A truly #1 Service Center. Recommended by a coworker. Made an appointment for my vehicle for a wheel alignment at 8am. Greeted by Ray. Within the hour he had it done. Explained with the alignment paperwork of how in the red it was, to the final printout of how he made sure it was all in the green after many adjustments. The price was less than $150. Felt so reassured of his work and walked out a very happy customer. So I have waited to see the end result but after 1000 miles I have to say that the quality of workmanship is beyond reproach. I have a Ford Diesel with 250000 miles and had a catastrophic engine failure. I was recommended to Rays from another mechanic in town because they would not touch the job. I sat down with Ray and he outlined my options and costs along with his recommendations, man this guy knows diesels. After discussion, we decided to change the entire engine which was the best return on investment. Once the engine arrived Ray and Hunter worked the issue and got me back on the road. No issues noted and have 1000 miles I am going strong. Hats off to Christine at the front desk for coordinating the whole thing!! After being taken to the cleaners by Toyota in Eatontown for years I decided to give a local family owned shop a try. My friend recommended I try Rays in Neptune City so I read a few reviews and gave them a call. Ray answered the phone with a positive and welcoming voice. Told me to bring my car right over and he'll take a look at it. So I did just that. All said and done Ray went out of his way to help me out and did it with a smile. The price was extremely fair and explained down to the last weld. Ray found ways to save me money by fabricating parts and being creative with his talent. Not just ordering new and replacing things that don't need to be replaced, like Toyota would have done. Here's the best part. When I came to pick up my car Ray talked me through everything that was done and why. Suggested a few things that would/come up in the future and how he would handle them when/if they do. His wife was working the front office, his son is one of the mechanics and his name, Ray, is on the sign. It's just a positive mom and pop family business that is honest with their clients and there to help you not gauge your wallet. I just felt really good about the experience and will use/recommend Ray's to anyone looking for a shop to use. I can't say enough GOOD about this business. I first went to the Dealer about a relatively simple repair - I looked up the part & would have done it myself but I have no time. I was shocked by the Dealer's inflated price (even the part price was a LOT more) so I decided to try a smaller Mom & Pop operation. I have a friend who likes & recommended Ray's. I ended up needing more done than told to me by the Dealer. Even with ALL of it finished Ray's Service Center charged us 1/3 less than the Dealer quoted BEFORE I found out I needed even more work to fix it properly. Had the Dealer actually opened up the door panel & even looked they would have seen that I needed the second part. In that case I am sure the bill would have been nearly 1/2 the Dealers quote. I was coming from out of town to look at a vehicle I was interested in buying off Craigslist and called Rays to ask them to look it over for me. They were so helpful and patient. They explained what they were looking for based on their knowledge of the make of the vehicle and went over the carfax history with me. They also managed the owner of the vehicle very well who came with me to the appointment and who was a pretty intense and intimidating. They treated me as their customer not the owner, which I also appreciated since my experience as a woman with so many mechanics is that they will just talk to the man in the room. The vehicle checked out except for a few minor things and I felt much better purchasing it after their inspection. Ray's has that rare combination of skill and honesty that is virtually impossible to find among auto repair services. Through a weird series of events, I've been through 3 cars in the last 5 years. Over and over again, they have saved me money and done great work. Recently, I made the mistake of bringing my car to Lester Glenn Ford in Ocean Township because it's a hybrid, the car had an electrical issue, and I thought they would be in a good position to diagnose it. Long story short, after two visits there, they quoted me over $8,000 for two repair jobs. Rays charged a total of just over $1,400 for those same jobs plus some other minor repairs. The car now runs more smoothly than it ever has. I tell everyone about Rays and will continue to do so. They're truly nice people and a rare find. read more

My car and I were recently in a horrible car accident. I was the victim of a negligent driver. Thankfully I am physically ok. We were visiting Ocean Grove for the weekend and had no idea where to have our car towed after the accident. . The woman at AAA was kind enough to recommend Ray's service center and I can't thank her enough. Linda, one of the owners, has been nothing but kind, supportive, helpful and understanding. She made recommendations in order to help us as well as was very patient with the other insurance company while they dragged their feet in resolving the claim!!! I found this place online because of the reviews. I went there to have an overheating problem looked at. The receptionist is friendly. They charged me for a thermostat and radiator cap. All was fine. When I got home after the service, I went to check the engine and could not pop the hood. I brought the car in again the next day and told them about the problem. The owner was very contrite and seemed to blame me for the problem. It ended up being the shop broke my hood release cable, didn't notify me about it, and charged me for opening the hood up and replacing the cable. They obviously don't stand behind their work and charge you for their mistakes. I would never go there again. read more
