We stopped in for dinner craving tacos. The menu options are mouth watering. We decided on their soft corn tortilla tacos. We found a seat and when our food was ready we were surprised to be served by a robot. So very cool!!! I had the carnitas. The flavor was delicious. The balance of cilantro and onions were perfect. I tried the hottest of their hot sauce and it definitely had a kick to it but was very good. The place has enough seating for a decent amount of people and has a casual vibe to it. Super cute & clean fast food Mexican with friendly staff. Have wanted to try this place for a while, and both my husband and I were glad we did! He ordered the Torta combo with pastor, which came with a very flavorful consommé, and I had the quesadilla combo which came with rice and beans; both included a large soft drink. I've had these guys before when their food truck used to be around town and I liked them then, and when I was in the area and saw they had a sit down restaurant, I was like, okay, we're eating here! The inside has plenty of seating and is clean. Parking here can be tight, but doable. I reviewed the menu and they have a decent variety of items to choose from. While not on the cheap end of things (on average, a combo runs about $15) the food is tasty. Since their tacos tend to be on the heartier side, I went with two fish tacos instead of the three that come with the others (being chicken and beef.) Fortunately, the combo's come with a drink and a side of rice and beans. Both the rice and beans were super tasty and there was plenty of food given for the price. The guys behind the counter were super helpful and nice. They let me take the time to review the menu and even though the fountain pop's behind the counter, they do offer free refills. They only do offer plastic silverware, which I wasn't so excited about but got me where I needed to go. Overall, a decent experience and if I'm in the area I'm more then willing to stop by, but not go out of my way for. I will say their food truck is good, so if you see it, go hit them up for some food. read more

This is a really good lunch place in the Troy area. There's plenty of seating indoors, and they have a great menu and make it easy to order with the touchscreen monitors up front. I ordered the red sauce tacos with the beans and rice sides and all of them were really good. I particularly loved the ground beef and birria tacos. Food truck stand in front of a brick and mortar restaurant, that's not open. Ordered two chicken tacos, 2 red chicken tacos and 2 chicken quesadillas for $30.68. The chicken quesadillas were tasty with the green verde and the hot red salsa, but skimpy on the cheese and chicken inside. The tacos were also rather skimpy with the chicken as well. The tacos were bland. The quesadillas tasted better. Prices are on the higher end for what you get. read more

Tried the Real Taco Express for the first time today. I think they just recently opened this store but had food trucks around before ( I think!). Really glad they did. The place is clean and the staff were very friendly. I tried the #6 combo of red queso tacos w/ birria. It comes with rice, beans and three of their salsas (red, green, and a guac style sauce) all of which were delicious! Also added a side of consume' for the tacos. One nice thing I noted is that there was no additional charge for the birria. Most places charge more due to the additional time spent making it. Not here, and it was delicious! Yummy, yummy, yummy! The sides were also good. The rice was fairly standard, but the beans were really good. I'm assuming they use lard instead of vegetable shortening. Prices were reasonable and the meal definitely filled me up. I'll be back for sure. Give them a try! read more

I like to drive around and wait for some place to "speak" to me and Real Taco Express has that down pat! It's has neon lights welcoming you and even an outdoor patio area. It's a fast casual approach to BOMB authentic mexican. A scaled down menu of the authentic staples and so far they all HIT. I had the corn tacos and they fry the corn tortillas fresh--frigging amazing. Highly recommend carnitas birria and al pastor. They have fresh salsa you can take to your table, spicy but amazinggg. They even serve the fresh cucumbers with the tacos! and plenty of lime. We also had a quesadilla that was DELICIOUS. Just definitely come here. These people really don't talk much to you and they kinda have an attitude but let me tell you their customer service other than that is amazing. I'm not the type to complain about somebody's personality just don't give me no attitude. These peoples personalities are not 100% welcoming but guess what they don't give you an attitude. I started going to this place before it was an establishment...when it was a taco truck. I think the tacos are pretty good. I do have some tips. When you first go, you will see their combos which are fine but there is also a la carte listing. I don't drink pop and am not a fan of refried beans so the combos aren't a good value for me. Also, you might want to specify the sauces you want with your tacos. There are at least three and I got a couple with each of my past orders. read more

The corn tortillas taste homemade, but I'm not sure, but so so much better than the el miagro store bought kind. The horchata was authentic and the interior was clean. I'm giving them four stars because they just opened their brick and mortar store. (My first thought was 3.) They have had food trucks that have done well. I got a combo, rice, beans and three kinds of tacos. I wasn't wowed. I thought they were kind of generic. Pastor, chorizo and carne asada, were all very similar. Not so here, and when I asked about the kiosk they said I had to use them to place my order. When other customers came in the guy I asked about using the kiosk came right up to the register and took the other customers order. This was my first and last time at this place. So manys salas options, beans and rice are amazing. You know when the beans and rice are good that everything else will be FIRE! I recommend this spot to everyone! I've tried a few other Mexican food restuarants in the Detroit area but this is by far the BEST. There are many others that are pretty good too but are high priced and not every item on the menu seems authentic. My fiancé and I were in the mood for Mexican and on the way home we spotted this cute new place. The place smelled amazing!! Everything on the menu looked so good! So we each decided to get our own entree and then one to split. I chose the nachos with chicken, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. He got the flour tacos with carnita. The combinations come with rice, beans and a drink. We also got the asada fries. Everything is made fresh to order. We probably waited about 10 minutes for our food. The inside is very neat and clean and looked beautiful! Our bill was 41.00 but considering all the food we got it was worth it. I'm not even kidding the three entrees we got weighed about 5 pounds lol. They are very generous with their portions! Both of us loved the food and would definitely go back! They have a new location coming soon which will be in Roseville so I'm sure we will check out that location too. They do have a food truck which is stationed on Groesbeck in Fraser. read more

This place wants basically $20 for a beef burrito that doesn't have sour cream nor avocado and there's nothing like California's burritos which mind you they charge average $12-$14 never would I ever recommend this spot for a burrito obviously. They don't even call it a carne asada smh read more

Food is pretty good but the guy at the counter is the biggest ahole you will ever meet. No customer service skills whatsoever. Don't even think about asking a question about the menu because you will get an attitude or the guy will stare at his phone and not pay attention. The business will fail if they don't get a new counter person that knows how to treat customers with respect. read more
