I am rewriting my review as my previous review has somehow been deleted. I saw some great feedback from this restaurant so my girlfriend and myself decided to give it a try one day. The restaurant was well decorated and I found most customers to be white and family oriented. The owner of the restaurant was initiating conversation with every customers except for us, which I found extremely odd. We were neglected for 1.5 hours and our server continued to try to take away our plates without our consent although we were clearly working on our food. This owner is racist who does not appreciate diversity. We are well educated and contribute to the society with responsible roles and I must say I have not treated like this at a restaurant like this for a long time. I am never returning and I warn all non white customers. I hope this review does not get deleted again. read more

We usually travel to Toronto/Richmond Hill to have great Persian good. We decide to go to Burlington and try a new place. Rayhoon did not disappoint. The location, friendly/helpful staff complimented the delicious food at the restaurant. We had the tasty egg plant appetizer and followed with Kabob entrees. The staff was friendly and our waitress was very attentive. We'll be sure to be a repeat customer. read more

This was my first time in a persian restaurant, so I can't testify to the authenticity of the food but I can say it was delicious. Starting from the flat bread with sesame, which was amazing. I had the Fesenjoon with saffron rice. The portion looked just about right but it was so delicious and filling I couldn't finish half of it. To finish I had the Makhloot, and as a person with the sweet tooth I loved it. It wasn't too sweet but it was delicious and exotic. The atmosphere was nice and quiet and the service was prompt and good. I highly recommend this place. We will be coming back here in the future. read more

The rice was bland, with no real saffron in it, only yellow food colouring. The Zeytoon Parvardeh seemed like they were canned olives. The Fesenjoon had fatty, grizzle pieces of uneatable chicken and the sauce was so sugary and didn't have any of the other flavours in it. The Addas Polo was over seasoned with raisins, which caused it to be too sweet, and yet bland at the same time. The Dahl Addas was watery and lacked flavour. Bad wine list/selection for by the glass....over priced Beaujolais. We were so disappointed, because we were really looking forward to eating here after many good reviews. --maybe it was a bad night for the kitchen? This place is very nice. I went for lunch with my wife and kids for a saturday lunch and we were greeted by the owner and his family who are running the restaurant. The service was good and non intrusive. The owner who was serving our table was always stanging several feet away so he wouldn't disturb us. The food is excellent, as always with persian cuisine. I hear they have a special evening buffet with belly dancing, I will try it once. I recommend this restaurant for a nice meal with the family or for a date. read more

Found this quaint restaurant in the heart of Burlington Square. We always like to try something different and we were blown away. The variety of flavours is more than your mouth can separate. The starter dips are great. The waitress suggested the combo of three dips. She said they were smaller portions but we still so large we had some to take home. The main courses are unique stews served with a side of rice. All I can say is amazing. The portion size is generous and the wait staff always very helpful. read more

Not impressed. We ordered a dish that two skewers one chicken and the beef. We asked if they could give us two chicken instead. They said if they remove the beef it would cost us $10. Seriously!! Very sad. The pita that came with the dip was so cold, it felt like it came from the freezer. Super slow service. 45 mins to get our main course. The cuts were so small that it was a joke. Finally after we finished, I had to go to the counter to ask them to give me the bill. I would never go back nor would I recommend this place. read more

I've been many times to this restaurant always have great service and taste. However, this time I'm surprised that they don't have baby board (changing table) !! For my 9 months baby. What ever was the excuse, they only offered me a small table on washrooms hallway !!!! Other than that .. its really a good restaurant but sure not for baby's or toddlers. read more

Mom and I decided to try out Persian food for the first time and headed over to Rayhoon Persian Eatery for a Mother's Day dinner. To begin with, the journey over to the restaurant is quite cute. Cobblestone paths surround the various restaurants which are nestled in what look like little house shacks. It's like being in a village where perhaps a modern day Snow White may choose to live...(?) The restaurant is fairly neat and clean and decorated with Persian arts and decor along the walls with warm paint colors adding to the ambiance. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious which doesn't look like it would be from the outside. The one nice thing about their menu is that it's fairly limited with only a few items in each category. Appetizers; we ordered the Nooneh Garm (a flat bread with sesame seeds) alongside Kashk-e-Bademjoon (eggplant topped with a yogurt sauce, & lightly flavored with garlic, onion & mint). This was very refreshing, delicious and got our palates going in anticipation for the main course. Main Course; ordered a traditional Persian dish, Ghalieh Mahi. This is a tilapia stew with herbs and seasonings (if your a fish/seafood kind of person, you would probably enjoy this too). I found it mild, and not overly spiced, which was nice. Dessert; we tried something that I am very familiar with since it rings in close to Indian dessert too, Makhloot. This is a combination of saffron & rosewater ice cream with chunks of dried cream & faloodeh (pistachios and a Persian sorbet made with vermicelli noodles & rose water). It sounds like a mouthful, but it was very refreshing, delicate and well put together. Summing Up: All-in-all, it's a well-kept restaurant. The menu is simple & the food tastes good. It's in a great location down in Downtown Burlington. Definitely a must-try if you've not tried Persian cuisine before, your sure to enjoy it! read more

Found out about this restaurant by googling for persian restaurants in the area! Went to Rayhoon for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend, who happens to be persian. I ordered gheimeh and he had the soltani. For dessert, we had the mahkloot. Of course, can't forget to mention that we also ordered a jug of doogh :) Overall the food was very good however the gheimeh was not what I had anticipated! I had better gheimeh at other restaurants..this one was missing the potatoes and the stew itself was just noy the best quality around. The soltani, which I also tried was amazing: very juicy and well cooked. I wish I had it instead of the gheimeh, but there's always next time. The restaurant itself is pretty difficult to find especially if you're coming out of town like we did. It's tucked away in a square, but it's nice. The owner also came to our table and asked how everything was. He was very friendly and mentioned the patio in the summer time, belly dancing and buffet every 3 weeks on the Friday. Overall we liked this place and will return. It also gets bonus points for being closer to home than the persian restaurants in Toronto! read more

My boyfriend and I were up visiting with our furkid and after a long car trip we were hungry! We started wandering around downtown and came across this little area that reminds me of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter! In the middle of this little brick alcove was Rayhoon! We went over to the front where the menu was posted and while we were looking through it, this older man comes out to talk us through the menu! We decided to eat there and we are SO glad we did!!!! It was my boyfriend's first foray into any sort of Middle Eastern food and he became a fiend!! We went there several more times after our initial visit and found the food just as good as was the service. I've NEVER had more personal service as I did at Rayhoon even though we just did take away! The food is great, the people are great, and the location is adorable! My boyfriend and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy but we were seated in a timely manner. We ordered the Kashkeh Bademjoo to start. It was lukewarm and topped with oil and mint, which my boyfriend did not like at all. Personally, I found it fine, and liked it. My boyfriend ordered the Koobideh Kabob which comes with rice, 2 beef skewers and a grilled tomato. He loved it. The grilled tomato was a nice touch and the meat was flavourful. The "saffron infused" rice was really a large amount of white rice with a small amount of yellow rice and saffron on top. I ordered the Bademjoon Stew - eggplant, beef and tomato based, also it comes with rice. This was a real disappointment, especially for the price...it came served in a small bowl with literally 3 small pieces of beef with one piece just being the fat from the meat! A few small pieces of eggplant, all in a heaping pile of broth. It tasted fine but I was starving after bc the soup had nothing in it. My boyfriend had to share his meal with me. It was an alright dinner, the food had flavour but definitely not worth the amount we ended up paying. read more

This review is based on a freezing cold Sunday night dinner. I will jump straight to the food as everything else about this place is ordinary. As with hundreds of other Mediterranean/Persian places, I started off with a hummus spread. I also ordered the barbari bread which this place claims to be a speciality of theirs. Surprisingly, the hummus was served cold and was really bland. A store bought hummus is better honestly. I expect traditional hummus robber served warm if it were made fresh, it should have a layer of olive oil sprinkled with spices on top. If you are just serving hummus made in a batch, you have killed the spirit of hummus and lost your right to be called an authentic Mediterranean restaurant. Ok,enough with the rant on hummus. The barbari bread was just any other bread, not sure what was special about it. I then had the marinated chicken breast with rice and it again was totally bland. I was also dry so had to eat it with sips of water in between every bite. Needless to say, really disappointed by this place given it has more than 4 stars on yelp! read more

The place is beautifully decorated, the outdoor seating area has a tree in the middle covered with string lights, and everything smelled good. My boyfriend got the Ghormeh Sabzi, which is a herby and very fragrant beef and kidney stew. It was really flavourful and delicious. I got the Fesenjoon, a chicken stew that's sweet and tangy from pomegranate molasses, and delightfully rich with ground walnuts, although there was butternut squash puree in there I couldn't really taste. I really liked my dish as well. We both plan to come back here and try more stuff from their menu! read more

I really enjoyed my experience here. This was my first time trying Persian food and I have to say the food was really good. My boyfriend and I was in Burlington to visit his friend and decided to have lunch here. The food was very flavorful. We ordered a lot of dishes to share. I think the Fasenjoon was one of the favorites with all the guys. We changed out of of the rices to the Barbari Bread. Oh the Barbari Bread was my favorite. It was SO GOOD!!! I also liked the Ghalieh Mahi too. We also ordered desert after our meal. We ordered the Baghlava and the Rollette. I thought the Baghlava was a bit too sweet for me. But I really enjoyed the Rollette. I also ordered their Persian tea (tea with cardamon). I liked the tea too, although I would of preferred it to be stronger but I typically drink really strong tea. Overall, I really enjoyed the food here and the service here. It was a very good experience. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

The beef kebab was the most tender meat I've ever eaten in my LIFE.

Have returned here several times. Easily the best lamb shank I've ever had. The minced beef and chicken thigh kabob is very good as well. Large portions of rice and meat, will definitely fill you up. Would recommend to friends and family for sure! read more
