So I visited here once years ago when I didn't live in this area. I had to come back and visit since I'm in the local neighborhood not to far like 1.6 miles away. The first time I visited it might have been late in the evening not early in the morning at the time so I really don't remember what I got at the time and how good it was. I stopped by a couple of times during a recent trip to Decatur and was pleased overall. The chocolate frosted raised donuts were light as you'd expect for a regular donut, the frosting a little on the sweet side and the frosting could use more chocolate. Beware as the frosting tends to crumble and fall off when you take a bite. The strawberry cheese croissant was disappointing, the strawberry seemed to be a mass produced strawberry flavored jelly of poor quality and no identifiable strawberry flavor. The pastry was delicate, but its features were overpowered by the disappointing flavor. The cheese filling wasn't much better. After a couple of bites, I tossed the rest of the croissant. read more

I wanted more.. after warming then for 15 seconds in the microwave that's in the lobby, they melted in my mouth like cotton candy. perfectly balanced not too sweet.. We went to Ray's Donuts at 11:45 am on a Monday. They had most of the donuts available, but they were running out - even on a Monday! So get there early! The person working was so sweet and patient! We ordered a half dozen, but she gave us one for free! She was wearing a mask, but masks are not required for customers. It's SO cheap! We got 6 donuts (plus the one for free) for $6.47! Here's what we got, in order of preference: - Cinnamon Sugar: Soo good. Perfection. - Blueberry Fritter: Very good!! - Glazed: Quality original donut! - Sour Cream: The one we got might've been a little overdone, burnt even, but I still liked the taste of it! - Boston Cream: The filling was good and I normally don't like filled donuts that much. - Chocolate Sprinkle: I didn't like the chocolate icing on top. Wouldn't recommend. - Strawberry Cake: Tasted very processed. Wouldn't recommend. Maybe the Blueberry Cake might've been better, but we didn't want to get two blueberry donuts. I loved this place! They had a great amount of donuts everything smells very fresh, granted I did go in the morning so I would hope it smells very fresh. There is only one woman working there but luckily it wasn't busy. This place had Thai iced tea which I was very excited about, And I could alter the amount of sugar I wanted in it and usually when I drink Thai iced tea they tell me that I can't so this makes me give it a five star rating because I never had a chance to do that anywhere else except here. I had a red velvet doughnut which was great. Coffee was from coffee pot which is also hot and fresh. They had filled donuts but you're also a really really good. I just ate the best donut I've ever had! I'm having a maple bacon, and the toppings are great, but the donut itself melts in my mouth. I'm a donut fiend, and when I tell you these donuts are amazing, you can take it to the bank! The selection is very good, not incredibly extensive, but definitely something for everyone. Lots of cake donuts, plenty of yeast donuts. Besides the maple bacon, we also got strawberry cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake, apple fritter, Boston cream, vanilla cream, red velvet cake, and chocolate cake. Customer service: I love how every time I come here I am always greeted with a smile and a positive attitude. If I could give them 10 stars for the customer service I definitely would. They are more than helpful when I ask questions and they always have a smile on their faces and it is a pleasure just to visit here. Donuts/pastries: Today I had a blueberry muffin and a man with a blueberry muffin good moist. All the donuts I've ever purchased from here we're good. There was only one donut I didn't care for and that was a donut that had fruity pebbles on it and the fruity pebbles were stale. Breakfast: The first time I came here I ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant. I expected to wait about five minutes for it. The doughnuts here are delicious! I've been wanting to stop in for a while and finally got a chance while heading in to work. It's located in South DeKalb county not too far from downtown Decatur. There's plenty of free parking available. I was surprised to see that the store was empty when I went around 8:30 am. A lady greeted me immediately and offered assistance. They have a nice variety of doughnuts and some breakfast sandwiches. I opted for sour cream & blueberry cake doughnuts. Both were delicious and very fresh. The price was a little over $2. Stopped here on a fluke after looking on yelp for a good donut place. It may not look like much on the outside but the donuts are hands down the best I've ever had. Their cake donuts were light and moist and I swear there's a hint of cardamom in the plain one. I also tried their glazed (melts in your mouth and has the perfect amount of sweet) ,strawberry cake, strawberry cheese filled and the maple bacon. Amazing donuts and service! I have never tasted more fresh donuts in my entire life, and I have led a life full of donut eating, just ask the elastic in my eating pants. It seems to be family owned and run, and anyone who has served me there has been nothing but pleasant and helpful. They always throw in a few extra donut holes into my order, much to the chagrin of my previously mentioned eating pants. They're quick and efficient; even with a line up, they're quick to process everyone's order and keep the line moving. You could tell that they used real blueberries, & the flavor came through . The sour cream was a little burnt & didn't taste as moist like some I've had, but it was still decent. Oh my god. These donuts are amazing. I think I might like them more than Sweet Apple Donuts and Sara Donuts. Ray's Donuts is a Vietnamese-owned mom & pop donut shop. I believe they have expanded and now have several locations all over Georgia. This is their 4th location. My bf and I opted to go to this location because it closes at 6pm. We got there between 1pm and 2pm and they still had a large variety to choose from. We ordered a dozen donuts. Some of the ones I remember are red velvet, chocolate glazed, apple fritter, sugar donut, fruity pebbles donut, blueberry, strawberry shortcake, and buttermilk donut. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of the donuts here. The cake donuts are so pillowy and moist. The yeast donuts are delicious too but don't hold up as well after a day, whereas the cake donuts are still the same consistency the next day. I especially loved the red velvet donut, apple fritter, and the buttermilk donut. My bf and I tried the buttermilk donut and our eyes almost popped out of our heads. It was rich, decadent, delicious, and almost savory - very unique in my opinion. You should definitely get it. Service was great. They are so nice here! Can't beat the prices either. read more
