Price - Very fair, well explained and exactly what we expected Speed - Excellent, his crew was constantly out there and even worked through mild rain on several days. Communication/Interaction - Excellent as well. He was transparent, kept in frequent contact, and was flexible when we had minor changes along the way. Quality - Also great. We really lucked out when we met Octaviano from New Earth Landscaping. He is a true professional and he knows what he's talking about. From our first meeting and conversation with him, we were sure he was the best person for the job, but we still got a couple of other quotes just to be certain. What convinced us to hire him was his contract. Compared to the other two we received, it was, by far, the most thorough and detailed, not only explaining everything he would be doing, but also, when applicable, listing the specific products he'd be using too. When work finally began (a few days earlier than expected, which was nice), we knew we had made the right decision. Octaviano started by introducing us to his crew, the hardest working guys you'll ever meet. He then spent a while going over our design plans with his lead crew member. While the work was in progress, he was onsite nearly every day. He also gave us constant updates as well as great advice and recommendations when our plans had to be tweaked here and there. Honestly, working with Octaviano and his crew was so easy. I think he really goes out of his way to make landscape projects as stress-free as possible for the homeowner. Recently, my husband and I had pavers and artificial turf put down in our yard, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome! The yard turned out even better than we expected. We got 3 bids for our concrete path and paver repair. While New Earth was the highest, we chose them because the communication with Pablo and the detailed bid (and his willingness to adjust it in a timely manner) made us the most comfortable. During my 40 year career as a construction law attorney, I had the opportunity to evaluate the work of more than one hundred building contractors. Such evaluation would typically revolve about whether the work was undertaken in a professional and exemplary manner. A few months ago, my wife and I decided to have our front and backyard lawns replaced by artificial turf. In so doing, and after doing some research on Google and Yelp, we had the good fortune of coming across many stellar reviews of New Earth Landscaping (hereafter "NEL"). Impressed, we placed a phone call to the Company. In less than 30 minutes our phone call was returned by the owner, Mr. Octaviano Pablo (hereafter "Pablo"). We told Pablo that we needed an estimate to replace our lawns with artificial turf. He was out to our house the next day doing what we considered to be an extremely comprehensive review of our front and backyard lawns. He also quite capably responded to every one of our questions regarding the prospective work. That evening we received from Pablo a bid for NEL to do such work. We also got two other bids from companies who were highly rated on the web. Even though the bid submitted by NEL was not the low bid, we were so impressed by Pablo that we decided to go with NEL. We could not have made a better decision. We found NEL's construction crew to be absolutely wonderful. Even though the work was being undertaken during summer month temperatures of over 90° and in some cases, over 100°, the construction crew was amazing. They all worked extremely hard, notwithstanding the oppressive heat. Pablo was present to supervise every day. In fact, he often joined his workers In doing the work itself. At the end of every day, NEL left the construction site clean and tidy. This was so very much appreciated by my wife and me. Also, the work was completed exactly per the timeline that Pablo had given us the first day we met. Pablo's communication skills were, and remain, superlative. We would meet with him several times a week. During these meetings, he answered our questions and would sometimes make suggestions that he felt would improve the appearance of our landscaping. We agreed to each of his suggestions. We are now extremely happy we did. Now, thanks to NEL, the appearance of our front yard and back yard landscaping has been improved one thousand fold. We could not be happier. In short, we give NEL the highest endorsement that we possibly can. NEL was absolutely fantastic. What a joy to work with a kind and honest contractor! We had New Earth install our artificial turf in our front yard. Octaviano was responsive with coming to give us a quote. He gave us a written quote and full on contract on that same day, complete with all of his location and licensing information. He was open and flexible and willing to work with us. When they came to do the install they were friendly, efficient, neat, thorough and timely. We were done with the project from Estimate to Install in about 2 weeks. Oh and the front lawn looks beautiful! Quality work by a quality team. We know this because we had a nightmare with our last contractor doing our backyard (which had to be done over no less than 3 times and it's still not right). NEL did a fantastic job on repairing all of our fencing after our stromy winter weather. The fences were literally falling down. Octaviano and his crew came in and relpaced several posts and were able to save the fence without having to replace it. We saved alot of money that way. They also tightened up all the loose fence boards and repaire a sagging gate. Awesome job on all. They accomplished in two days what would have taken me several weeks to do on my own. Throughout the entire process (which they completed a day or two early), Pablo was very forthcoming about any minor changes he needed to or suggested we'd make. I contacted Octaviano Pablo in January for an estimate on a landscape design. He replied promptly to my voicemail and we made an appointment for him to come in just a few days to look at the scope of the work. Within three days of our appointment he sent a contract, with an estimated start date for early in March. The work was able to begin a week earlier than originally estimated and was completed in 7 days. Pablo and his crew of four other men arrived at 8AM each morning and put in long days of steady work. The project entailed: removal of several old plants and shrubs; replacing the sprinkler system in front and back yards; new planting; replacing old bender board; building two small retaining walls (one brick & one wood; installing lighting in the front and back yards; and laying extensive yard fabric and mulch. Before purchasing the mulch, he brought five samples so I could select my preference for color and type. I expanded the scope of the project twice during the time his crew was here. Pablo happily accommodated these additions and issued itemized change orders each time that outlined the additional work. He was flexible and offered appropriate suggestions for location of fixtures for lighting pathways and trees. His excellent customer service included insuring that I understood how to program my new (wifi) sprinkler and lighting controllers and explaining how to check that the sprinkler nozzles and drip emitters were working appropriately. The crew washed down all hard surfaces at the end of the job and left the place spotless. I am very pleased with the outcome and I enthusiastically recommend Pablo and New Earth Landscaping for your project. New earth landscaping was contracted to replace my front and backyard lawns with synthetic lawn. In addition they were asked to remove all of the ivy in my front yard and replant our side terrace area along our fence. The replanting of the ivy area included adding a water drip system to various native plants and grasses. Also We requested the construction of a dry lake bed. Pablo and his crew arrived on time each day for the one week project. Not only were his crew extremely hard-working but very experienced with this kind of project. They knew how to prevent weeds from growing and erosion control of the soil that was on a 30° slope.. I cannot be more pleased with the results produced. Really solid, professional work from Octaviano and crew. I recently bought a fixer-upper in Oakland that needed a new backyard fence and deck. Requested a quote online from several east bay companies and started doing research. Octaviano got back to me shortly after I requested a quote from New Earth to set up a time to inspect the space and provide a quote. Showed up on time, and his quote for the work was very reasonable and cost-effective. The deciding factor that made me go with him was the fact that his crew could start work in just a few weeks, which was at least a month before other companies had said they could start the project. New Earth showed up at 8:00 AM the morning the project started, ready to work. Tore down and disposed of the old backyard fencing quickly, and got the new fence up within approximately a week. Built a beautiful two-level deck around a couple of existing trees, which really improved the look and functionality of the backyard. And this was all working with site restrictions. The house is an older Victorian that extends to the property line on each side, which means they could only access the backyard through the first floor unit. Still managed to get everything in and out in a timely manner. Additionally, New Earth was able to take on an extra project on the fly. Before starting the deck, Octaviano built a French drainage system to divert water around the house when it rains. The drains are integrated beautifully into the backyard, with no exposed piping. Throughout the whole process, Octaviano was communicative and professional. Any time he had to make a change to the existing plan, he gave me a call to confirm the changes. After 50 years my yard badly needed new landscaping and a drip water system installed. i didn't hesitate to call Pablo who I have known for at least 8 years. I wanted drought resistant and very low maintenance plants. I had plans drawn up with a garden designer and Pablo followed the blueprints exactly. BEWARE!! I am changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star sadly. Pablo left a message that he "lost" the $200 check I wrote him almost two weeks ago and asked for another check. When I checked my bank account, the check had already been cashed. When I mentioned this to Pablo, he said that he was sorry that he had made a mistake. He did cash that check but had lost the another check from that same day and called me by accident. The work that Pablo and his brother did on my yard was great, but now I will never trust him.
