I'm really disappointed with my experience and wish I had gone a different direction…read more I hired this contractor for multiple projects in my home, including a garage door and opener, window replacement, and some bathroom repairs. The total estimate was a little over $4,200, and I paid about $2,600 upfront, which I was told covered the garage door and opener. From the beginning, I was given a *tentative* start date that depended on the garage door arriving, and he specifically mentioned he's had issues in the past with materials not arriving on time. He confirmed the start date via email only the day before. When I didn't respond, there was no follow-up by phone or text. I missed the email for about two days, which I took full responsibility for and apologized for immediately. I am a single mother with two senior children who have a lot going on, and I work two jobs, including one with 10-hour days where I'm out of the house for close to 13 hours with my commute, and the other takes up my weekends. I'm a very busy person and while I try to stay on top of everything, I do occasionally miss emails. I would not have missed a call or text. However, after that, his demeanor completely changed. He went from incredibly friendly to basically rude. I was told the project would be pushed back by about two months. When I said I might need to cancel due to that delay, I was told I would forfeit a large portion of my deposit, which put me in a very difficult position. I truly felt like he was trying to punish me for missing that email. After trying to work something out, he agreed to come in March and installed the garage door. Unfortunately, I have concerns about the quality of the installation. There are exposed wires, the sensors had issues almost immediately, and the old exterior seal was not replaced, leaving it looking unfinished. When I contacted him because the door would not close the second time I used it after installation, his response was that I may need to adjust the sensors. There was no follow-up to make sure it was working correctly and no acknowledgment that it should not have been having issues right away. I am not a contractor, but overall it does not appear to be professional-level work. After the installation, communication stopped again. When I reached out to ask when he would be returning to complete the rest of the agreed-upon work, his eventual response was that he likely would not be able to fit the remaining work in, and that he would "let me know" if anything opened up in the next few months. In that same message, he also informed me for the first time that he never installed the rodent block with the garage door (one of my main reasons for replacing it in the first place due to pest concerns), and then stated that I still owed him an additional balance of about $200 for the work that was completed. At this point, I'm left with an incomplete project, concerns about the quality of the work that was done, and being told I owe more money after already paying a significant deposit and not receiving the full scope of work. As a customer, I expected clear communication, follow-through, and transparency, and unfortunately that was not my experience. I would not recommend based on my experience.
