This is by far my favorite restaurant right now. I come here at least once a week or I start getting the shakes (just kidding). I recently cheated and tried another local Mediterranean place, and it wasn't even remotely close to how good Olive is. I'm honestly shocked to see that there are any negative reviews for this place. They know what I order every time I come in, and are extremely friendly, especially the owner and his daughter. You can tell they really appreciate your business. The place is clean and neat. My typical order is the Shish Tawook platter with a rice pudding for dessert, but I've also taken a liking to the Shwarma platter. I like to eat large quantities of food, and these platters are BIG. The Greek salad that comes with the platters has a delicious vinaigrette dressing, plus big chunks of feta cheese and plenty of kalamata olives. The rice is absolutely amazing, well-spiced and even better with some tzatziki sauce mixed in. The chicken is always juicy and never over-cooked. The rice pudding is some of the best I've ever had, including what I make at home. read more

I happened upon this place by mistake, missed a turn to the interstate and had to turn around. I pulled into a shopping center with not much activity- empty stores and open space. I was debating whether I should stop to eat dinner. I saw this place in the corner of the shopping center and as I really enjoy Mediterranean food decided why not. The restaurant is very large, well lit great ambiance, but totally empty. I got a little concerned. There is a great selection on the menu and very reasonable prices. The service was very good and the employees very polite. The portions of food are big and it all tastes delicious. I would return in a heart beat, it's a shame it is secluded in this empty shopping center. read more

I visited Real Olive on a whim, I was craving a gyro and saw this place had good reviews. The food was okay. My gyro was very watery and messy, the pita did not taste fresh and the tzatziki sauce lacked flavor. However the service was fast and the employees were very kind. I ordered a side of Greek potatoes with my gyro, and they were very bland. No seasoning and there were enough potatoes for a family of 4. I would visit this restaurant again, but maybe try other menu items. read more

I came in with high expectations that were quickly dashed. We ordered the beef kabobs and falafel entrees. The salads were fresh with huge chunks of feta. Sone were too big. The pita was excellent init where they fell down was the actual beef and falafel were over cooked. With the falafel being blackened and the beef dried out. The rice was also dry. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but I feel this was forced upon me. Just order take out from this restaurant for the first time. I got the gyro platter. I open up the box and they had given me long stringy pieces of meat with Maybe 50 grains of rice. I asked for extra cucumbers, they gave me one slice. With the little rice I got, there was flavorful. The meat was okay. Nothing to rant over. Also order baklava and was dry. I don't know if they didn't take me seriously because I was a to go order but I wouldn't order from here again. read more

We had the hummus, pita, lamb shank and gyro platter which came with Greek salads (olives all still had pits, a nice little choking hazard but I'm not sure if that's how Greek salads are typically made) and rice. The hummus was very tasty. The rest of it was ok I guess. I had two real issues. The bathroom was very dirty, and when paying I was given an option to tip. Yes, the food was brought to our table but no other service was provided. I could tell later that I was meant to clean my table when I saw a trash receptacle with an area for food trays above it. So, why are they asking for a tip? I can't explain that one. This place is more like fast food Greek without a drive through window, except that they had silverware and actual plates while everything else was disposable. The sign says "Real Olive" so I drove past it and had to turn around. The pros-THE FOOD! I have been craving a gyro and ordered a gyro sandwich, a shishkabob sandwich for my husband and a small tabouli to split. The food takes awhile and that was fine because the shishkabob was cooked to order-not sitting under a heat lamp. The pita was fresh and soft and large-with fresh tomatoes, lettuce and some of the best taziki I've ever had (garlicky YUM!). Lots of meat in both and still warm when I got home. I surprised my husband with lunch as he's turned up his nose at Mediterranean food in the past out of not knowing it. Gotta tell you, he ate the entire large sandwich, part of the really good tabouli and proclaimed at least three times after how good it was and that he'd have it again! I loved mine as well and had to eat half and then half later as it was large and packed with flavor. The Cons-the counter where you order was greasy and had crumbs. The cooking area is in plain sight needs a complete scrub down-and this was at opening time before noon! The front door and window needed cleaning as well and I didn't have the guts or the need to use the bathroom. Because the food was so good, and the front counter young woman was so nice-I only took away one star. Had I rated it on cleanliness alone-one star. I've worked restaurants both as a cook and a server-and I wouldn't work in that environment. Get it together and clean up because your food is AWESOME! read more

Everything on the Olive menu is recommended for a great meal. First of all, the staff is very courteous and helpful with menu questions, so when in doubt, just ask! I've had most of the pits sandwiches, the falafel and shawarma are my favorite. Each comes with a side and I prefer the potatoes, plenty of seasoned potato bits, but there are other side choices. If you want to try a variety of meats, the mixed platter is a great option, comes with salad and then you could choose two side dishes like potatoes and hummus to compliment the meal. The hummus comes with plenty of pita and each salad, and most dishes, are accompanied by olives, true to their name. I really enjoy this restaurant and in the short time it's been open, I've gone several times and have recommended my friends to do so. This was my first visit. I went with a friend who says she goes there semi-frequently. I was hungry for soup so I decided to try the very non-Mediterranean cream of mushroom soup. I also got an order of the grape leaves/greek salad. Before I continue with the food, let me say this about the staff. The two men who were up front were rude - not in any obvious way, just very dismissive, gruff, and the one guy looked like he was trying not to roll his eyes at my friend who was trying to explain what she wanted. Not good customer service. As I was paying, the owner came out and he was a breath of fresh air. Very friendly, and he immediately made me feel like I was wanted in the restaurant unlike the other two. I gave a low tip, unlike my usual, for the staff alone. Now the food. As I should have expected, the soup was a little gross. Too much flour or thickener or something plus unidentified stuff floating around in there. It tasted OK, but I wasn't impressed. The things that will make me try this place again, however, were the grape leaves and the Greek salad. Delicious! The grape leaves were thin, but possibly the best I've ever had. And the salad had the perfect balance of crisp lettuce to dressing. That dish was worth the trip over there. read more

A colleague and I ordered lunch through Yelp last week. We weren't altogether pleased. First dislike, the minimum order for delivery is $30 + delivery fee. Our office is located less than 3 miles from their location. Suggestions: #1 Do not charge a fee within a 5-10 mile radius. #2 Lower the minimum to $20. Second dislike, my colleague ordered a combo and they did not bring her drink or refund us the money. Suggestions: #1 Admit when you are wrong and offer to correct the problem. #2 Also offer an backed apology, ie coupon, discount, etc Having voiced my dislikes first, here are my likes: #1 ALL the food was flavorful and fresh. #2 The delivery was made in a timely matter. I ordered the mixed grill platter, side of feta, and spanikopita. All the meats were tender and yummy, the rice fluffy, the pita warm, feta soft and pastry flakey. It came with salad that was fresh. Dressing and sauces on the side was good. It was absolutely delicious!!! I will try this place again, maybe in house with the kids. The food was too good not to try again. read more

Had the lamb shank meal...it was actually very good. However they lost the rating when the appetizers of potatoes arrive...they sound delicious on the menu. Unfortunately they were reheated previous frozen potato pieces with minimal spices sprinkled over them....waste of money. Then you get a huge order of pita bread with meal put not even a taste of hummus. This is very not typical for ever other greek restaurant I've eaten at. I hope the baklava would redeem but no luck. We catered from there for a private dinner. They delivered all the way to Chattanooga! Arrived 15minutes ahead of schedule. Great service setting up the trays. Amazing food. Chicken and steak kabobs so juicy and tender generous portions for the order. The rice full of flavor. Hummus great. read more

Update: Came back a year later. Food has improved, a lot. I've tried lots of better Mediterranean options and was a bit disappointed here. The chicken shwarma was overcooked and a little tough. The hummus was decent. The greek salad was decent. The food was just average overall. They have a patio outside. The service is nothing special, not even a friendly smile. I pass this place all the time and finally decided to stop in. I ordered my food through yelp. I was pleased to see was ready when I got there. I ordered the shish tawook and the grilled veggie platter with no mushrooms for entrees and side of olives/feta and rice pudding. I have to give it a 3 because the grilled platter had mushrooms on it and the chicken was a little dry but flavorful. If I had been allergic the meal would be inedible. On the positive side, Real Olive has the best hummus and fresh pita bread I have eaten from a restaurant. The hummus was smooth, well blended and lemony. Ordered a gyro among other things. Inside the sandwich I found a wad of the paper they wrap the sandwiches with. It was stained with the meat juice, so obviously had fallen into the meat tray and looked like the meat. Nonetheless it was very disturbing to find it in my sandwich. We called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. Instead of apologizing and owning up to the mistake, he tried to make out like we had mistakenly eaten the wrapper. The wrapper was on the OUTSIDE, duh! Basic Restaurant Customer Service 101 : when a customer complains (legitimately), you should 1) apologize, 2) don't make excuses, but affirm you'll look into it to make sure it doesn't happen again, and 3) offer to comp the meal. I was willing to overlook it as a human error, but with this response, I figured I should warn others. read more

Authentic gyros and falafels. I can't get enough of the Greek potatoes. My picky preteen likes the gyros as well. The house made hummus is so creamy and flavorful!!! I'm am particularly about what I eat since I pend to cook from scratch! This is one of my few favorite restaurants in Lawrenceville! When my order is not correct, they are quick to make up for it.
