Ray's Quality Meats has been serving this community for fifty years, which is an accomplishment for any business, but with the quality of the food and the friendly, attentive and professional service this staff offers its customers, it is easy to see why Ray's has succeeded and makes you wish them success for another fifty years. It is a small shop and gives a cluttered feel. The one cash register just adds to the claustrophobic feel, kind of thrown in the center of a small room. Prices are either competitive or high, but to be fair, the quality of the meat is definitely there and they make their own sausages and grind their own ground beef in house. In a corner, kind of obscured by shadows is their deli where you can get your cold cuts or have a sandwich made for you. They also have pre-made dinners for you to bring home. They also offer sauces and spices. Some of the spices also bear the name of Ray's Quality Meats. They either make them themselves (or just private label them). I also commend them on their longevity especially considering they ate on Route 1 in a part of Ormond Beach where many of the businesses stay closed with the exception of Bike Week and Biketoberfest. The rest of the year it is more akin to a ghost town than a community. Fifty years is a long time to be in business. But with a quality product served in a friendly and professional manner, it is not only easy to see why Ray's Quality Meats has been around so long, but you find yourself cheering for them to last another fifty years or better. read more

The food is absolutely amazing,delicious, fresh, hand Made sausage,100-% certified angus beef. NEVER FROZEN from the packing house straight to them, when I walk in there it's kind of hard to make a decision on just one thing and the butcher Tom tied me a bone in rib-eye roast in about 30 seconds. As we all watched in amazement this 6"2 ish New Yorker cut a fresh whole chicken into quarters in no time . The service was second to none and the one employee I never saw there b4 walked from behind the counter and personally handed me my whole order and thanked me !!!!!! Great spot with quality meat and decent prices! I ordered a pork belly several days ahead of when I needed it. When I ordered it I was given a pickup date by a young lady on the phone. I stopped in on my home from work on the coerrect date and it wasn't ready. I was worried because you need a few days of salting, etc to get it ready. We have supported Ray's for more than 45 years, having the pleasure of dealing with both the father and son before their retirement and sale of this very successful business. I'm very reluctant to say that our Christmas filet mignons this year brought total disappointment under the new owner's tenure. Sparing the details, two guests got sick within hours of eating just a single bite. Bad steaks (not cheap) for sure and knew it as soon as cutting into them. Management would only replace them with 3 more (smaller sized). Disappointed to say the least. Won't be eating steak for quite some time and never again from Ray's. We moved from Melbourne where we had an outstanding butcher with the highest quality meat at an equally high price. That's okay, you get what you pay for, well sometimes. We stopped at Ray's as some say it's the best in the area. That doesn't speak well of Ormand Beach. Ray's had an unclean atmosphere right from the get-go, but we checked out the meat. What we found was not the marbled steaks and prime cuts a a superior butcher. What we did find were cuts turning gray right in the display case. We walked out never to return. read more

Made a 30 minute drive to shop here. Pulled into the market at 4:28 on a Saturday. Three people were smoking cigarettes outside the door and quickly flipped the 'Closed' sign. Really?? The website, Yelp listing, and sign on the door states 5:00. Can't say I will make the effort to shop here again. read more

Sigh. One can't find prime beef in Flagler County except here. This place looks like an old dive bar. Grabbed an Italian sandwich and two sides. Unfortunately Publix has better sandwiches and is cheaper and closer. For a one pound boneless New York/strip steak and it was $24.98/lb. This same steak is $18.99/lb in California. Overpriced, awful customer service & sold me brisket with more fat than meat. never Again

I left room to increase my stars after future visits but this place is a gem. Really nice on the phone and accommodating in the store. We ordered a container or Manicotti and one of Ravioli for Sunday dinner. The dough on both was outstanding! Far better than the frozen ones we have to buy most times. The ravioli were perfect, the manicotti were good but the filling was a bit runny for my liking. We like my wife's sauce but this sauce was pretty good. Coming from my household that is high praise. I would like to try ordering both without sauce in the future but I suspect that will need to be special ordered. Ray's is highly recommended for anyone wanting better than your typical restaurant red lead and Ravioli. I'll be trying more things next time we're in town. read more

Decided to give him another try under new management. Meat is extremely expensive compared to shopping at local grocery stores. Nothing special about their steaks. My wife and I have been customers of Ray's for over 6 years now but, as others have said, it has suffered greatly under the new management. NO Mask Requirement (or even a recommendation), the staff (especially the men, including the manager) are very rude, and the prices are higher. The quality is still somewhat good, otherwise I would give them zero stars. Just today my wife was in to buy 10 large cube steaks, as she has done many times in the past, but they only had 3 small ones in the case. She asked if they could prepare 10 large steaks for her and the clerk was very 'put out' by the request. He didn't know how to run the tenderizing machine, so he asked the manager to do it. The manager also acted very annoyed. The manager prepared 8 steaks and then went into the back room. My wife asked the clerk for 2 more, so he attempted to tenderized them with a mallet, but the manager fixed the machine and was able to complete the order. If you're going to charge high prices, you should be able to afford to hire staff that is courteous and maintain a professional attitude with their customers. Under the new management this seems to be lacking. This place used to be SO good, it's a shame they don't care about losing longtime customers. read more

Very good variety of meats and chicken. Have purchased sirloin a few of times and it always great on the grill. Have had a number of sandwiches and lunch is here and I always plenty for lunch . I went and picked up these two beautifully marbled ribeyes today and grilled them up. The best steak I've ever had! My wife agreed hers was too. You won't find better quality meat anywhere around! We have been coming to Ray's from Palm Coast for over 6 years. New management has changed the vibe. We have been preordering our turkeys from Ray's for years also. They offered a us medium bird between 13-18 pounds. I asked them to make sure it was closer to 18 lbs and they said no problem. We got 12.... Very disappointed. Ray's Quality Meats is a small "pops" shop that provides the highest quality meats for their patrons. Everyone, who shops there regularly, knows this. After reading Mike S review, I called Gaff's Meats and I have some observations. 1. The filets that Mike S bought were $ 18.99 each not per pound. They were not prime, but chuck. So Mike S bought an inferior meat for $ 30.38 a pound. 2. Why would anyone walk into someone's establishment and complain about the price of something you are not even buying. It seems argumentative and senseless. 3. When you complain, Mike S, make sure you know what you are talking about. Price per pound and price per each are very different. Ray's Quality Meats does sell Prime filets and that is why he as been in business since 1971. The saying " The customer is always right" does not apply to you, sir. 4. As for the "fat" comment you made about the man with the mustache, that comment stressed how extremely negative your character is. My regrets to your friends and family. read more

This place used to be good but it is no longer. Way overpriced. When my order was taken they did not do the substitutions that I asked for I ended up spending $85 on a bag of meat that literally would've costed me maybe $40 at my local grocery store are used to go here once a month and get stocked up but now I'd rather go to Publix and get my moneys worth at least it's a shame because I really used to enjoy this place they messed up four things in my freezer package no one would answer the phone when I tried to ask about it completely ridiculous boycott rays quality meats I will definitely be telling all of my friends to do the same read more

I have been going for the Hot lunch for years now. Was 6.99 and great food and portions. Price is now 7.99 smaller portions and quality has dropped. Some days you will get someone that cares and fill your box but on any other days your lucky if the sides fill the small spot for them. Prices are ridiculous and they seem proud of it. You can find excellent prime filets and strip steaks at Sams at reasonable prices. Prime tenderloin/filets $14/lb, prime ribeyes $13/lb, prime strip steaks $12/lb. Prices may vary a buck or two from time to time but still a great buy. We stopped in the first time ever today looking for decent steaks. However, $30 a pound for sirloin and $36 for fillet? NY strips $30 and their little cheap cut that we buy for 4 each at Publix was $8.99 each. I've never seen such jacked up prices in my life. Filets are normally less than $20 a pound anywhere else. First, I sm always leary whever a business needs to use an adjective in their business name. But due to Jacksonville lacking a good butcher shop we decided to drive to Ormond beach (60miles). The exterior was a bit dirty, one could only hope the interior isnt. I went inside and went straight to the meat display. A man asked if he voukd help me, snd I asked where the meat is from. He looked at me funny, so I clarified by asking where the beef is raised. He replied in a smart tone "The West." Really... the west! I followed up with "pasture raised?" He said nope.
