After reading all the reviews I wanted to try this place out. I thought I read that someone walked out of here with an eyebrow and lip thread for $15 and I though ok that's a decent price! I guess it was my fault for not checking before I got the services done but it came out to $22. I'm sorry but that's a little too much! The regular place I usually go to is $5 for lip & $5 for eyebrow. Granted I wanted to try this shop because it was closer to school and the other shop I go to is across the San Mateo bridge closer to my house. My eyebrows looked good but I noticed later she didn't thread my upper lip that well... I just feel like she didn't take her time with me. I literally walked in, sat on the chair for 2 minutes, and walked out. read more

I've been waxing and plucking every since I could remember, but I just moved into the area and had yet to find a place to do my eyebrows. After talking to my friend in Dallas, who has the most amazing brows ever I found out that she actually goes to a threading studio, in which I wanted to try, since my waxing experiences have never been amazing. She assured me the process was quick, painless, and accurate- Simor was all of that and more! She was friendly, professional, and I loved how she asked me what I expected out of the appointment plus giving me tips on how to maintain my brows until I saw her next (no plucking and how to fill in a space that I had). On top of that, it was only $18 for a reshaping (desperately needed that!), and the follow-up clean-ups will only be $12! Now I have some amazing brows too, and someone amazing to go to every three weeks! read more

She was incredibly rude out of nowhere from the moment I walked in the door. If the service had been great, it might make up for her sour attitude... but it wasn't. I could have shaped my own eyebrows better and would have been in a better mood for the rest of the afternoon without having made this stop. This Saturday was my first experienced threading and it was wonderful. I literally had about 45 minutes for lunch and I was seen to immediately, the owner is friendly and professional. I have sensitive skin so when I waxed my eyebrows it takes a day or so for the redness to go. Their was no down time with threading and the best part it didn't hurt. I was very excited to find a threading studio with a convenient location. I agree with the other reviewer that she definitely charges a lot for her services. I did feel talked into more than I came in for so I ended up spending almost 1 1/2 times more than I planned. She was quick and relatively painless. However I do have two spots where I'm bleeding, also, the more I read reviews now (which I should have read closer before) I realize that the services she talked me into were likely unnecessary which I just think is bad business! I had originally thought I would go back again, but I think I will stick to more honest merchants. read more

based on Yelp reviews as well as other recs, I decided to give it a try. I have done waxing, but always broke out. I was not prepared for it to look a little sketchy on the inside (broken floor tiles, scary restroom, really bad decor). Watched two other "regulars" get their brows done. Informed her that I was a newbie and giving it a try. She let me know what to expect. Yes it hurt, but then again you are plucking hair from the root, so it should hurt a little. She did my brows, and then decided to brave my lip (for the first time ever). It was a little startling, but the pain quickly went away. I did not break out, not one little spot. No redness, no puffiness. I will definitely go back. Soooo much better than waxing. Just need to get past the sketchiness of the location and decor. read more

This place is a little charm! I regularly run errands at the shop right next to this parlor and I was so happy when I found out they accept walk-ins! I had a 20 minute break, so I decided to get my eyebrows threaded because I have never tried it before and they really needed a trim. The girl was incredibly quick and precise, it was clearly obvious that she's very experienced. Naturally, it hurt a bit, but the result was stunning. Overall, it only took 5 minutes! I'll definitely come back here from now on every time I need to trim my eyebrows and I'll recommend it to other people as well. read more

Just recently discovered this place and I must say its been by far the best threading experience ever. Not as painful as many of the other places ive been and she definitely sounds like she knows what shes talking about when giving you eyebrow shape advice. Prices are pretty average. Slightly higher then my usuall place but I think the pain factor makes it ok..considering you hardly feel the pain when she threads!! Great place plan to go back again! read more

I never had threading done before but I'm really happy I tried it out. Simor is a lovely lady and was very warm. She consulted with me briefly about the services (aka she talked me into getting my upper lip done, I was clearly in denial) and the overall shape of my brows. My brows are naturally thin but I'm trying to grow them in a little while maintaining a good shape. It was relatively painless, you can feel a slight tingle, but Simor works so quickly you barely have time to register the feeling. Every now and then she would have me hold the skin taut and she would quickly go over the area. It almost sounds like a zipper zipping up actually. And I could feel tiny little hairs landing on my face as she zipped away the hair. I was only slightly concerned because it felt like there was a LOT of hair falling out but it turns out I just have lots of fine hair that was picked up in the thread. The shape of my brows is fantastic! Simor did a great job putting a slight arch in my brows and keeping everything even. The entire procedure for both brows and upper lip was 10 minutes, max. I'm definitely coming back! read more

The first few times I was here, this place was a hit or miss with respect to threading - sometimes I would come back with great eyebrows and once I came back with such a bad cut on my eyebrow that even after it healed, the mark was visible for months (should have written a review at that time with a photo of the cut)...The service was always good and because it was conveniently located on my way home from work, I decided to keep this place as a backup. Then the other day I walked in and two new ladies were doing the threading - this time service was so bad and the threading was so painful that I decided not to even keep this place as a backup. Thankfully I had the sense to tell them that I wanted only my upper lip and chin done and not my eyebrows - I thought I should try the new lady before entrusting my eyebrows to her (if you ask for eyebrow threading along with other threading services, people usually do the eyebrows first and then if they are bad, you are screwed). Once she was done with my upper lip, I was so so glad that I had not asked for my eyebrows to be done. read more

Die-hard threading fan for around 5 to 6 years now, & would pretty much let my brows go wooly mammoth before reverting to waxing. Which I've had to do quite a bit lately because this is my 2nd cross-country move (from Mich to Florida to Cali) in less than 2 years, so I'm constantly seeking new threading spots all over again. Definitely no mean feat because this is still somewhat of a niche industry. Anyway, found an awesome threading studio in East Bay on Yelp a month ago, but worried I wouldn't be able to find something in my neck of the woods (Southern San Mateo). Luckily, found this gem on Yelp around 5:15 this eve, & was able to call and get in at 5:45! Once I arrived, discovered the biz owner (and sole employee) Simor, had changed her closing time from 6 to now 5:30 on wkdays, but she had waited for me out of sheer accomodation & cust service. I got brows done only. Her work was very quick & efficient; she also had a gentle touch, though I have a high pain threshold so I never take pain into consideration when selecting beauty treatments anyway. Incredibly friendly & very communicative b4 & during treatment as to desired brow design. Studio was small & a little hot, but clean. Apparently, Karisma has evolved from home-based to store-front, so I'm sure the venue will continue to improve as biz grows. (Compared to some previous reviews, to me Simor has also evolved in technique, bedside manner, and even price: only $10 for brows- not unheard of for me but CRAZY good for peninsula area!) I have been going to Ruchi for over 6 years. I love her so much that I've been driving to Burlingame (RB Threading) from Redwood City. I'm super excited about her second location in Belmont that she just took over from the previous owner (really convenient to Highway 101 and easy parking). I couldn't recommend Ruchi more highly. She's a lovely, delightful person and is a fantastic threader. She's fast and efficient and not nearly as painful as the threaders that I've gone to in the past. And I never break out after seeing her, which I did with other threaders. AND . . . her prices are really reasonable. Ruchi keeps this 48 year woman beard free! I love Ruchi! P.S. I have been coming here for threading for longer than I can imagine. Not just threading, even body waxing and henna too! Its always clean and organized inside and the girls are very friendly. The prices in my opinion are quite reasonable, compared to other places at least, plus the work is well deserved. What I like about them is that they will really work with the client to help them get the desired shape for the brow. They take their time to really make sure the client is satisfied.
