    French Toast

We loved everything here! It's a nice big restaurant so we were able to be seated quickly on a Sunday for brunch. Austin was our server and he did a great job. He was very patient answering many questions about the menu. My mom has a lot of food sensitivities so she has to be very specific about what she eats. Hands down the best thing on the table was my shrimp and grits! The shrimp had just the right amount of Cajun seasoning, the grits were smooth and cheesy, the vegan sausage was nice and savory, and I loved the little grilled piece of focaccia bread. My fiancé loved the Kirkwood Breakfast. Especially the lavender biscuit and the preserves that went with it. He was also a huge fan of the honey bacon. My mom also got the Kirkwood breakfast, but she opted to get the eggs without the boursin cheese because of her food issues. My niece's boyfriend got the challa French toast and WOW it was a sight to see! Huge fluffy piece of French toast, topped with fresh berries, and a ricotta cheese blend. He seemed quite happy with it, although it was a little on the fence with the texture of ricotta, I'm thinking he probably hasn't had that before so I didn't know it was kind of like a cottage cheese texture. I got a lavender infused lemonade, nonalcoholic drink from the bar, and it was an absolute delight! I was surprised when they only charged me $4 for it, I felt like that was a great price for a delicious drink. My only constructive criticism to them would be to let people know that they add a 20% gratuity to every check. I don't mind paying that and honestly usually tip more but I do appreciate when a server will at least circle that on the check or let you know verbally .

Espresso martini = $14. French toast = $15. Total bill without additional tip = $37.91 Wait what how? oh it's because y'all add a service charge?? Okay, yeah totally get it cuz you have to pay the bills. Wait, but we're a regular 4 person party...oh it's added on regardless? Okay service must be impeccable then. Just kidding. y'all didn't refill our waters, so we just sat outside in the heat, and nobody came to check in on us. The espresso martini was delicious as well as the French toast though!

I go here every time I visit Atlanta! Staff is very friendly. The fried green tomatoes are delicious and I'm usually a tomato-hater! The lavender biscuits are also great :)

Great food for a reasonable price. I always enjoy coming here and grabbing a bite to eat. I usually find street parking not too far from the restaurant. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a delicious, simple breakfast at a place that isn't too loud to talk and catch up. I enjoy sitting outside when the weather is nice!

Sun in My Belly is a cute little brunch and pastry shop. I've been a couple times, and the food has been great each time. The parking situation is kind of odd, there's limited street parking options on a residential street nearby. I recently tried the avocado toast, and it was very tasty and the portion was quite bigger than I expected since it is listed under an appetizer. I've also tried their shrimp and grits which was veryy yummy and filling--portion was a very nice and big size! I also loved their french toast with berries, I definitely would order that again!!!! The service is generally good, not much complaints from me, though the person I went with wished they checked on us a bit more frequently. Overall, I enjoyed all my visits here and would come again, especially for the french toast.

Stopped by for Saturday brunch with a group. I appreciate groups are tough, especially when the restaurant doesn't seem to have reservations but we did struggle a bit despite reaching out twice in advance to give notice. Like other reviewers have shared service can be slow. That being said everyone who worked there was very friendly, and the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere that can be hard to find in the Atlanta brunch scene. Our group enjoyed fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, egg sandwich, the hash and more. They have mimosas or champagne by the bottle which we had with passion fruit juice and orange juice. Street parking available.

Maybe it's me......maybe I'm the problem. Anytime I search Brunch/Breakfast Restaurants. 'Sun in my Belly' is always recommended. I have tried them before, and I wasn't too impressed so I decided to give them another try. Unfortunately results remained the same. The food was okay, the service was also just okay. To me there are better brunch restaurants. I may come back? Maybe.

    Kirkwood Breakfast, grilled chicken sandwich

Husband and I went for breakfast/brunch on a recent Sunday. The restaurant was busy but there wasn't a wait; we were seated promptly at a table next to exterior doors that didn't close completely. Watch your step...I tripped walking through one area to the next as the floor is uneven between the spaces. It was hot and humid and there were flies, the chairs had crumbs on them that we had to brush off ourselves before sitting down. Our server was nice enough and mostly attentive enough even though our glasses were empty a couple of times. Husband ordered the chicken sandwich on focaccia with hash potatoes. It was clearly one of those low quality frozen chicken cutlets that barely made any contact with the grill. The focaccia was dry and cracking. The potatoes had no color, just oil. I ordered the Kirkwood breakfast with the glazed bacon (flaccid) and added a bagel with cream cheese. The scrambled eggs were fine but nothing better than what you can get at a Waffle House. The bagel arrived to the table toasted with one of those individual packages of Philadelphia reduced fat "cream cheese." I felt like I was at one of those 2 star hotels that include a low quality, bare bones breakfast. Is anything actually made here? It seems like they just heat up things that the Sysco truck drops off frozen. I am wondering what skills the kitchen staff possess? There is a 20% mandatory gratuity, which I found gratuitous. I don't mind this on principle, but I expected a better experience that would warrant a service fee this steep. And, my god, I can't think of a dumber name for a restaurant.

Fried Green Tomatoes, Scrambled Egg Panini, and Kirkwood Breakfast

Sun in My Belly is a cute little spot for brunch. The space is not that large inside and it can get busy during peak hours. I got the Scrambled Egg Panini with Hashed Potatoes on the side. I thought that the panini was good, but not amazing. The potatoes were also not seasoned enough for me. However, I really loved the Fried Green Tomatoes as it was topped with pimento cheese and smoked paprika, which really added to the flavor! I would come back here and try other options on their brunch menu.

It had been a while since our last visit to Sun in My Belly, so we recently decided to stop by again for a quick and simple breakfast. We both ordered the Kirkwood breakfast with chicken sausage. Instead of the Boursin cheese it typically comes with, we substituted for cheddar. It took a while for us to actually have the opportunity to place our order, even though it wasn't busy at all since we'd gotten there a few minutes after they'd opened. But once we ordered, the food didn't take long to arrive and we enjoyed it. The fact that it was nice and quiet was a plus. We also grabbed cake pops for our nieces in the bakery section like we usually do, which they always love. We don't come here often, but it's always pretty solid when we do.

We had to make a decision quickly when we were pivoting, and when we came across the great reviews and photos of the food. we didn't think twice about checking to see if we could make it happen. When we arrived, the staff was already preparing our table, so we only had to wait a few minutes before being seated. The space is pretty tight, and you're going to be close to the tables near you, but we were able to sit comfortably. Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders, and afterward she came back to answer any questions. Most of the food was ready at the same time. We appreciated that it came out as it was ready and wasn't left sitting. And everyone enjoyed the food! The only "complaint" one of my friends had was that she thought there was a little too much sauce in her shrimp and grits dish. She felt that the sauce, while it tasted great, overpowered the dish and she would've liked to taste more of the grits flavor. All in all, I'd say we'll likely be back to try something else on the menu.

That said, the aesthetic feels less Buckingham Palace and more whimsical London antique shop -- charming & eclectic. I ordered the blueberry lavender matcha and a breakfast plate. The menu names were definitely on brand, but not quite catchy enough for me to remember them later. Both were solid, though, and hit the spot. Service was a highlight. The cashier really leaned into the accent and took the time to thoroughly explain the menu, which made the whole experience feel more immersive and welcoming. Parking was easy on an early weekday afternoon -- always a win. The space works well for small parties, but be prepared: tables are small and seating is close together. One tip: avoid sitting upstairs in Eden. It's noticeably warmer than the rest of the restaurant, and you'll likely leave smelling like breakfast. Overall, a fun, themed spot with great service. But I don't think I'll be back.

Typically I research and take a peek at the menu, photos, etc. but I didn't this time. Peters Street has ample street parking and a few lots for a fee. Just check the signs before you leave your car. The entry is unassuming because there's so many little places on this street but once you enter you're in another time! The medieval theme is super cool - a Barron greeted us at the door. Seating is casual - find a spot to sit and then order from the digital menu at the door. Orders are taken at the counter but entrees and drinks are brought to your table. The owner Josh was extremely accommodating! He gave us some tastings of coffee, tea and the French toast. 10/10! I personally ordered the Blueberry Matcha and a Bowl (done keto). Everyone's meal looked amazing and not a crumb was left. We left with some of the canned whiskey drinks - Strawberry Whiskey Sour and Kentucky Mule made with bourbon. Josh said best enjoyed mixed together! The photo opps, food, drinks and aesthetics are so good here. Only comment is that the tables are pub or cafe style and best for small groups or just takeover a section like we did. Enjoy!

One thing I really loved was the photo booth outside in the parking garage--it was such a fun touch and made the visit even more memorable. The only downside was the parking. Unless you're lucky enough to find street parking, you'll have to park in the garage, which wasn't my favorite. Other than that, everything was great. SUPER unimpressed with my visit here…read more Based on the decor, especially the photo area in the parking deck and the fake flower arch outside, my first impression was that this was going to be a "TikTok trap": a restaurant focused more on aesthetics than food or service. Unfortunately, that impression ended up being accurate. It took forever for our food to come out. The parties around us were clearly frustrated as well. I watched one table become visibly irritated, while another guest stopped a server to ask if the food being carried out was theirs because they had apparently been waiting over an hour. As the wait dragged on, I started paying closer attention to the decor, which I personally found tacky and gimmicky, especially the fake greenery hanging across the ceiling. The fried green tomatoes and sweet heat wings were really good, and I started to rethink my initial assessment of the restaurant. Everything went downhill from there. My "Rich Boy" sandwich itself was good, but it came with completely unseasoned fries. When I mentioned that I was supposed to have the "Rolex" fries, the server told me the plain fries were what I got. After clarifying with another server, they brought out the actual "Rolex" fries, which appeared to just be fries with a little parmesan and parsley on top. Supposedly they were truffle fries, but there wasn't even a hint of truffle flavor. My partner ordered the veggie sausage, which was overcooked and dry. Their eggs came out over easy instead of over medium, and the "signature grits" were more like cream cheese with a little bit of grits mixed in. We were told more grits would be brought out, but they never came. Another person in my party ordered the Southern seafood pasta, which had literally one piece of spinach in it. When she asked about it, the server responded that there was "more spinach coming." At that point, it became clear that Barney's is selling the illusion of luxury in order to justify premium prices for subpar food and service. It really was a TikTok trap after all. To make matters worse, when the check came, we were charged an additional $1.50 for eggs that already came with the meal. The explanation was that the eggs "came from the shell." Others in my party were also charged extra for liquor on top of the listed menu price for their drinks. Overall, I absolutely did not enjoy my experience here, and I will not be returning. Oh, and that other party that was visibly irritated with the wait had to wait even longer because there was a hair in their food.
