Some GPS send you on very back roads that are hard to navigate and if you loose signal, your screwed. * Same with the trails, Map out and highlight your trip in advance. Trails are well marked but you have to know where you are going and how to get back. *Took Ricks advice and had lunch at Corner Shop in Bramwell. A trip back in time and excellent food and service. We opted to have the UTV delivered as we were staying 45 minutes from Eagle at Trailheads Resort. The machine was delivered first thing in the morning and was clean, fueled, and ready to go. The machines are newer and are equipped with GPS which was super helpful. We had the UTV for the whole day and just sent a text to Eagle when we were done. I would definitely recommend Eagle ATV and plan on renting from them again.

Even though we didn't pay for a guide, the boss took us to the trailhead, and a couple of miles in to make sure we understood how to handle the machines in trail conditions. A word to the wise: print the directions and maps before you leave home. As with most places in the mountains of WV, you won't have cell coverage, your GPS will lead you astray, and things are hard to find.

Lots of respect here because at 10pm on the nose, everyone got quiet in an instant. That almost never happens! I loved camping here. Check out is 12pm! Hands down, this may be one of the loveliest parks I've stayed in. The drive in to the park is just…read moregorgeous, with the Bluestone Lake, River, and the New River all around. At the entrance to the park is one of the WV Almost Heaven swings! You can walk the bridge via a pedestrian access, and the Bluestone Marina offers kayak, canoes, or boat rentals for a lake level view. The cabins are affordable, peaceful, and recently renovated with nice space and woods or water views, and a fireplace with a stack of wood ready to complete your clamping experience. There are trails on site as well, and picnic areas with more beautiful scenery. Check out Pipestem nearby as well!!

They've recently acquired the hostel from The former owner who still lives in the area and as Foodies themselves make incredible meals. For supper the first night we had cheese stuffed shells with arrabiata meat sauce and the second night we had "Mexican lasagna." Both nights there was a yummy salad. Eric mentioned how much he likes it when gluten-free hikers come through as he is (completely) gluten-free himself, and it allows him to have second crack at any leftovers. Breakfast was amazing buttermilk flapjacks, and eggs mixed with spinach, as well as sausage for those who want it. (And infinite amounts of coffee for those who need that.). The bath house was recently built -- 3 giant shower stalls with locking doors (but Al fresco so I'm not sure how that would feel during colder months.). We got one of the private rooms which had three beds and could've slept five comfortably, but the toilet is communal as per usual at hostels. There is a stream with small fish, large crawdads and some cool giant pollywogs on the other side of the gravel driveway. The front yard of the property is a field where we (with other resting hikers) watched an impressive number of butterflies and we understand the firefly show is impressive during June-July. The biodiversity of the Appalachian Trail on either side of this property is unparalleled. I read it's the most biodiverse temperate forest in the world and I believe it. Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit!
