Washer started leaking. Hoping to keep this Bravos XL in the family I called Nick at Real Tech. He quickly responded, on a Sunday I might add. Made an appointment for me the following day. He let me know before he arrived that he was still expecting to be at my house in the small window of time we previously discussed. He came in was courteous and professional coming in our home. He spent time finding our leak. But he didn't stop there. He continued his diagnostic inspection. Went a little deeper into a diagnostic inspection. His knowledge of machines and engineering led him to believe there was a bigger leak elsewhere. Sure enough He found a second leak. This second leaks repair was not going to be cheap. He told me upfront. The better value would be getting a new machine. He didn't try to force one repair. Or a complete repair on my machine. He told me my best value would be replacing the machine. Not the part. This meant less profit for him. That is an honest professional answer. I greatly appreciate Nick being a real professional. This saved me a ton of money. If he would have stopped looking after finding a problem, which I assume many would do, I would have paid for a repair. That was needed but didn't fix the total problem. We recently had issues with our refrigerator. I requested a quote via Yelp, Niko quickly responded, and I scheduled an appointment. Niko texted me en route and arrived early in the estimated time window. When he arrived, we realized Niko had fixed our washer about a year ago. (He did a great job!) Niko examined our refrigerator, ran diagnostics, and determined that our compressor had gone out. He explained what he would fix, approximately how long it would take, and how much it would cost. All the Yelp five star reviews and fast response times are what got me to give Real Tech a call. My warranty service could not send someone out today and I was going out of town for a week and needed the issue addressed ASAP. Niko responded super fast to my initial text message and arrived less than two hours later, texting when he was on the way. He was up front about pricing, explained everything he would be doing. He had the problem diagnosed in less than 2 minutes and showed me the issues that were causing the problems. He had the fridge repaired in less than an hour. I can only give 2 stars. Service was prompt. But there were red flags that I felt uncomfortable and wanted to share. I have a 20 year old HVAC system with zone control. Wall mount thermostat went blank and I was looking for help in getting it fixed in a hurry. Niko was the person who promised to come next day and wind up actually have his brother Sergey come the same day. Great. There was going to be $100 diagnostic charge. That seems to be reasonable. Ok. Sergey came, stated there is a dead short. He recommend changing capacitor, contactor and fuse for $745. Ok. I can understand fuse, and contactor because of the dead short. The capacitor can be visually observed and tested with a meter. I asked why capacitor, whether he tested it. I cannot get a straight answer. Either he is incompetent in identifying whether the capacitor is defective, or he is trying to upsell, just lump in something that is not necessary to change to inflate the bill. I opted not to have the job done by him. He left with the furnace cover open, took a schematic drawing from the outside condenser and did not bother to remove a mouse corpse from capacitor housing. I asked Nico tjust send me the snapshot of the schematic drawing. I have yet to hear back from him. Niko offered me a refund and explained to me that he should not have asked Sergey to service the call. I accepted his explanation and increase the star rating to 4. However, I still think the $745 price to change out a capacitor / contactor / 3A fuse is still extremely high, even though I was told it is from California blue handbook. read more

I sent a text message to Niko on Friday evening describing the problem, my dryer model, and asking about his availability over the next week. Niko is incredible, and we will never call anyone e else for appliance repair. I told my wife that we were "reverse mechanic-ed" because he gave us the most cost effective information even though it meant less work for him. Also, he is very pleasant and polite. Our fridge/freezer died. We called him that night, and he was out (to Land Park) to check on our fridge for for his diagnostic price the next morning at exactly the time he said. He analyzed everything and explained each piece that was working, that wasn't working, and why. The compressor was dead, and he offered to fix it, but in this case showed us all the pricing and why it would make sense to buy a new one. He had a temporary fix if we needed it to last a couple more weeks, but let us know that between the parts and labor, it would make sense to get a mini-fridge while we waited (again talking us out of paying him). We ended up just paying the diagnostic fee and ordering a new fridge, and that diagnostic was some of the best money I could spend. He will DEFINITELY be getting any calls from us as we trust him completely now. I hope it won't be any time soon for us, but if you're on this page looking for someone, he is your guy. read more
