This is some of the best mandi I have had in the GTA! I came here for iftar and while the wait was quite long, my party of 5 was accommodated as soon as a table opened up. We were greeted with a lovely lentil soup, which was rich and perfectly seasoned. Next came the sambusa, which was filled with delicious ground beef. The star of the evening was the mandi, which had juicy and tender meat, fluffy seasoned rice, and sweet and savoury toppings that complimented the dish so well. Been going to the Ridgeway plaza location since their opening. They are consistent and generous. Either dining in or taking out. Lentil soup is provided as a starter for dine in. I always order the same dish; mini lamb mandi. It is a large portion, enough for two meals. I rarely finish it in one sitting. The lamb melts like butter. It's so tasty. I've tried the chicken mandi and Greek salad (good). I love their Adani tea and because I'm a frequent patron, I accumulate lots of points. They provide a sample of it after your meal. During Ramadan, they provided a complimentary fruit platter for patrons, which I thought was a nice touch. Service is great. Servers are lovely, helpful and kind. The interior has been renovated since the last establishment. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and they are on top of their cleanliness, including the washroom. To visit at Monasaba was at my list for so long. Yesterday finally I made it. The restaurant might be small in size but nicely decorated. The service was superior. I ordered their Kabab meal with rice. Quantity was really huge can't be eaten by 1 person. On the top I had been provided their Adani Tea and Lentil Soup. had a very disappointing experience collaborating with this business Ridgeway plaza location . I did not approach them for collaboration--they contacted me. They invited me for a paid collaboration, and I accepted in good faith. I travelled to their location, spent my time creating content, and paid my editor to produce the final video. After I fulfilled my part of the agreement, they stopped responding to my messages and declined my calls, despite remaining active on their business social media pages. I made multiple attempts to resolve this matter privately before sharing this experience publicly, but I received no response. This collaboration involved both my time and money, and I believe creators deserve to be treated with professionalism and respect. Businesses should honor the commitments they make instead of ghosting creators after the work has been completed. I am sharing this review to document my experience and help other creators make informed decisions before collaborating with this business. Also, the community shouldn't support such businesses to steal other people's money. I also have screenshots of our communication and unanswered follow-ups to support everything stated here. Additionally, my honest feedback on the food and service: I found the food lacking in flavor and overall taste. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations, and I personally would not choose to purchase it. The service experience was also disappointing. During my visit, the cashier was not very attentive, and I had to repeat myself a few times. The seating area was not properly maintained, with leftover dishes on several tables. In my opinion, they have the best Mandi in Mississauga. I've tried Mandi from almost all the places here and this one is a clear winner. The food is flavourful and quantity is great. This was the first time I tried Yemeni food and I was pleasantly surprised! The mandi was the highlight for sure, with lamb that was falling off the bone and beautifully seasoned rice. Here's the full rundown: - Mandi: must order, the lamb slightly edges out the chicken but both are great - Qolaba: we tried the beef, it was good but needed more sauce - Sambousa: light and crispy, these were delicious and went well with the sahaweq sauce - Salad: this was a big miss. Basically a prepped salad with store bought italian dressing, the lettuce at the bottom of the box was brown and inedible. You can't serve this in a restaurant. But in the spirit of Ramadan we're showing compassion and not docking a star for it. Overall I would say this is a great spot for the mandi alone. The atmosphere in this restaurant is absolutely stunning and cozy! The dining area is spacious and very clean. My first time trying mandi at a Yemeni restaurant. The lamb and chicken were really delicious. I personally prefer lamb because it's tender and flavorful. The rice is mixed with different spices and fried onions, almonds, and raisins on top. I can't say I've eaten much Yemeni food in my life, so I was pretty excited to check out Monasaba. We arrived around lunchtime on a recent long weekend, and the place was maybe half full. (By the time we left a half hour later, the restaurant was packed.) We decided to share a couple of things, the Beef Qolaba ("Sizzled diced beef with onions, green onions and tomatoes topped with fresh cilantro") and the Double Lamb Mandi ("Roasted lamb to perfection sitting on a bed of aromatic Basmati Rice with the option of fried onions, almonds and raisins on top"). The food was delivered to our table a short while later and it's very good. I especially enjoyed the Qolaba, since it's essentially a stew and I love a good stew. I wish it had been a little saucier, but the various components were all prepared really well. And I definitely enjoyed eating it with the rice that came with the other dish. The Mandi was also good, but the lamb pieces, which were super tender, didn't contain as much edible meat as I would've preferred. The rice was a little dry, too, and both dishes felt like they needed a sauce to tie them together. Still, I enjoyed my meal at Monasaba quite a bit and I would definitely return. read more

Monasabah is a brand-new restaurant brought to you by the ownership and management team of Almonasabah, which is an established (albeit smaller) smaller restaurant and catering business. Last year I tried a Lamb Mandi dish at Almonasabah last year, and damn near fell in love with it. When I heard about Monasabah, an authentic restaurant with an extensive menu, I absolutely had to try it. As a disclaimer, I have no experience with Yemeni food, so please take my review with a grain of salt. Monasabah checks off all the boxes. The experience (not unlike the food) is authentic, fresh, and memorable. The restaurant space feels traditional yet colorful. It is a narrow dining hall with a long-padded bench running along one side. Beautiful photographs of people in traditional Yemeni attire and artifacts of Yemeni culture adorn the walls. Traditional music is playing in the background. The process for ordering is simple. Go to the counter, pay for your meal, grab a number and find a seat. Someone will bring the food over to you as soon as its prepared. Ambience and service are nice and all, but the food is why I'll drive 40 minutes for another meal here. The Lamb Mandi is lamb roasted in a specialized clay oven (similar to a tandoor) served on a bed of flavorful rice and topped with nuts, sautéed onions and raisins. It can be described as a bit like pilaf but definitely has it own unique taste. The Mandi at Monasabah is the best! The lamb is so soft that its literally falling of the bone. The flavors of the dish are complex and layered, with a new experience hitting your palate seemingly every few seconds. You can eat it with a fork or go about it the traditional way and use your (right) hand. You are fine either way. The lamb qolaba is a dish I have never heard of until I came to Monasaba. Its cubed lamb with veggies and spices and fresh cilantro. It is served with a choice of rice or Yemeni bread. The freshly baked bread can be used as a utensil, by pinching off a piece, and grabbing some meat with it. If you have tried Ethiopian food before, you will understand what I am trying to say here. Nakie is a cold drink made with black raisins. They soak the raisins in the water for a while until it changes colour and takes on the flavor of the raisins. It's a tasty enough and certainly worth trying once if you never had it. But at $3.95 per glass, it doesn't blow me away. For dessert I had a Fatta Tamar with a glass of Shahi Adani. Fatta Tamar is a traditional desert which is kind of like date bread served with honey and thick cream. It was fresh and pretty to look at but a little bit too sweet for my palate. I also found it to be a bit dry. Shahi Adani is a sweetened lose leaf tea boiled with cardamom and milk. It's a little bit like a (properly prepared) chai masala. The Shai Adani is absolutely delicious and a great way to finish off a great meal. Of course I got excited and ordered a lot more than one can reasoably expect to eat in one seating. I'm afraid that this won't be the last time I do that. read more

I try and keep my reviews as honest as I can and I'm a sucker for promoting small businesses if they are good. This place is know for their mandi which is a rice dish topped with meat and condiments( onions, sultani raisins and almonds). Since this years thanksgiving was low key and I didn't plan anything at home I opted for take out. For me it was just about sitting together at home and enjoying a meal with lots of gratitude. We ordered a chicken and lamb mandi which was fantastic. The rice was beautifully fluffed up with amazing aromatic spices I did see some cloves and small green caradamon in the rice. And it was topped with lamb and chicken both seasoned to perfection. The meat was falling off the bone. Also the fried onions, almonds and the raisins just makes this dish so so delicious the mandi is definitely a 10/10. The quality of the meat was great too. The order was taken over the phone and they delivered on time. The person who took the order over the phone seemed very polite. This restaurant is located in a busy plaza on Dundas with plenty of parking in the front. I would have given this place a five star till I actually saw three men walking in to pick up the order of which two did not have the mask on.They stayed in there for a good 5/7 minutes while we waited outside for them to leave so we could pick up our order. The two men did not even cover the faces with their shirt or sweater nothing like that.I think the fair thing by the cashier or the owner or whoever was working the shift should have been to have requested the two men to leave the store while the third man with the mask could've picked up the order for everyone. This to me was absolutely irresponsible behavior by the staff. How can you jeopardize everybody else's health by allowing people in who do not have their face coverings? I thought plenty of times before writing this review but I thought this was the right thing to do at least the owners will be more mindful next time if only the read this review. read more

So happy we found this place when desperately looking for something to eat near us. We have never tried Yemeni food before and were curious. Quickly looked at the menu online to make sure I had vegetarian options and they did have a few! We went in at lunch and the place was pretty empty. We ordered an appetizer and a main as we weren't sure of the portion sizes. The appy was bread soaked in spicy minty yogurt and was pretty delicious. The main which was a chicken handi was probably the next dish we tried. The rice was so perfectly cooked and super flavourful. My husband finished the chicken in a few mins as it was so tender and juicy, just falling off the bones. We also tried the foul, refried spicy beans with fresh bread and it was very tasty! For dessert we tried a pistachio cream cake and it was just creamy and perfect. Would love to come back and try some more of the amazing items they have in their menu. read more

Walked into the restaurant one afternoon. When it was my turn ordered the whole chicken mandi. I expected to wait around 20 mins so when the guy said it'll be 5 mins I was happy as I had people waiting in the car. 10 mins after walking in I walked out with my order. We ate the food shortly after and let me just tell you it was delicious. The flavours were on point and the chicken was so tender it basically came apart with a spoon. No knives needed. They opened up a larger and more updated restaurant and now they have plenty of space for eating in. The tables are socially distant and the staff was fully masked when we went. We ordered lamb and chicken mandi, which came with half a chicken, 3 good sized pieces of lamb, a couple sides of the tomato sauce, fried onions, raisins, and almonds, and a VERY large serving of fluffy spiced rice. The chicken was a bit dry, but flavorful. The lamb melted in my mouth, and the rice was delicious with the almonds and raisins. We also got the beef qolaba, which was actually my favorite dish we ordered, it had tomatoes and onions, strong flavors of cumin, and a good kick. Paired with the flatbread, it was amazing. found this place on Instagram and happened to be in the area during a recent visit to Toronto. We had the fasooliya (kidney beans), shafoot and 2 kinds of qalaba (lamb, mince meat), and fatah tamar. Everything was fresh and extremely flavorful. The bread and rice could have been a meal in itself As they were both so tasty. I would love to return and try the mandi...it seemed to be the most popular dish but we didn't want too heavy of a meal. The quality and freshness of the food at this restaurant rivals the best Yemeni food which I've eaten in homes and at the best restaurants in Yemen...highly recommend! read more

Went here for lunch and was just amazed by how beautiful it is from inside. The interior decoration is amazing! We had to go up to order Ans unfortunately there were limited options that were shown on the menu. They did have the traditional yemini dish, which is the MANDI. I tried the lamb and and chicken for $34.95, it came with a sauce on the side. I must say the rice was amazing, the lamb and the chicken was good but not juicy. It was still good but it could have been better had they maybe used better quality meat or was cooked properly so it would not have been so dry. Another thing, you have to serve urself for water and plates ( paper plates and plastic cutlery). For such a fancy looking restaurant it was strange they don't have service. The dessert I don't remember the name was okay, and so was the cardamom tea. It was too strong and just had very spicey taste to it. My first time trying Yemeni food and I was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious. The mandi is spectacular with a very flavorful hint of spices that complements the meat nicely. The beef qolabat was a little on the greasy side and could use more spice. Homemade bread was very fresh however and plentiful. One order can easily feed 2-3 people. I wish the menu wasn't so limited. Would love more options including some dips or salads or anything not meat to balance the meal. I suspect the menu will expand over time.
