I love coming here. The ladies are always nice and do a great job, plus it's quick! I also love the fact that threading is more sanitary than traditional wax hair removal--ick on double dipping! I usually just do upper lip. I never trust anyone with my eyebrows but I did once here and I was pretty pleased with them, although I still prefer to do them myself. I highly recommend RB's. I am utterly shocked how Bela (one of the owners)insulted me today. I went for chin and upperlip and there were cuts and blood all over. I asked her why she took the ones that were under skin and she said this is how she always does it. I said one of the other girls never takes those out and there is never a single cut. And she got testy and only asked to come when the other girl is in the shop. Shilpa has just changed her schedule and only comes on Saturdays which I cannot do so I told Bela that I cannot do that. Why don't you just leave the ones ubderskin untouched and she plainly refused and started to argue. I was shocked and said why are you talking like that and she said you don't tell me how to do business as I have been running it for a long time. She said I have a lot of customers and I don't need you. and it was a downhill from there. I buy packages (or used to) from them and And when I tried to point my name in the register, she pushed my hand and said I am going to rip your page from the register as I don't need you. She was literally screaming and asked me get out of her shop and slammed the door on my face. Her expression was like she wanted to hit me. My 4 yrs son who was with me got scared and said 'mommy, don't come here again. She will hurt you'. I am in a shock. Have been going there for a few years and this was a real eye opener. Am attaching the picture of my chin and I will attach another one tomorrow after all the scabs have formed on my face. There are ways to show displeasure but bullying a customer, never seen that before. So arrogant of her business like everyone is a fool. For God's sake it's just threading, not rocket science. Only go there if you are ready to be cut and yelled upon. There are so many places where they really take good care of your skin. These guys don't even clean your face or put moisturizer but still charge so much. On top of it you get served with bad attitude. read more

Horrible customer service! Walked into the store and the lady, did not get her name, yelled at me to get on the chair and did my eyebrows in what felt like 2 seconds. When I got up she had cut my skin in different places. Not worth the $16 charge for eyebrow threading. I will go somewhere from now on. read more

I understand that most of these reviews are from people that have never experienced threading before Karisma, which is why my rating is so low. I lived in LA for seven years and threading was part of my life every two weeks for seven years. And I must say Karisma is not nearly up to par! First of all, the lady is a bit on the strange side. Whenever I come in there she is alone and talks to me about strange things AND I am a woman of great brows that are very thick and she can NEVER thread them right. I continuously tell her what I want and she continuously makes them uneven and oddly shaped and then she has the nerve to argue with me! The only reason I go to her is b/c she is the only threading around int he peninsula without paying $22. which is RIDICULOUS. However I found a lady in san jose who does a much better job and only charges $5. She actually listens to you too and her outcome is way better. I hope this lady gets help from real professionals soon! read more

I'm thrilled that less than five minutes away is Simor and Karisma Threading Studio. It's my 5x5x10 threading: I get there in 5 minutes and Simor threads my eyebrows into sleek shape in 5 minutes. The other 10 minutes goes to conversation. She's such a warm soul and we'll talk about Sikh culture and Indian food (where to source quality ingredients at good prices). On my first visit, she tells me to hold a sec, then emerges from the back of her store with a package of frozen whole wheat paratha. "Take this home and try it. Let me know how you like it" and insists I take it home. What a bonus! I get sleek eyebrows AND Indian food! read more

I was very pleased to go here on a Saturday and have my whole face threaded in about 20 mins. Definitely amazing!! Not as painful as waxing and a little less $ :) So she definitely gets my seal of approval. I know that I will be going back and look forward to a hair-free face for months to come!! Thank you for my friend to hook me up to this place! Now I cannot go back to the time where I constantly pluck my eyebrows with a tweezer. I made an appointment with Simor in the afternoon (around 2pm or so), and she was able to fit me in on the same day for 5pm. When I walked in, Simor asked me how I heard of her place. I read the reviews on Yelp after my friend mentioned this place to me before, so I mentioned my friend's reference as well as Yelp, she seems to be aware of Yelp very well. :-) The threading process is very quick and fast. I think it only took her about 10 minutes to finish both eyebrows and upper lip area. I was a bit nervous at first as this was my first time for threading, but she helped me relax and told me how I would be able to keep the eyebrow shape without messing it up again. The price was very reasonable compared to other places in the area. It was $15 for both eyebrows and upper lips. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has not done threading in the past or who's not satisfied with their current threading artist! I love it! read more

Update: My daughter asked me to make sure I had reviewed Karisma, because she continues to be very happy with the service she gets there. She's been going every couple of weeks since she started earlier this year. The only reason we don't recommend it to everyone we know is that my daughter considers it her special beauty secret -- none of her friends know she has her facial hair handled this way. I saw the reviews on Yelp while I was looking for something else entirely, and since it was so close and so well-rated, it got my attention. My teen daughter tweezes and has been asking me about waxing, but I was very iffy about that. I suggested threading and she wanted to give it a try. We called at 4:20 PM to see if we could fit an appointment in, and Simor gave us 4:45 PM! Zipped over on the bus. TO HELP FIND IT, it's across El Camino from Quiznos, in the same building as the garage door place, on the SE side of the intersection of Harbor Blvd and El Camino Real. IF YOU FORGET CASH, there's an ATM at the Sunshine Cafe on the NE side of the intersection, or Wells Fargo ATMs at Safeway another block or two north on El Camino at Safeway. Simor was very friendly and sweet to my daughter. She had upper lip and brow. Simor reminded her not to tweeze anymore, because she'd messed up part of the brow line and created holes. Daughter says that the far ends of the lip were a little painful, but it didn't take long. We were out in 10 minutes. Even before our bus back came, daughter's skin had faded from pinkish back to normal. She really liked the experience and already has her next appointment scheduled. She is going to recommend it to her friends as a nicer alternative to waxing, because many of them do that. read more

I love threading! The lady who threaded my eyebrows here did a fantastic job! I had been really nervous about going to this place after not having threaded my eyebrows in months. Plus, I miss my old place in Houston, TX a lot. (I had a threading artist in TX who was wicked awesome.) At first I thought the right brow was a little thin when she finished shaping it, and she did seem to get a bit defensive. I gather she's had some unhappy customers chew her up a few times. However, I assured her that it was alright, and that I did in fact like the overall shape, so she proceeded to the next one. After leaving and letting the redness wear away (fair skin = irritation no matter what), I'm very happy with how my brows look and will be coming back to this place again. One small thing that could have improved the experience is if she'd rubbed my brows a bit with cooling lotion like my threading artist back in TX used to do. Also, I know $15 seems to be the going rate for eyebrow threading in the bay area, but I only paid $5 for this service back in Houston. However, this isn't the studio's fault. That's the going rate of the area. Sometimes the price differences between TX and CA still make me a little sore though. ;) read more

Not being satisfied with threading from several different people, I came to Simor with skepticism that she too is going to be one of them. But what a surprise! Simor is the best in the business- she not only did a great job with threading my eyebrows but also was very fast and efficient. Her method is effortless and does not hurt at all!! Went to her a handful of times with no problems. On the last visit, she accidentially took off 1/2 of my right eyebrow. I had to fill it in with a brow liner for more than a month until it grew out. Luckily I had long bangs that hid the damage. I haven't gone back since. :-( read more

Simor is back from India! She has broughten back some great scarfs, purses and other beautiful pieces from her trip. I personally bought a scarf and small purse they are amazing. So regarding her services she is very friendly and the threading experience has been great. There is no irritation and her work is very efficient. I waited over a month for her to return and I didn't care because I knew I couldn't find the same service anywhere else :) In addition my drive from San Francisco is so worth it becauseI haven't found anything better. I used to go to the ibar in Palo Alto, but one time I just had a horrible experience there and frankly was getting tired of a bunch of different women doing my eyebrows, so I started to look for a different/better place. My mom and I love RB Threading Studio! Ruchi is amazing at threading and always keeps my eyebrows looking amazing! My mom and I will never go anywhere else again now that we've found RB threading studio. Ruchi is also amazing at henna, and does it right in the studio or can host henna parties, which is pretty cool. RB studio is located on El Camino in Belmont and always has parking right in front, so it is extremely convenient. read more

I come to this place every so often. It's a little pricy. Most of the time I go out of my way to get my eyebrows threaded somewhere else. But the last time I came in, I was really satisfied with the way my eyebrows looked when I left. I have been growing my eyebrows out for almost 2 months now, so that I can reshape. For someone with a scar on one eyebrow that doesn't allow hair to grow, this isn't easy at all. And normally when I go to other places to get them done, they usually come out too thin. I told the lady not to thread the top and just focus on the extra hair on the bottom. My eyebrows are coming along very nicely and I feel good knowing that I can go here and not have to worry about my eyebrows coming out too thin. Even though it's more pricey than I'd like, I'll be coming back in a week or two. read more

I like to get my eyebrows done and after years of hit and misses with waxing, I decided to seek out a threading studio. I was driving on El Camino and spotted RB threading in Belmont. Ria is very sweet and always greets me with a smile. I make an appt every 2-3 weeks with Ria and have zero wait time. I'm pretty sensitive to pain and yes, there is some pain, but it's bearable and Ria applies lotion right after so that helps a little. While, it's not the cheapest place to get your eyebrows done, paying $15 every few weeks is doable for me; especially since the location works for me and I get in and out in a timely manner. read more

I use to like this place and thought it was a great place to get eyebrows done. The owners use to be friendly and took good care of your eyebrows, but I no longer feel that way!!! They now just want to rush you out of there! Bela literally did my eyebrows in 2 mins, and said done. Upon checking, she had cut me in various places, which I hate! I still had hair that needed to be removed and when I told her that you missed some hair, she just said those hair are under the skin and can't be removed!!! She didn't even try! She wasn't even busy! I was literally the only person there! She was on phone when I got in and I felt like she wanted me out of there so she could go back to chit chatting! I have thick hair and she was very rough on the threading, so much that it was bleeding when i came back home. I wanted to like this, honest I did, but I didn't. I have never had my brows threaded before. I looked up some places, and saw this one on yelp. I gave it my best. I thought it would be quick and pain free. It took several minutes of me pulling my own face various directions and trying to stay relaxed through pain. She actually managed to pinch my skin in 3 spots that bled and have now scabbed over 3 days later. She meant to put aloe vera on my brows to cool the pain, but put Purell by accident. Oops. All in all, she was very nice. I like the general shape of my brow but I had to tweeze more when I got home, she missed several hairs. I have light hair but I was able to see it in my bathroom mirror, not sure how she missed them. I would consider trying her again, only because she was so nice and it was an awkward first time but I will probably go back to waxing. read more

First time: threader was actually pretty good, it didn't really hurt but when she handed me the mirror...the eyebrows had different shapes from each other. Secon time: my skin got pinched and the girl doing the eyebrows said: "oh...I should pay more attention!". I was bleeding and, to cover it, she put talc on it! If you have ever experienced good threading services before, this is not the place for you. The lady behaves well, but constantly mentions that some of her customers have paid her 50% tip! Threading is not at all painful if properly done, but whenever I went here my skin got scratched, it turned red and stayed like that for 3 days (I have been threading my eyebrows for more than 10 years now and never had such problems before). I gave her couple of chances thinking it was just a bad day. But after my 4th attempt, I never returned back. Another thing is the price varies for different people, you wont get a bill 99% of the time. read more

Yes, Simor was fast as they say but not careful. The first time I went to her (mind you, also my fist time threading), I did not have a pleasant experience. It was hot, uncomfortable, and she did not do a careful job. She missed a lot of spots and my eyebrows were uneven. I find the entire process extremely uncomfortable and somewhat painful. I went a second time, thinking the first time may have been a fluke...and I think it was worse. I left bleeding with two small but painful scars over my eyes as she tried to convince me to write her a good review on yelp....I've gone back to waxing. read more

This review is as painful to write as it is to look in the mirror and see my hideous eyebrows. While this will be my fourth and last visit, the three visits prior have been exceptional and it was all due to one YOUNG woman (whose name I've forgotten). She was great! She was professional, sweet, quick but thorough, and really listened to what I wanted. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about today's experience. Upon showing up, I was surprised to see another (older) woman but seeing as I was so happy with their service I figured she would be fine. I called in to assure I would be seen as soon as I got there and as quickly as I was taken, so were my beautiful, bushy eyebrows. Today, I essentially have no brows. I am brow-less. The state of my eyebrows take me back to my middle school years of experimenting and some how ending up with lines for brows. But I'm wiser now. Since then, I've had a lot of practice with learning how to perfect/fill in my eyebrows but now I'm forced to take on a different art form: drawing on a new set of eyebrows! All dramatics aside, I am so unhappy with how my eyebrows turned out. Because I was pressed for time, I really didn't have an opportunity to examine the damage or discuss how truly upset I was. I may be at fault for not disclosing to her how I specifically prefer my eyebrows (thick and true to its natural shape with a little arch), but with that being said what she did to my eyebrows is something I'm almost certain most young women my age don't want. They want full-looking eyebrows. They want natural-looking eyebrows. In today's world of social media, you can't escape the millions of images and videos of "the perfect brow". My brows are no where near perfect all because of this OLDER woman. I hope the women of this business take notice of my review and the reviews alike. -1 star b/c i had to do a little bit up clean up here and there after i got home... and my usual skin irritation (more on this, i wish i could get this treated, if anyone knows what i can do, please let me know...) i'm actually a usual at skin envy so i have only that to compare with. atmosphere: cozy small threading studio, has a reclining chair, i went early in the morning and she was playing indian religious music which she says she plays every morning b/c later in the day she doesn't have much time....sets the mood, i feel very authentic (tee hee) service: she is very fast. lip and brows in under 10 mins for sure. i have pretty good eye brows so to find the shape isn't hard, so usually when i get the threaded its basically a clean up job. real quick. lip was very quick as well. i have very sensitive skin, so when it comes to hair removal, my upper lip started to swell and get itchy on 4 or 5 different areas, my pores get kinda irritated, but it subsides. i probably don't get that as much from skin envy, but that might be b/c they've known me for 2 years... (just a side note, i will never wax again, but i am considering lazer removal, but in the mean time, threading is your best option) price: $5 cheaper than skin envy. for lip and brow i got it for $15. $10 for brow and $5 for lip. very very reasonable. so technically since i moved down to san mateo from millbrae, karisma is closer and cheaper, but i am sacrificing the level of meticulousness that i get from skin envy, so u get what you pay for (of course from my p.o.v). i would def go back. it was just a matter of a few hairs here and there, and my skin irritation goes away in an hour or so. the hours are much more flexible here since she isn't running off to catch a train at the end of the day, so if i'm unable to get an appt at skin envy, i may slowly start transitioning to get my brows and lip done at karisma. side note: for some reason i just assumed that the lady's name was karisma, i dunno why, but reading yelp i guess her name is simor!! i will make a mental note of that! read more

A lot of threaders leave little patches of hair here and there. Not RB's Threading Studio. This is one of the few places where the threader really knows what she is doing. I refuse to go anywhere else. Bonus: Very affordable. read more
