This guy cannot fix or clean any leather shoe or bag !! I took in a couple prs of shoes to fix and couple of bags to clean each and every time no can do ! What the hell is he still doing in business ? The shoemakers from back in the day could work miracles , this guy cannot even attach shoelaces . Also a nasty rude disposition.his attitude and lack of knowledge is less to be desired . I had him punch new holes into purse straps and showed him how many and distance between holes that was even a chore as he got annoyed because it was more than one even though you pay for each hole punched in ! Never again , I will drive to a reputable shoemaker if there are any left or as the new world goes , just throw away and buy new like everyone has that kind of money ! I found this cobbler through the great reviews. I was paying double the cost to a shoe repair in Patchogue and he didn't do nearly as good of a job on my items. I've brought shoes for repair, old coach bags for cleaning, and a backpack for zipper repair. He warned me about the coach bags, because they were pretty dirty, that he would do the best he could. The only reason I am giving a one star review is because it that's the lowest I can go. This place is horrible customer service. I had heels replaced and after wearing them 3 times the heel replacement broke. I brought it back to Rays and the owner told me repairs are NOT guaranteed and wanted to charge me again!! When I tried to explain to him that I literally wore them 3 times in the 3 weeks I had them back he insisted I was arguing with him (which I was not) I told him I have been using this shoe repair for 25 years and never had a problem. Why would I have him try to repair it again, pay him AGAIN and NOT have the work guaranteed?!! This owner does not stand by his work!! Was not satisfied with the repair he did on my crossbody bag zipper. I did pay cash for the repair, however went back to see what the owner would do to fix the issue. He was RUDE and just kept repeating himself and talking over me. He told me in 30 years in business he has never had a complaint. He repeatedly told me that I was the first customer in 30 years to have a problem with his work. Yeah Ok Ray!!! Ray's does it again! Another fine job re-soling my boots. This time I asked for a harder Vibram rubber that would last longer on the streets than the original soft hiking sole (and ones which I also specified in their first replacement.) Well... They came back built as tough as can be! And the craftsmanship is top-notch, put together with great attention as not to damage these old favorites. Just to note... The Vibram's aren't exactly like the original Timberlands. They, the originals, had a more refined look having a thinner sole. But for a replacement? I truly believe it's the best you can get. In addition, I like to take the shine off the shoe polished rubber, and I like to get back the look of showing the leather layer in its profile. So achieving that took a little extra work on my part to lightly sand them to taste! read more

This gentleman is probably a cobbler. He's the real thing! I was happy to pay him for the work he did because the last guy said he couldn't do anything about my black boots. The boots are three to four years old and had a vertical white scratch along the leather and part of the heel. They now look new! He (Ray?) also has in stock navy polish, as well as that saddle brown color and many other shades. The last guy I took my shoes to used transparent polish and mixed it with black for my navy shoes and regular brown for my saddle brown shoes. Those shoes are now respectively closer to black than navy and a much different shade of brown than the original color, which I so prefer. Took a pair of boots in that got hot food dropped on the suede. Ray ( I assume ) was honest, told him it might come out perfect and told me how hard it is with suede, especially colored/dyed to clean. Which I knew that's why I didn't try myself. I paid $20 and waited a few days and although the boot shows some sign of damage, it's totally wearable and I'm happy with it :) I had Aldo previously taken hiking boots in to Ray for them to be stretched because one of my feet is wider than the other, and they came back to me perfect! read more

One of the best cobbler's I've ever used. Ray is honest, reasonably priced, and does excellent work. He saved 3 pairs of Via Spiga suede boots that I though were done for because I had worn the toes and soles down so much. They look amazing and I can definitely get a few more years out of then now. read more

I am absolutely pleased with the shoe repair job I received at Ray's. I had these really expensive italian shoes that had virtually no sole by design to give the shoe a very sleek, slender and classy look. Although it was a beautiful looking shoe, the construction of the shoe wasn't made for everyday use. After a couple of months the heel of the shoe started to wear significantly and I didn't want the heartbreak of tossing them so I took them to Ray's and he was fantastic. He really was patient and understood that I wanted to improve the durability of the shoe without changing the style. With new soles and some slight alterations the shoes looked better than when I first bought them. Although it was not cheap the quality surpasses the value of the work done on my shoes. I highly recommend this place to everyone seeking a shoe repair job or even a cleaning (polishing). read more

Every time has been a great experience - fast service, and my shoes always come back better than I could expect. I recently moved out of the area (30 mins away) and I still drive back to Ronkonkoma to get my repairs done here. I have been using them on and off for years. I brought in a pair of Birkenstock of my daughters that were trashed. When I went to pick them up they looked brand new. I brought in my LV Neverfull tote after accidentally ripping one of the decorative straps off on a door knob. I was anxious about the repairs but needed it fixed. I dropped the bag off and for a fair price they told me it would be ready in just a few days. When I picked up the bag and inspected it I couldn't even tell which of the two decorative straps had been repaired. They did such an excellent job. I would highly recommend this shop. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! The man at the counter was so rude and nasty. I just went in there with the shoes I am wearing for my wedding and naturally never having a pair of shoes stretched and also being that they are my wedding shoes I asked all of 5 questions. He wouldn't allow me to leave the box for the shoes meanwhile there's people shopping bags all over the floor. He ripped my ticket and says if ur not comfortable maybe u should've do this an he said that he didn't want me to leave my shoes bc I was a liability. Grabbed them and left.
