The man running this shop is not the original. He is rude and obnoxious. I went to pick up $160 worth of repairs for several shoes and intended to leave another pair to fix amounting to another $15. In examining my shoes, he tore off the soles insisting that the whole sole would have to be removed to be reglued. When I dropped off my bundle on Saturday, I also had a leather watch stitched for another $10. I was told to pick up my repairs the following Wednesday after completing a card that included name and phone number. I planned around the pick up day to be in the area of the shop. Not one pair of shoes had been repaired, no phone call to state that but the owner was rude and aggressive when I explained that I didn't want to run up and down the road burning gas on his schedule after he gave me the day to be there. His rudeness started with he was was running a business and his comments ignored my inconvenience. Two other customers came in; one commented to him that there was a tear on his boot that hadn't been there to which the owner was curt; another lady brought in a pair and questioned why he didn't take cards for payment in light of the fact that he requires 50% of the repair and wanted it in cash. They debated back and forth with the woman indicating the safety of not carrying cash and that everyone uses cards. He insisted that it would cost the customers to pay by card. I had already given him $80 for my 50%. When he became as rude as he was with a "you people" comment, I asked him what people; the people who are paying for a service that pays his rent and keeps his lights on. The bottom line is that I did get my unrepaired shoes and my $80 and left. I am in the market now for another repair shop. Could someone get the original owner back here from Florida? read more

Absolutely horrible. I used to come here all the time there was the sweetest man that would repair my shoes and he did an amazing job and had unbeatable prices. He is no longer there and there is some new CROOK who overcharges and does NOT repair shoes. He charged me $80 for my shoes to look EXACTLY THE SAME. Please see the pictures of what my shoes look like AFTER I got them for $80.... What a shame to see someone's hard work go down the drain and these people ruin that sweet man's legacy read more

Under new ownership. Roy retired. I'm so sad. I brought my shoes in to be stretched and was told they'd be ready Friday. Well they never stretched them (I didn't know till I tried them on). Paid money for no work. Funny thing is that I heard woman say you never did these?? I couldn't see so I had no idea that she was talking about my shoes. I bought shoe stretchers on Amazon because I'm afraid the next thing would be that they lose my shoes. Now a couple is in shop working together. I have to say I saw work they did on customer before me and the shoes looked great. I'm disappointed they lied to me and charged me for no work done. read more

Amazing! Before I went here, I went to another high star rated shoe repair shop in Wantagh. I was told he couldn't make the repair without ruining the integrity of the boot. I actually stopped at Roy's on my way home from the other shop. After explaining that I wanted a reduction in the top calf area of the boot, Roy's quickly measured how much to remove, made some markings, I left a deposit and I was on my way. I picked my boots up today and boy am I pleased! He did exactly what I wanted and the boot looks like nothing was done. Now I have perfect fitting boots at my calf! This guy is running a cash only shoe repair. He doesn't only overcharge but is the sloppiest I've ever seen. First time there, I brought in some boots and some dress shoes for non-slip soles, when I picked up I noticed the heel on the boot was damaged. about a week later I put on the dress shoes and the strap just popped off. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I brought a purse for him to attach the strap. He said he needed 6 days to repair it and when I came to pick it up he had not even touched it so he asked me to come back in 2 minutes. When I came back he had attached the strap with a few sloppy stitches and some glue. Completely ruined my expensive purse! When I questioned the last minute sloppy job he got angry and told me if I didn't like it I should've sent the bag back to the manufacturer for them to fix. His wife also chimed in defending him. I will never come back to this place to be robbed and have my expensive items ruined. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY! read more

I thought the world was over for my Red Bottoms until the new owner, Boris brought them to life. I've been a customer for 4 solid years and I pridefully say this is some of the best work I have ever seen.Not only did this new owner fix the soles and the heels but he completely renewed the entire heel. Roy is one of the last of his trade. It's becoming harder and harder to find a good cobbler and this guy definitely delivers. He repaired the heels and shined my girlfriends Chelsea boots. These turned out fantastic and really made me value the time spent to repair these. This definitely isn't a quick repair either because it took over a week to repair my girlfriends boots but it's well worth the wait honestly. I dropped my over the knee blue boots off at Roy's, which I needed for comic con. They kept sliding down because the fit was a bit off. He finished them within two days and I must say they fit amazing now. He added an elastic to them so they literally fit like a glove. I couldn't be happier and that he had them done with more then enough time to be sure there wasn't anything else he needed to do. read more

I go all the way to Massapequa to go to Roy's Shoe Repair (tiny shop near Petco and the liquor store--it's a big shopping center.). He is a GREAT, skillful cobbler and honest as the day is long. And so nice! I have been going there for over 20 years to fix my shoes and my family's shoes. He doesn't take checks or credit cards (cash only) so be prepared! Trust me, I have been shocked at how reasonable his prices are, he's been in business for years. Brought two pairs of dr. Martens in for new zippers, and a leather bag that needed a strap repair because my dog chewed through it. Was nervous to see Roy sold the business and new people were there. Needless to say, Everything came out perfect, would never know the dr. Martens were repaired; zippers and stitching match perfectly. I can't even find the chewed rip in the strap - every thing blends just right. Oh and side note- I loved Roy but these guys are a little more pleasant to deal too lol- very nice. read more

I Have been going to this shop for years,,Roy and his brother have been there for decades. They are probably the most honest people you could ever meet. This is an "old school" basic shop, nothing fancy. I don't even know if Roy takes credit cards. He always has done a great job for me, and his prices have always been very fair. That is why he seems to have built up such a loyal following, when other shops have closed. I have also found that Roy is very knowledgeable at his craft and is quite creative, being able to repair things that appeared to be damaged beyond repair,,, They are real gentlemen,,,Their spirit of customer service is unequaled. I was going to Roy for years until he lost 2 pairs of expensive shoes due to the chaotic mess he operates within. Honestly the shoes were over $500 and he couldn't care less, just shrugged his shoulders. He either gave them to the wrong person or sold them! They were no where in his shop.
