut off valve no problem I'm sure but now a days they just charge you for coming out even if they do nothing, never again I am done with these guys. PS the receptionist was rude when I tried venting my frustrations about the BS charge, not sure who she thinks she is but what ever....next! read more

Estimate of about $400 was provided to remove and install a new flush valve for a Toto single piece toilet. The price seemed unreasonably high so I sourced the part online for just under $50 and viewed a YouTube video showing me that only 2 screws had to be loosened to remove the old valve and retightened to install the new one. My electric water heater was old, rusty and seeped water sometimes so I gave them a call before it turned into a bigger problem. We had a very slow water leak so I called and it was easy to schedule an appointment. The kind lady taking my information over the phone said the plumber would call me while he got closer. Keone was right on time, as scheduled, and was pleasant to talk to. I described what was going on and he checked on a few things. I contacted Little Big Plumbing because I wanted to replace the water heater in my condo unit. Megan answered and was familiar with the condo, knew what type of water heater I needed, and gave me a very reasonable quote over the phone. I was assigned LBP by American Home Shield warranty and they did not disappoint! I was really hesitant bc the last few plumbers from other companies weren't that timely or professional. That was never the case with LBP. I would get text and email confirmation for my appointments. The technician would always call me when he was in route. Full transparency, this is my email I submitted to the company. Here's my experience: Good morning I finally found out why my shower was leaking after your plumber replaced the shower valve. Apparently he did not remove the cartridge before sweating the copper pipes. Due to the high heat and every plumber knows that there are rubber gaskets inside of the shower valve within the cartridge and instead of removing the cartridge and sweating the copper pipes, he left everything in place dust melting the rubber gaskets, I was only able to find this out after talking to the manufacturer of the valve Simmons, as well as having someone else come out and remove the cartridge to see that the gaskets had been melted. I say all this to say that I chose you on Yelp for high reviews. However, my experience has been dismal. You initially quoted me $850 to replace the shower valve after I submitted photos so there is transparency in the scope of work that needed to be done. When I went to confirm, the charge went up to over $950. And I had to pay 50% of the amount in advance although legally, I'm only obligated to pay 1/3 of the cost. Reluctantly I did so when your plumber arrived, he wanted to charge me an additional $250. After I was stern on not paying the additional cost, he begrudgingly did the work and I wonder if he purposely left the cartridge in so I would call you back. When I called you back and told you my shower neck was still leaking you sent him back out to "check his work" and I received a bill for over $100 as a service fee. In addition to an estimate to replace the cartridge for over $300. Do you think that this is moral? Nonetheless our group you in with the rest of mediocre overpriced trades on the island who care more about taking peoples money than doing quality workmanship. I needed to replace my toilet since it had a crack. Michael came to do the replacement, and he was courteous, professional, and he kept the area clean as he was removing the old toilet, and installing the new one. I peeked into look, and the old toilet was on a pad to not damage the floor and tub. He even had me flush the new toilet, so I would know the sound. Not very happy with the service of this company. They were assigned to us through American Home Shield (AHS) for a job on July 3rd. We were not able to get an appointment until July 9th. The individual that showed up stated that we needed to change the shower valve and trim. When he tried to disconnect the "stem" faucet it broke off (due to a lot of rust, wear and tear). He saw that it was galvanized older plumbing, and stated he couldn't do anything today, looks more than just a stem replacement. He FaceTime'd with someone and discussed the situation. The closed out that service request and on July 10th, a new Service request number was assigned. Four days later on July 14th, we received an e-mail from Little Big Plumbing (LBP) with an "estimate" for $1,105.96 to do a "Two handle shower valve replacement"; the estimate did not include tile replacement.; We responded with waiting to hear from AHS and our warranty work. Note, LBP, by contract are not supposed to contact the client with a bill until after the appraisal is reviewed and approved (which had not been completed yet). To us it looked crooked and they were just trying to get some side money. On July 16th - Called LPB again and this time talked to owner Mike about the invoice/job; he stated he was waiting on AHS, stated he would get back to me on Friday July 17th, nothing heard. July 20th rolls around and LBP (Mike) called with no update, blamed AHS On July 21st - Messaged LBP that we have not heard back from them; he responded that we would not hear back from him and that AHS should be our next call. He stated he e-mailed their rep at AHS on Thu July 16th; AHS rep contacted them on Fri July 17th and that they would have the authorization supervisor contact us about our service. On July 22nd - Contacted AHS on the status of our work orders; the rep stated they "authorized" the work on July 14th to change out the shower valve and trim. However, on July 22nd LBP "Transferred Work Order" stated they would not do the job and send someone else. We have tried to call LBP and they will not return our calls. Their contract just left the job site with a broken shower faucet...not totally unusable (before it was just leaking). I would not do business with this company again, a bunch of crooks and unprofessional. Update 7/26...looks like the owner Michael W wrote a response to my above post. Here is a rebuttal to his comments, some of which are a FLAT OUT LIE. Some of these errors are with AHS on the "status of the claim" not changing on their site, no phone or e-mail updates, nothing at all. So information initially came from LBP. However, when we called AHS, we received a different side of the story. We don't have a dog in this fight, we just have different info from LBP vs AHS. AHS may not consider further authorization because LBP broke the tub spout and it obviously was "wear and tear" if it was rusted and just broke off. However, the way LBP reported it back to AHS made it sound that it wasn't wear and tear (thus not covered by AHS). It is strange that LBP states that the repair was not authorized as of 7/12, as AHS told us that it WAS authorized on 7/14. It is a complete lie that we requested an estimate/bid, LBP sent an estimate to us unsolicited, which is against the contract/policy between LBP and AHS (we are told). LBP is just trying pull a slick one on us behind AHS's back with a $1000+ estimate. As for insults and harassment calls/text messages from Gina to LBP...she is a Special Education teacher of 29 years and has the patience of a Saint. Here is her text verbatim: #1 "We have not heard back from you. You said you would get back to us by Friday". (it was 5 days later when he finally replied). Text #2: "You received the authorization from AHS, I am on the phone now with AHS doing your job" (no response). Text #3: "This is to change out the valve and trim (no response)." Text #4: "This is what your guy left" (picture of cracked valve he broke). Text #5: "We are also told that your tech broke the valve." "I guess it was rusted." "Hmm, I think that goes under wear and tear. "You owe us a new valve." These text message are not threatening in any way, nor were the phone calls. Mike would like you to believe otherwise to discredit us with pernicious comments about us. In two phone conversations, we expressed our frustration of the communication and execution of this work and that we'd be writing a one star review. Update July 30th. AHS reassigned our claim to D.Barretto's, they called us the next day to set up an appointment. Jason came to the house, diagnosed the problem and fixed our issue in less than an hour. He did it on the spot. No extra fees out of our pocket and everything works. Not sure why these different plumbers see the same problem differently. Let's get it right, I did not refuse to pay, I paid for the rough in and was not happy so I told you I was going to use someone else to install the fixtures. You agreed that since you did not finish my water heater install that that was fine. As far as the mess up you made with not plumbing out the 2 other pipes. Why would I have you install knobs with settings for those pipes and not want them installed. If I knew you would not answer my call or texts, I would not have signed your iPad that you hurried me to sign, after I told you that the shower pipe was still too short, you said they sell adapters at Ace or home depot. We have worked with LBP a few times at a couple of different homes. They touched basically every fixture in my house and added some new items like a gas dryer and tankless water heater for me. I requested some details to make the installs in the house a little more sleek such as plumbing the washing machine waste in the wall instead of draining into my sink. They accommodated all my requests. I am super chill about having people working on the place and doing their thing but they keep to a professional style. They keep work areas tidy. My water tank had evidence of corrosive leaking. I contacted a few plumbers and appreciated Michael's approach. He made an appointment to come and assess the situation before giving me a quote. Michael decided he would change out the corroded pipes and leave the water tank intact. My water tank was only 3 years old. That evening a friend prompted me to check my warranty - warranty was still good! I managed to contact Michael not knowing what the next step would be. He told me not to worry and he would contact the company about this, on my behalf. The water tank company had decided to replace my tank with a new one with a new warranty. Michael took care of working with the local company/distributor to order the tank and pick it up to replace my current tank. Michael came to our place well-prepared. It is evident that he takes PRIDE IN HIS WORK and IN YOUR HOME. He takes all precautions to have protective blankets and mats in case of any water leaks while dismantling the tank. He emptied the water tank with a hose to our bathtub. His work is PRECISE and NEAT. He works with CONFIDENCE. There was a lot of sludge in our bathtub from draining the tank. Michael insisted on cleaning it and brought a disinfectant spray with him to complete the task! The drain pan under the water tank was mostly soiled with permanent old rusty water leaked stains. I looked at Michael and said that I would prefer a brand new drain pan since the water tank was brand new. Without hesitation, Michael said he would go and pick up one and be right back. Michael exemplifies this quote: "Treat others as you would want them to treat you". He is KIND and a POLITE CONVERSATIONALIST. PROFESSIONAL. HONEST. TRUSTWORTHY. Then I'll add my new review after it. =============== Early 2013: One of the toilets in the house I'm renting was leaking around the base, and when I went to replace the wax seal, I found out that the toilet had been installed without a flange! I called LB Plumbing based on their Yelp reviews. The phone receptionist was very courteous and professional, and arranged for a plumber to come to the house. The timeframe that they arranged was very short (4pm to 6pm), which conveniently allowed me time to get home from work (without leaving too early). Chris and AJ showed up right on time, ran to get the parts they needed, and had the repairs done before I knew it. The price was a lot less than I was expecting (which my landlord will appreciate), and the repairs came with a 3 month warrantee. I was very happy that I called this company -- excellent service at a great price. I would give them my strongest recommendation. ================= 26 Oct 2018: I'm in a different house now, this one I own, so I only want to call a plumber I trust. My first thought was to call LB Plumbing, and I'm glad I did. I needed a new toilet installed, and rather than mess with it myself, I called to have it done professionally. I removed the old toilet, and when I called, the receptionist took notes on what I needed (new wax seal, bolts, etc) and I was happy to see that these were reflected on the invoice I later received. The service we needed was to get a cast iron clean out pipe camera'd to see what kind of shape it was in. Mike and his partner came out and did the job, always providing explanations. Called their office around 2pm yesterday & spoke to a very friendly young lady named Megan. She was very professional & courteous. Was hoping they could fit me in yesterday, but it was pretty late in the day already, so when Megan called me back to say the earliest they could schedule me was between 8am - 10am this morning I told her that would work fine. After that call, I received a text from Megan, to confirm my appointment. I had asked Megan about the Plumber that came to our house the last time I made use of their services, his name is Savea. I was thrilled to find out that he was still working for them, so I asked if he could be the one to take care of our plumbing needs. From the last time, I had found out that he actually luves right down the street from me, so I thought it would be very convenient for him. I was lucky once again, as Savea was the one sent to our house! He's such a nice young man & very professional! This time he had a partner & I forgot to ask his name, but he was very nice also. I showed him the problem area, our toilet, LOL! Explained what was happening & he said he knew exactly what needs to be done. He explained what the main problem was, but ask if I wanted a couple of other small parts changed out, so I said sure! Before they started the work, he showed me how much the total would be, which turned out to be on the lower side of what I was expecting. Gave him the thumbs up & they began working. I was watching TV, so I wasn't paying attention to the time, but before I knew it, they were done. He showed me what was done, gave the toilet a test flush & we were all good again! Settled the bill & they were on their way. Shortly after Savea & his partner left, I received a text from Megan, asking if I was satisfied with my experience & their service. This review is long overdue Remember. Mike is my plumber as I stated from my original review. I have call for his service 4 times since 2014 2015: I had gas line installed on my property. I live in a neighborhood where there is no natural gas. So I had to go the propane route. Mike did the permit to city and constructed gas piping in accordance to the city and Hawaii gas specification. Now I have a gas stove and gas water reheater. Im very please and a price you can't beat 2016: I had a new HUGE tub installed in my house. It's like 2 1/2 feet deep. I so wanted a ofuro tub. I had HUGE vanity sink and HUGE HUGE walk in shower steam room also installed. I call Mike for services again. I needed him to do all the plumbing for those 3 features I didn't want the contractor to do it because I only want Mike to do the plumbing. The reason being is that he redid my entire piping in my house when I first I bought the house and I wanted him to do any new additional plumbing because I trust him plus I had some tile work still pending and Mike said he will finish up after I finish up the tile work. Great person and Outstanding plumber Just FYI. I still haven't done the tile work yet. Ugh! 2017: i called Mike again because I noticed that my common bathroom started to smell ripe. He told me that the previous contractor (this is before I met Mike) didn't install a toilet vent Mike never touch those pipes before because that part of the house was unlivable at that time. When I renovated a contractor did those pipes. Now u know why I just want Mike to do my plumbing. Never again I will let a contractor do my plumbing. 2017: I bought a dishwasher. Just in case if I ever decide to rent my house. I'm old school. Hand wash dishes and drip dry. I just use the dishwasher for Tupperware storage. Again I had to call Mike to do the plumbing for the dishwasher. Man of his word finish the job in 3 hours. Again this company great and very competitive pricing. Thanks again.
