I put items back that I wanted because while I have a rays discount card I could not get the ap to download on my phone and no one there would help with that so that I could access the special that I came in for. I will drive to newport and shop at Walmart rather than get jerked around by rays. read more

Rays should be called "Ridiculous Ripoff Rays", seriously do yourself a favor if your planning on doing some grocery shopping do not do it here, "Unless you love to throw your money away".Drive 30 minutes into Newport to Walmart, these guys are gouging the crap not only of the tourists but the locals as well. I'll give some examples: 6 packs of rogue beer (local beer company) $14, in California $9.99 Nathan's Hot dogs 5 Count $8 Small Mayo $6 Umpqua Ice Cream $8 You get the idea, expect to pay 2-3 and sometimes 4 times more for something . Definitely,stuck on COVID gouging pricing model. When the recession hits within the next year ,you'll see these prices forced to drop like a brick. It's a nice handy store for last minute stuff,but definitely not a place to shop smart and make your $$$ stretch ,we spent $136 for some hot dog buns,hot dogs, a six pack of rogue beer, ketchup,mayo, avocado, 2 lemons,2 yerba mate teas, loaf of bread ,bananas,local ground sausage,1 dozen eggs, 2 tomatoes, 1 pack 7oz u cured black forest ham,1 garlic clove, 2 artichoke bunches, 1 small nail clipper ( that was reasonably priced $2.59), local Umpqua ice cream ,1 red onion, 1 artisan soap,that's all folks! You get the idea,yeah I can go anywhere I want ,but it was raining as usual and didnt feelike driving and hour round trip and paid the convenience store pricing. Ray's is a gap filler for Waldport and surrounding area... The price of goods at Ray's is high.... At this point in time if you were to take the already high cost of groceries and add another 30% to cost it would be close... The produce department is especially reflective of this and the quality and selection is below par! I view Rays as an emergency need stop... Newports stores are high but Rays makes em look like a bargain... The Store is merchandised fairly well... depth of product is okay... front of store inside is cluttered and needs help... The customer service area is seldom staffed and it's difficult to get help in this arena!! I think a large part of the high costs are tourism driven due to the areas sights and surroundings... They do have a deli, not a bad selection but again very $$$$! Clerks are mostly friendly and engaging, public bathrooms for shoppers are ok... Parking can be tough and there are no cart kiosks outside.... read more

The market is OK, but BEWARE the pre prepared sandwiches at the deli, they are overpriced and horrible. I paid eight BUCKS for mine, went crabbing with my boy -- we were really looking forward to our bayside picnic. When we opened the sandwich it was mostly bread, no mayo or condiments of ANY kind, one --and I mean one--exceptionally thin and dry roast beef, and one very thin and withered slice of tired cardboard tomato. "Dad, I really hate it when the promise of a sandwich is ruined because it's all just nowhere bread," my boy said in a sad, tired voice. I couldn't help but agree. We had a good time despite our disappointment, but both came to the agreement that Rays in Waldport truly sucks :( read more

After years of hearing people call this place "Rip Off Ray's" I was actually surprised the prices weren't worse. I think it's nice to at least have this in town to grab some simple things. We just stopped in to get some small things to have around during our stay like bananas, eggs, juice, some snacks etc. The price wasn't *TOO* outrageous in the end, but if I were planning to go full on grocery shopping, I'd too probably drive somewhere else that might have better deals. It's clean and well organized though, and we were able to find everything we intended to buy and more. Average quality. Prices are absurdly high. $1 lemons, $2.50 for a bottle of tonic that is 99 cents elsewhere. It's why we shop in Newport. Crazy prices! They have been bankrupt once and closed stores that had local competition. Only a matter of time until the rest of the chain closes. this store is very bare bones and not very good which is surprising in this town that has some good restaurants and coffee. the Guy working the cash register today was a jerk. I guess it's probably because my husband was Mexican that he was a jerk to him. My husband had bought some Popsicles and had bought one of those coolers made of Styrofoam and he had put the Popsicles in the cooler and went to check out . check out guy was having an awkward time dealing with them so my husband tried to help him and reached out to help place them in the right place and the guy said cool it you're going to get your Popsicles like my husband was a jerk or something. I just thought why do you act that way. In addition to the check out guy being an older white guy and my husband being a Mexican guy iI wondered if it was because the guy wasn't wearing a mask and my husband was wearing a mask. Is this one of those right wing white guy places where they're going to act like an ass to you if you're wearing a mask or you're from somewhere else or you're not white? that's one set of questions the other is why is this very sad grocery store with a rude check out guy the only one in town? read more

Don't go there if you expect to be safe from Covid. They have at least 3 employees/checkers running around with inadequate face shields instead of masks. Face shields don't contain airborne viruses. And at least one of them is not vaccinated, because I heard him say he was going to get a job with a smaller company so he wouldn't have to comply with vaccine requirements. If he wants to take his chances with this virus that is up to him, but he puts others at risk by not wearing a mask, and obviously his managers don't care about our health. So I guess it's Newport or grocery pickup for me, since my husband is at very high risk. On the positive side, up to now I have been impressed with the helpful attitude of the employees, but the lax enforcement of the mask policy was a game changer for me. read more

This is the only grocery store in town so their prices reflect the lack of competition. On the other side of that though they do have sales that balance the higher prices at times. They are a small chain as Yachats has one as well, though also a lot smaller version of this store. There is some good variety at this store and I've been able to find some unusual grocery items as well. I also like their decent wine selection and even found a really nice Pinot on their shelf. Customer service is a mixed bag sometimes but that's all about the cashiers attitudes. I've not really had any issues that made it unpleasant to shop there nonetheless. read more

I really don't like to write bad reviews, but something at Ray's has been bothering me for years. The quantity of expired / out of date food on the shelves and in the refrigerated is troubling. I shop Rays frequently, out of necessity, and every time I encounter expired items. I have learned to check very carefully. More than once I was told "We forgot to date them but they are fresh" when I couldn't find an expiration date. There is no way to know for sure how long those items have been there and with meat or fish it's not worth the risk to purchase. I work around the problem because I have to shop there, but the store serves a large geriatric population and my fear is that some of those folks end up with old food because they don't check dates carefully. I understand that we are all human and that we all make mistakes, but this is a recurring problem and that is the only reason I bring it up. I will continue to shop at Ray's but I hope for improvement in this area. read more

Decent small town grocery store. Old school for sure! It smells and looks like an old Eagle Foods. They have a decent selection for a all town grocer. I'd like to recommend a larger offering of organic foods as my family has a vacation home nearby and we will be shopping here whenever in town. Great store to go get the necessities. read more

Great store if staying in WALDPORT. Full deli and bakery. Got 5 lbs of live clams for dinner one night - they were fabulous and fresh. Fried chicken from deli was nice and crispy too. Convenient location; lots of products and generous wine and beer selection. A good find! read more

They have a good selection of products, and the store looks clean and well-organized. Prices are higher than at my hometown grocery, but not nearly the price gouging at the grocery store down the road in Yachats. Most of their "fresh" seafood was imported from other countries, and I didn't see anything that was labeled local. read more

Me, my friend, and my friends dad were in the store a couple weeks ago just doing some regular shopping, and while I was in a different aisle, Sherri (an employee) walked up to the both of them and asked who my friends mom was. My friend replied, and she immediately told them to get out of the store. I saw them walking out, and they gave me their EBT card and asked for me to get the rest of the groceries while they waited for me in the car. As I was about to get the rest of the groceries, Sherri walked up to me and said "nope nope you get out too if you're with _____ daughter." I said "can I ask why?" To which she replied no multiple times. I was very nice and cooperative, but she was just completely rude. I've also had some other issues with employees here and them just being rude. TODAY I was checking out, and as I walked up to the cashier person I said hello (like any nice normal human being would do) and he didn't reply. I then said hello again a bit louder because I thought maybe he couldn't hear me, still no reply. When all of your groceries get checked out, the person at the register would usually tell you how much money all of it is, but he didn't. He stared at me and waited for me to give him my money without saying a word. He then, didn't hand me my money, but slapped it on the counter for me to pick up no words being said. I don't remember his name, but in conclusion the employees here suck ass! read more

Holy shit if I had a shop here for my family I would not be happy. I've been to plenty of small towns across America and this store needs help. I felt like I stepped back in time 30 years. The store looked dirty including the floor and overall appearance. Oh and don't go here looking for vanilla Tillamook ice cream as they were out. Now what am going put on my apple pie? The people at the check-out are friendly and helpful. Their prices are higher than their competitors in Newport usually. My biggest gripe is that when I have a couple of items and I'm behind someone with a large cart full of groceries, the folks at the checkout will announce they're open. What usually happens is that the people who are at the end of the line and have been waiting for less time end up getting there first. I'm not usually in a hurry, but sometimes I am. At Fred Meyer and Safeway they pull my cart over to the new checkout so that I am rightfully there first if I'm the next one in line, which is why I do the majority of my shopping at Freddy's and Safeway. It's a little thing maybe, but it shows that other places have better customer service policies. read more

This is the big grocery store in Waldport. Highlights include a full-service bakery, deli counter and large produce and meat sections. We were only here for a bottle of water, but I could already tell this is where the locals shops. Tourists should shop here too, although their C&K Market on Hwy. 101 does seem to have the same grocery prices. read more

Not a huge store but they are there with essentials and a smile! The meat department had some fantastic deals on the yummiest Italian Chicken olive Sausage. Dang is it delish! I liked this store a lot. The prices seemed good to me, but I live in CA so whenever I'm in Oregon, the no sales tax makes me think everything is very reasonable because I usually factor in tax automatically at home. I found the cashier was less than friendly with me the two times I went there. Don't believe he even said hello, just started checking and gave me the total and barely made eye-contact. Kind of rude...and I'm from LA so I know rude. That's why they didn't get a better rating from me. I did however find the deli staff to be so pleasant and helpful, which is why they didn't get a worse rating from me. We stopped for a few groceries to cook at our vacation rental house and what a frustrating experience. I couldn't find a item and there was no help around to ask. Not impressed. This place was poorly organized and quite cramped. I saw a worker climbing all over the shelves. A lot of the packaging was damaged, and I found moldy tomatoes for sale. It got the job done, and had several local brands, but if I lived here I would find a different store. read more
