We hired Ready Rooter to send a camera through the sewer line of a house we were purchasing, which gave us peace of mind that everything was working properly. They were available in short order during our option period, showed up right before n time, and charged us $250. We had Chapman Plumbing out afterward to flush our water heater and do some minor plumbing repairs. It was about a week before they had a plumber available, but he showed up in time and did a good job. Their pricing seemed a bit high for this service, but the work seems to have been done well. First off...this is READY rooter..not Roto. Don't get that mixed up. No connection. We had a upstairs bathtub drain leak that had been going on for months, and finally exposed on the first floor wall. I called READY rooter by contractor referral. Since this was a small on-going leak, I expected them to schedule me like a Dentist or Doctor would...asking "we have an opening 3 months from now, how does that sound?" Instead it was... "we can come over this morning." Well, within an hour, this narly dude named Tyler who claims 20-some years of experience showed up, examined the situation, cut the hole in the ceiling, and fixed the leak. The leak was due to aging pipes. The best part is it took him less than an hour! He asked for payment on the spot and took Visa which is just fine with me. I heard Chapman was a good company, but when my new faucet became faulty there was a proplem. they sent same guy out said i do not see nothing wrong, the second guy with him, after i showed a picture of it leaking and where. Said oh there a pin hole, then the threads were bad on spout of faucet. The guy said I dont know what to do thats $ 120 faucet and I am not going to let company eat it. BAD BAD Mind you they have already been paid for the job! The faucet is a Moen all you have to do is replace it have Moen send you a new one! Instead taped it and I have to wait 10-15 days Bad company, while I am waiting tape has come off and water is shooting out everywhere thru spout ugh ugh! Very pleasant, accommodating reception forgot to send a message to the plumbers at Ready Rooter, but not their fault! Two gentlemen arrived about 15 mins early for our 2nd appt. & were waiting for me to arrive. They worked for a solid hour to clear my drains. I was worried I'd have to wait 3 more more days for some kind of hydro treatment they provide & was nervous about the cost. They persisted & found the problem. I've always used another, more well known company for my tree root growth problems in the past, but they weren't available for 24 hours. The other company charged $144 more for approx. 15 mins worth of work last year. Ready-Rooter only charged me $206 for the whole hour of being on my roof trying different augers, clearing the sink w/their shop vac & working inside under the sink, as well. They were tidy & as quick as possible. I'm so grateful to them & will be calling them each & every year when the winter rains back everything up. read more

These guys have been out several times to fix bad decisions from the previous owners. This last time it was to fix a leaking garbage disposal. They came out the day after I called which was great. They looked under our sink (we had purchased the new disposal) and said "we'll this isn't right!" Apparently drain pipes shouldn't run uphill! They took it all apart and installed the new disposal while getting the drain line going downhill. Cost me $180 which I think is well worth it. read more

I phoned to make an appointment, and was surprised to quickly get through to a scheduler, who was pleasant, knowledgable, and efficient. After consulting both our calendars, we landed on a mutual convenient day and time. We then confirmed the date and time, and before hanging up I said, "I will look forward to seeing the plumber on the ____ at ____" Fast forward to the scheduled date: no one shows up or calls. I phone Chapman plumbing, and again quickly get through to a person. I explain the situation, but I'm informed that "we don't have you on our calendar." With further checking it is apparent there is no record of our conversation. The person I spoke with was pleasant, but seemed to doubt whether I had in fact scheduled. We discussed the possibility of a "different" Chapman plumbing, but I confirmed this phone number in the email from my contact. I invited the person to check out further what might have happened and call me back. (she said they have a number of answering service staff who may have taken the call--though my original call was during normal business hours, and the person I spoke with today did not even ask me that question!). To her credit, she called shortly after, and offered to get a plumber to my house "after he finishes" a current job. However, this isn't the same as asking me "would it be convenient for you if--". However, there's a basic problem here: a lack of courtesy. First: no apology. Secondly: an appreciated effort to "make up" the error (not admitted of course), but without consideration to what might work for me. I explained I had another appointment today an hour from when we spoke, and asked the plumber's ETA. The person I was speaking said, "I couldn't really tell you." This company has been in my home twice and fixed three things. They did a great job and they charge a reasonable rate. Also I asked them to do something and after diagnosing it they told me I didn't need it. Many companies would just do the work and charge me because I asked, whether I needed it or not. They also put booties on their shoes and cleaned up after themselves so it looked like nobody was even there. I would highly recommend them and I will call them any time, God forbid lol, I have plumbing or septic problems. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. A week ago, we had trickles coming from the valves under the kitchen sink. We tried to get someone local and, when no one responded, we called Chapman. The guy came out and decided nothing was wrong with the valves because he couldn't get them to leak. Two days later we came home to a ruined kitchen floor and subfloor, and the flood drove mice into our kitchen. Chapman sent another guy out who found corroded parts inside the valves and fixed it. This week, I took time off from work to meet them so they could test the waterline. They called at the last minute and said they could not come until next week. And the repaired valves? They aren't fixed at all and leak a lot when the dishwasher runs. Now we have to submit to our insurer for the floor damage and endure a torn up kitchen when it can be repaired. read more

I had a really positive experience with Chapman Plumbing/Anthony. Not perfect, hence the four stars. But would I use them again? In a heartbeat! In a major remodel I needed rough-in plumbing for a kitchen prep sink, and a completely rearranged master bath. Anthony and (forgot name?) were a bit more per hour than other quotes, but also estimated less time, claiming they were fast. I wondered but went ahead. Well, they WERE fast. What another firm quoted three days to accomplish, they finished in a day and a half saving me a bunch of money. Later I had a minor issue to be corrected (an honest mistake) and they came promptly to correct it and did not charge me, taking full responsibility for the issue. Why not five stars? To me that means perfection. We had a couple of MINOR communication misses that we easily overcame, so not perfect. Context: My home was basically a construction zone, and they were contracted to do only the rough-in work as I was doing the finishing. So it was my job to "make pretty." I assume they would be just as thorough and easy to work with if they did the final installation and cleanup, and I would hire them if that were the case. Had a complete shut down of my septic system. Chapman Plumbing sent out a competent plumber to assess the situation and provide an estimate of the work that needed to be done to rectify the situation. I had also called another "septic specialist" and they suggested to start by pumping the tank, and then they would asses the situation. Long story short Chapman Plumbing fixed the system for less than the cost of the pumping alone. I used these guys 4-5 times and their service was great. They were scheduled for a job for me at 8 this week and didn't show. I had waited 2 weeks for this appointment. The scheduler laughed and said they were having computer issues and there was no appointment for me. They had not picked up my parts from their distributor either. I admit I got mad at her since her last words to me on Oct 24th were, "you're on the schedule." Now they won't call me back to reschedule. I called to ask if they were unwilling to complete my project and they brushed me off and wouldn't give me a straight answer, "I'll have Jeff call you." No call. Start to finish i was pleased and confident that I choose the right company for the outside replacement water pipe to my house. I had a list of companies to choose from, the receptionist answered the phone with professional manner and took my information to have a person come out the next day. I had contacted several others companies that was not prepared to make appointment or had and canceled. Even to busy to make the appointments. My bid was a quick run through as they new where to look and explain the process in detail of what they would be doing. I was assured I would have 2-3 hrs of no water service I choose them the bid was within my estimates. I had a drain installed on an acrylic shower base in late June. The work was completed in less than an hour with no complications. The installers were courteous, professional, and thorough; I was more than pleased by the work done. However, I was charged $440 for the hour's worth of labor and $26 in parts. When I asked for the breakdown from the installer, he told me that the extra labor cost was for the time he took to obtain the parts from the local hardware store. I didn't think this could be correct and asked for an explanation of billing from the company management (by phone and letter). I still have not received any explanation. I understand that there should be a cost associated for the time spent obtaining supplies. But, I don't think it is fair to charge $110/hour in labor (or appx $300) for the time spent obtaining $26 worth of parts. The work done was great; the billing not so great. Jack W read more

3 years ago I hired Ready Rooter to run gas lines at my home. I assumed they did a good job, but they never called for the final inspections, so I can't be sure it was done properly. A year ago I got nasty letters from the city about the expired permit and significant penalty fees. I was told that Ready Rooter was responsible for getting the final inspections. I called and they assured me they would take care of it. Just recently I got another round of threatening letters from the city. Ready Rooter had done nothing. I called again and was assured again that it would be resolved. I checked back and was told they had scheduled the inspections. Today I got a call back from the city letting me know that Ready Rooter had lied about scheduling the inspections. The city finally told me that I could call myself. They gave me the number and I took care of it in minutes. When I called Ready Rooter to let them know, they were rude and hung up on me. The city and inspection support team were very helpful. They both told me that Ready Rooter is known for dropping the ball and that they currently have 18 expired permits that they have neglected. Three years!!! So Frustrating. read more

After two other plumbers had previously failed to solve our very messy drain overflow problems (you know the kind) that affected the entire house, Ready Rooter was able to use a remote camera to locate a clog in the main drain line where it leaves the house. The others just snaked the line, removed a bit of crud, and sent us a bill. When the Ready Rooter's snake wasn't able to get past the real source of the clog, he sent his camera up the pipe and located the problem. Long story short, but worth it because it was so weird, the clog turned out to be a 25' Stanley tape measure that some roofers had dropped through a roof vent several weeks before. Where the others failed Ready Rooter was able to find and fix the problem. Their price was literally no more than the others' who had tried and failed, even though he spent twice the time on the problem. We now keep their number on our fridge. read more
