Visited Realm Rooftop for brunch with the colleagues I actually don't mind spending time with outside of work. I had a pretty good experience overall. The rooftop deck was definitely the highlight. Modern, chic decor with really nice daytime views of DC. I can imagine the atmosphere is even better at night. Food was decent. I had the shrimp and grits, which looked a little plain presentation-wise, but the flavor was actually very good. The French toast was also tasty. My main issue was the portion sizes. Everything felt more "tapas style" while still being priced like full entrees. My plate disappeared faster than my parking validation. Drinks were solid though. I tried their version of an Old Fashioned and really enjoyed it. Overall, good vibes, nice drinks, and a beautiful rooftop setting. Just be prepared for smaller portions than expected. 3/5 Realm Rooftop Lounge is one of those places where the ambiance is doing some very heavy lifting. The views are stunning, the music is on point, and the vibe has all the ingredients for a great night out. Unfortunately, the service and operations left a lot to be desired. We stopped by after dinner for a nightcap, and honestly, the experience got off to a rocky start before we even made it upstairs. One member of our group was denied entry because his denim shorts were cut off, which is fair enough if that's the dress code. He went home, changed, and returned, so crisis averted. Once we got upstairs, however, the confusion continued. We asked both the bar back and a server whether we could seat ourselves in the bar area, and neither person seemed to know the answer. After a brief game of "Who's on First?" , we tracked down the hostess, who informed us that yes, we could sit wherever we wanted. Great! Or so we thought. After taking a seat, we spent several minutes watching our server walk past us repeatedly without acknowledging our existence. At some point, the men in our group decided to do what apparently needed to be done and headed to the bar to order drinks themselves. Now, here's where I have to give credit where it's due: the drinks were excellent. We ordered the Purple Rain, Island Spritz, Casa del Fuego, and a tequila soda water, and every single one delivered. The bartender clearly knows how to make a cocktail. Unfortunately, she also seemed like she'd rather have been literally anywhere else. The drinks were enthusiastically slammed onto the bar with an energy that suggested we'd personally inconvenienced her by ordering them. Despite all of that, the ambiance truly is fantastic. The DJ was spinning an excellent set and created the perfect soundtrack for a summer night in DC. The rooftop views are gorgeous and absolutely worth experiencing at least once. Unfortunately, Mother Nature was operating on "surface of the sun" settings that evening, so spending too much time outside wasn't an option. At the end of the day, Realm has all the makings of a great rooftop destination: beautiful views, strong cocktails, and good music. What it's missing is a smooth operational flow and staff who seem interested in providing hospitality. Would I return? Yes--but I'd give them some time to work out the kinks. Plenty of servers were pleasant however, I definitely do not know how soon it will be before I want to go back if I even think I should return. I would suggest that if you do go to this establishment you make a reservation I was not sure about this place and was invited by friends who had not made reservations when we got there. We were told that we could sit at the bar. There's a automatic 20% gratuity on every check!!! In my opinion service at the bar did not did not come through as anything that I would ever want to do. It seems like they knew their 20% was coming there wasn't any pleasant interactions. it was very crowded. It was almost as if I was a bother just trying to order a beverage and a side dish. I came to this restaurant with a bit of skepticism, just from the hat appears to be strict reservation requirements, including the cost to change the number of people in the party, however I was pleasantly surprised with my encounter with or the staff through open table and the hostess at the restaurant. We had a bit of a wait with a reservation, to which I felt that the hostesses did the best they could considering the circumstances of a disgruntled group. I will say that I am confident that this is a GREAT date spot, as large parties (more than 4) is hard to accommodate. The angus sides were kinda small. They said they couldn't give my friend fries until after 7pm, which was super weird and annoying. They were also out of the carrot dip my friend wanted and she said the quality of the oysters wasn't great. Back to the good, nice rooftop space and I liked my two drinks, the "golden hour" and "trade winds." Trade winds was a lovely old fashioned type drink with a nice touch from tamarind. Happy hour beings out a crowd so I would get there early or have zero expectation to get a seat at the bar. The drinks were great, the sliders were tasty, and the server was really kind. Id strongly recommend making a reservation, but it is definitely a place to try! The fried rice was really good, tasted exactly like hibachi fried rice which I loved. However, for it to be jerk chicken fried rice you couldn't really taste the jerk chicken. The service is why I can't give this place a 5/5. There was a lot left to be desired. While our waiter was nice, the team brought the rest of the food and forgot our fried rice. It took a while after we got our food for the server to come back so we asked three different people three times for our rice before he arrived. The space is beautiful. It's an intricate process to get in, think exclusive club access, which adds to the vibe. The view is also amazing when you arrive in the rooftop. I recommend sitting outside on a nice day, which was my experience. That's really where the great experience ended. My friends had already arrived and I joined their table. After waiting 15 minutes it felt like servers were avoiding our table. Everyone around us was having their drinks delivered, additional orders taken, and we had no one come to our table nor could we get anyone's attention 20 minutes after I arrived. Someone was setting up a pole outside and we asked if there was a server we could order from. Another server came by, they said they would find our server. About ten minutes after, he came by. It was happy hour and busy. We brushed it off. We placed our food and drink orders. They were out of fries, which was a bummer. 2/3 of our food came out fast (oysters and shrimp), while my friend's sliders came out 30 minutes later. The oysters were...odd. The oysters were cut out of their shells and put in other shells. They mixed and matched multiple pieces in each shell which was an awkward experience to eat. It also was served with minimal mignonette inside the shell, and given that they were washed/cleaned, the natural flavors were removed. No mignonette was provided on the side and i couldn't find our server to ask for more. They also tasted a bit off. I would not recommend. About 35 minutes after, our server came by and i tried to order the carrot dip (non hh) and was told they were out. I asked again about fries and was told they were not available until 7pm (after hh). It seemed like they were just not serving fries during happy hour? I ended up with a glass of wine and was pleasantly surprised with the pour! Getting our check was tough, we again couldn't get our server to pay us any attention. He was checking on tables around us, and just kept skipping us over. We ended up having to get up to ask for the check when he walked away from another table by us. The views were great, but food and service were too inconsistent. As an added, their telephone line instructs you to leave a voicemail but it does not work and just repeats the same message on a loop. Too bad, it's a great rooftop space. read more

The service was slow coming from the bar, however our waitress was nice enough to make sure we received Happy Hour pricing on our tab despite the timing. In fact, this is the spot that would be perfect for a date night (manifesting one here soon -- with who? Only God knows ). Definitely gives a luxurious vibe. Views of the city are gorgeous and they have fire pits too, so you can get cozy. I tried several items I liked, in fact, I didn't have anything I didn't like. The oysters weren't your regular oysters: they had coconut-lime-ginger mignonette, which gave it an added twist to them (a little bit of sweet and tang). The waygu beef sliders were soft and could melt in your mouth and the mango chutney added a hint of tropical sweetness. The crabcakes were apparently coconut crabcakes but it was so subtle, I didn't even notice it. They also have passion fruit cheesecake that was pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and vibes. I asked that the staff turn the music down because it was extremely difficult trying to hear and talk to the waiter, or hear anyone at my table without yelling. The crab cakes were the best of our selection. The corn lacked seasoning. Lamb lollipops were overwhelming. The fried rice were a little too seasoned, the more we ate. My friend didn't like the sliders - said it just tasted like meat squished in the bun (I don't eat burgers so I did not try them). The tacos were the second best thing we ordered, in my opinion. The crab cakes were meaty (just small). Drinks: we both agree that the drinks were well made and shaken. I had the East India Cocktail. She ordered Eden Rouge. The presentation was nice as well. Service: The waiter was really nice and attentive. He did not give us a hard time when we opted not to finish a few of the dishes upon tasting them. The elevator to get to the rooftop took a while to arrive and then stopped on almost every floor going up. The/A building manager happened to be riding up with me when I arrived and said he's hoping to have the engineer fix this so the ride goes straight up. It's a vibe! We arrived a little after 5pm on a beautiful spring evening. The sun was shining, the rooftop was open, there was a light breeze and honestly the day was perfect! The bartender made everything just a touch better when he said it's Tiny Teeny Tuesday (the new Fad at bars across the city) a complete sucker for all fads my smile grew wider. After a loop of the large rooftop with a nearly 360 view of the city I looked to my friend and said wow, you get a 10 for this choice. The rooftop has something for everyone, private seating, booths, tables/ high tops, bar seating (all indoors) and then a large rooftop with firepits, couches, high tops, seating for 2, 4, 8 the more the merrier. As the night went on more drinks flowed. The bartender team brought around complimentary shooters to everyone; unfortunately, they didn't have enough for us (they said they were coming back, but didn't ...). We had two glasses of Rose and the lychee and guava lemon drop tiny Tinis both just enough sweetness to last any sweet cravings for the week! While I overheard some grumbles about service we had no issues. We didn't order any food this time, but saw French fries, oysters, flatbread pizzas and a variety of other options on the menu. One interaction that stood out was when I asked a server for a cup of hot water. He returned and informed me that his manager said, "We don't do that." The response felt very dismissive. Do you at least offer coffee & tea? As someone who was genuinely excited to support another black-owned establishment in the city, I had high expectations for both hospitality and the guest experience. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet those expectations. Service is often one the biggest factors in a guest's decision to return, and I believe there is an opportunity to improve staff engagement, responsiveness, and overall hospitality. I offer this feedback in the spirit of growth and longevity as a black-owned establishment. Before I start, I just want to say I hate leaving bad reviews but this is absolutely necessary. I am a foodie so I was excited to try this place for dinner after seeing all the social media buzz. First off, the food needs to improve. Overall my food experience was terrible. Given the price of said food, this restaurant should be ashamed to even serve the food here. I got the lamp lollipops, fries (terrible/ how do you mess up fries) wagu burgers (terrible), cauliflower! My recommendation-eat before you come somewhere else because if you're paying steakhouse prices you should get a steakhouse food experience which you will not! You WILL be disappointed unless you like subpar food. The one star is for aesthetic/vibes only. Service was okay. Rooftop was amazing/beautiful. Would come back for drinks/vibes only. I initially came here to make a reel and promote this place but I refuse to recommend this to anyone especially on social media. Extremely disappointing experience. read more

Unfortunately I won't be returning here, from the service to the food I was disappointed. The server was rude because he couldn't handle a large party, forgot food orders and basically did the bare minimum since he got almost 100.00 in auto gratuity. The food we did have was ok, nothing to write home about at all, they also ran out of food which is apparently normal for them. I had the lamb ribs which I sent back because it was nothing but fat, the fries and sliders were ok.The drink prices start at 16 and their version of a French 75 was disgustingly 25.00 (not sure why when signature cocktails were cheaper). Lastly it was so damn dark in there, I understand the vibe but we literally had to pull out flashlights to see everything. 2 stars for the music it was def a vibe but I'll never come back here. I made reservations for my birthday dinner and had a horrible experience. My group (most who came from out of town) of about 8 people were seated, but when we tried to order, they were out of almost every food item. We were told there were only three things: cauliflower, fries, and $45 oxtail. I wish they told us when we arrived so we could have time to find somewhere else to eat. The service also took a long while even though we only ordered drinks and French fries. They still added 20% gratuity. Don't come here if you plan to actually eat. Made a reservation for dinner at 7pm July 4th, 2026. Made that reservation almost a year ago, in 2025. Busy day I get it. Got a notice that my reservation was cancelled on July 3rd. Never happened on Open table and I've been on there since 2007. Can't say enough bad things about this place. Treated us like dirt. Never go there again. Ever. read more
