I felt compelled to leave this review because of the previous complaint about Raul's resident dog Lucas. My fiance actually dragged me into this store specifically because of Lucas, a very cute, very friendly Shiba Inu. He was totally smitten kitten by the dog's people skills, so I can assure you this is no vicious pup! Ever since that first stop into Raul's, we've come back multiple times for iced coffee and our weekly supply of flowers. The arrangements are always beautiful and stay fresh far longer than I'd ever expect. You are, however, at the mercy of whatever varieties they have in store when you come in, which is often times limited. The design of this store is also incredible. I literally sent a photo of the interiors to my wedding planner. The black and white floors are to die for. The home decor is a bit limited. I can't speak to its quality, as I've never purchased it, but the blue and white porcelain China inspired planters are very enticing. We might buy one next time we get some florals! I knocked off a star because I do agree that the staff is a little standoffish. You don't walk in and get greeted immediately. Sometimes they won't even look up or even smile. I'm not someone who minds this type of service, but I can understand why someone would be put off by it. Overall, don't be afraid of the dog :) read more

I want to share my very honest and BAD experience I had with this store. I went in November 25th to purchase two large plants for my apartment. I received them on sale, but they appeared healthy. I asked multiple employees how much water I should give them and how often. Knowing there are no drainage holes on the planter, I was told 6 cups once a week. I followed those instructions EXACTLY as recommended and noticed both plants begin to wilt. One was simply losing leaves while the other just started turning yellow, then brown. I realize it is normal for plants to lose leaves, but when I showed pictures to a specialist, he informed me one of my plants had gotten root rot, which occurs when you water a plant too much. The best solution was to replant the entire plant altogether. Mind you, these plants are GIGANTIC, so that is not an easy task. 3 and a half months after my purchase when I realized my plant may not survive in its condition, I decided to reach out to Raúl to see if there's anything they could do for me, considering this was their fault to begin with by misleading me with watering instructions. I was hoping they could either do the replanting to SALVAGE the plant, or replace it with a healthier one. The man at the store wrote down my name and phone number and promised a call back. They never called me back and a couple weeks later, Covid hit. I understand the severity of this pandemic and its impact on everyone's business, so to be courteous and compassionate, I decided to leave it alone for a little while, until things got back to normal. I finally decided to call them back to follow up on my inquiry that they had ignored. When I called, an employee picked up the phone and I asked to speak to the manager of the store. He told me he was him and after a brief discussion of my dilemma, he asked to send photos. He then put me on hold to ask RAÚL, THE MANAGER HE CLAIMED HE WAS. So he lied, presumably because the manager didn't want to deal with a concerned customer who spent money at his store. Despite everything, Raúl turned me away and I was told that there was absolutely NOTHING they could do for me, because it had been too long. Even though I initially reached out THREE AND A HALF MONTHS after I purchased the plant. I can't imagine that is "too long", considering large plant development is a slow process. The employee even had the audacity to claim it had been over a year, when that is entirely false and I have photos with dates to prove it (shown in the images attached). The man told me I had paid too little and those plants are worth more. He told me they were final sale, however, they did NOT say that when I purchased them. They had an entire selection of extra plants from an event they did and didn't know what to do with them, so they put them on sale. I had asked if they could replace it with a smaller healthy plant, but he refused. I'm absolutely stunned at the unprofessionalism, and lack of compassion for their customers. I didn't even receive an apology for any of this. So be warned. The only thing about customers they care about is the money in their pocket. They're not willing to assist you with anything substantial. Raúl is a greedy lazy business owner who is too cowardly to speak to his customers himself and would rather send a messenger to refuse any assistance. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT COME HERE if plants are important to you. Otherwise, throw your money at them and never look back. read more

The team at Raúl Retail created an elegant custom sympathy bouquet that was delivered to a dear friend on time, on budget, exceeded expectations, and with such kind service. It was an excellent customer experience. I am impressed with how attentive they are at their store whether shopping for a full bouquet of flowers or simply picking up a couple of stems for under $20. I am delighted to have the opportunity to buy work from the tastemaker who is the event designer for the Met Gala. Pick up a matcha espresso latte next door at their Cafe Flor. So disappointed with this store. The customer service is terrible. We had problems with a purchase months ago, after going into the store multiple times and leaving messages we didn't hear back. Then covid came and they disappeared. Now that they're open again we called and they tell us it's too late to do an exchange. Don't sell people low quality products and misguide them with improper care instructions. We will never buy anything else from this shitty store. read more

I'm not usually the kinda guy who would rave about a florist, but these guys are f'n awesome! My girlfriend (now wife) has lived in the neighborhood for years and usually drops by to purchase random items or flowers for housewarming or hostess gifts. When we decided to get married (in the apt, Covid-style), she insisted we get the flowers from Raul's. I admit, at first I was kinda skeptical, but boy was I wrong. They totally crushed it. We first met with Samer, who immediately picked up on our vision for how we wanted the apartment to look - to which he also matched her bouquet, my boutonniere, and the florals for the cake. On the day of the event - despite this being a relatively small order for a florist - Samer, Raul and one other gentlemen from the store came to our apartment to set it all up and decorate the cake (in full PPE gear). It was absolutely amazing - we couldn't believe how great it looked! We got a tremendous amount of compliments about it (from our guests who all attended via Zoom), and it made an amazing backdrop for photos. To put a cherry on top, the guys also went above and beyond when cleaning up after themselves (Samer even pulled out the vacuum and cleaned up more than their own mess and they took a trash bag with them). Without question, we recommend Raul's for any florist project; we will definitely patron their store more often. read more

Raúl's shop is such a nice escape from the reality we're living in these days. I love popping-in to see the latest fresh flowers and housewares available. I've made purchases quite a few times and have always been happy with the florals, frames, and vases - for myself or as a gift for others. On the one occasion that I had an issue with hydrangeas lasting less than 24 hours at home, I snapped some pictures, returned to the shop and the associate replaced them without any issues. She was friendly, understanding, apologized, and made the situation right. As for people upset about the dog - it's a floral shop not a petting zoo. Browse, buy, and admire the dog from a distance. I'm happy that there is a small business like Raúl in the neighborhood. There's nothing else like it in Chelsea. It's definitely worth a visit and local support. read more

Terrible customer service. The dog that is in the store and belongs to the owner is extremely unfriendly and bit my hand (and the dog had an expired rabies vaccine). I had to go to urgent care for the bite and in response, they threw in a damaged item they had in the store to try and fix the event that had taken place. A couple months later one of the items they said would get better with age is now starting to fall apartment. When I contacted them they had no response other than they weren't going to do anything, there was no need to come into the store, and to "have a great day". read more

We recently purchased two expensive plants from this store. One of the plants was defective with fungus and the leaves started falling off. I contacted Ashley and she told me that she would replace it with a different plant from the company they purchased it from. Now the second same plant has fungus. When it was replaced, it was put into the same pot with the same rocks that clearly still had fungus on them from the previous plant. When I reached put to Ashley she said they would never repot the plant with the same soil and rocks. I submitted pictures regarding the same issue with the plant. I told her we would like to replace it for a different plant because this is the second plant with fungus again. Ashley's response was that we could pick up the plant again, but they would have to charge us for a new plant or we could give you the number to a specialist who will charge a fee to come see the plant. We didn't purchase the plant from the specialist. We purchased it from Raul. The plant should be replaced until the problem is corrected. At the prices they charge the customer service should be on point. We will never do business with them again. read more

I rarely post on Yelp, but...We recently had 2 plants repotted here (after five years, they were getting too big for their pots). After getting them home, we realized one was infested with gnats within days. The gnats were mainly concentrated on one of the plants, but had migrated a bit to the other. We notified the store by text (the way we'd been communicating all along) but we didn't get a response. So we walked in and restated our problem in person. At first they blamed it on us over-watering them. However, we were barely watering them at all, even less than advised. So they took the most infested plant back and said they'd fix the issue. In the meantime, we noticed our other plant was getting worse. So we spent alot of time (and money) finally figuring out things to do (mosquito bits, Eight Concentrate, etc...) and finally rid the second plant of gnats. We picked the original plant back up from Raul's a couple of weeks later, being assured the gnat problem was fixed. We walked it back home, and IN THE ELEVATOR going up to our apartment, we saw gnats in the soil. We texted them about it - crickets. And once again, we have two gnat infested plants. We are exhausted and have given up. They don't seem to care either. We highly suggest you not buy plants from this store. They seem to have a gnat problem. read more
