We went there on a Thursday night. Restaurant about 80% full. Stood for five minutes in the front, before we flagged down a waitperson and asked if we could be seated-. Waiter came about 15 minutes later and we ordered. Bread arrived after another 10 minutes. We shared a salad, which was soaked in dressing (our fault since we did not ask for it to be on the side) Took another 35-40 minutes before our entrees arrived (Fettucini with Veggies- which was very good) and had huge portions (only ate about 1/2. Usually eat at manny's but felt like trying this place. I love eggplant but wanted to treat myself today so I went with veal. The pasta was good. Just past al dente, which is preferred. Food is kinda tasteless. "Butter sauce" needed something, like flavor. The mushrooms had some mystery sauce that taste like some Chief boyardee was pored over it.... not that impressed, must serve slot of outta towners that have not idea what's in Odessa. My family and I have been going to Rays since we moved to this area two years ago. The food is excellent, my favorite is the veal. The Caprise is outstanding and the bread is the best. You get to bring your own wine which really makes the evening affordable. This is one of the best restaurants in the Permian Basin. read more

Ray's is a super cute little dine-in restaurant. It's BYOB, so that earns a star all by itself. They recently changed up the bread and dipping sauce and it's a great improvement. Everything I've had here is bomb, but especially the veal dishes. I've also heard great things about the spinach ravioli, so I will be trying that next. read more

We visited Rays for the first time Friday night. The service was good and my husband had the baked a avocado and said it was great. I had the manicotti and the noodles and filling were good but the red sauce was watery and runny. It was packed so they must be doing something right. read more

Best Italian I have had in years. Escargot and stuffed avocado were incredible. Plus could not stop eating his bread. Entrees were large and very well done. Veal Jerusalem and tute mare were excellent. Only challenge was service was a little slow and didn't know it was a byob. read more

1st you need a reservation but they will try to set you without. I've tried it twice. Had an appetizer and pasta dish 1st go around and it was ok. Kind of bland but not terrible. 2nd time had pizza and salad 2 large 1 small pizzas and salads 70$ and not great, salad was warmer then the pizza. Busy but we did get sat quickly. Might need to make a reservation if you go, especially on a Friday night. Everything was timely, bread was yummy, and our food was delicious. I ordered tortellini marinara and it was good. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars was our waitress, she never came to our table. We sat by the hostess stand so when we received our check, the hostess was the one who cashed it because our waitress never came back. Each experience I've had with Rays food has been very good. However, I placed a Togo order for delivery and it took nearly 3 hours for my food to be delivered because Rays decided to just not make Togo orders after having taken payment because they were short handed. This has always been my favorite place in town but I had a really bad experience today. I arrived shortly after they opened so was the only customer. I was seated right away but waited a few minutes for someone to come take my order (nobody had taken my drink order yet). Of course, he took awhile to help me because he and other employees were gossiping about other employees and the boss. I asked for water and placed my order for lunch. Someone else brought bread but still not water. I finally had to ask someone else if I could please have some water. The waiter was still too busy gossiping about his co-workers and boss. When my spaghetti arrived, it was hard to find any spaghetti. I had meat sauce soup on my plate with very little spaghetti. I was finished with what I could eat before someone finally came to refill my water. All of this would be understandable if they were busy but I was the ONLY person there! The conversations taking place were very unprofessional to have in front of customers! Because it's been my favorite restaurant in town, I will visit again but, if this is the level of service they are now providing, that may be my last visit. read more
